Mama Ayesha's Ratings and Reviews
Returned to Mama Ayesha’s for some authentic mid-eastern food, friendly service and to fill my craving for really good hummus.
We shared the cheese rolls, hummus & spinach feta walnut salad. All were very fresh; we will order them again. As a vegetarian, I ordered & enjoyed my lentil rice dish. My husband liked his marinated grilled beef with vermicelli rice, a house specialty. The bill was reasonable.
Inside has been upgraded and is now a very nice setting inside. Will return.
We've been here dozens of times. The food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. It is quite enough that you can have a conversation. The tables are far enough apart that you don't have to listen to your neighbor's conversation. The pacing of the meal (drinks, appetizers, main, dessert, and coffee) is perfect.
Mama Ayesha's is a hidden gem and one of the best restaurants in DC. Delicious, authentic food options for every diet without a cumbersome wait; beautiful layout with ample space and not too loud; perfect for date night or a group get together. This place is my favorite.
Amazing restaurant! Greeted warmly by family who own/run restaurant. Food was excellent! Best Lamb Shank I have ever had! Lebanese wine? Who knew it is this good! This place has an interesting history make sure to read the news clipping on the founder in the foyer!
This restaurant is a gem. It tastes like someone's grandmother is in the kitchen cooking with love -- just for you! The waiters are wonderful with recommendations. You can have easy conversations, as the room is quiet with fitting music. I love everything about it!
This is a Palestinian- Lebanese type restaurant with strong ties to early 20th century recipes.
The meets were succulent, especially the chicken dishes and the lamb. The Beef, was a bit of a miss. Salads were exceptional, especially the house salad in the appetizer section
You could easily drive or walk past this restaurant which pops up in a residential area on Calvert. The service is warm and welcoming and it has the feel of a true family restaurant. There is alot on the menu and groups could easily choose to share the many smaller plates instead of ordering an entree. Our party of four had three "appetizers" and each of us had an entree, which was more than enough food. The kebabs were outstanding and the lamb shank portion was enough for two. We couldn't resist the "baklawa" and then the server brought out two more desserts as his treat! They were all delicious. Everyone left happy. No one left hungry.
My husband, Jeff, and I were in Washington DC visiting our son who was there for the summer. Matt had eaten at Mama Ayesha's and loved it, so we decided to try it out. First, the outside of the building is fantastic, with an astounding mural featuring Mama Ayesha standing with all the former presidents from Ike to Barack! The decor inside is also beautiful -- Moroccan rather than Syrian. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. After we finished and said our goodbyes, we were walking down the street when my phone rang. It was the restaurant telling us that Jeff had left his credit card at the table! All in all, you can't get any better than that! I recommend it highly!
I've been to Mama Ayesha's a few times and it never disappoints. The food was delicious and we could hear each other talk! The decor is beautiful and the service is great. They really try to make you feel at home when you are there. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
I came here with my family while they were visiting D.C. We were looking for a middle eastern restaurant as I have been incredibly missing home cooked food. Words cannot do justice in explaining the hospitality and warmth of the staff, starting from the owner, to the waiters and even chef. One of the Egyptian chefs talked to me and assured me that if I asked for any dish regardless if it's not on the menu, he'd prepare it for me. His kind words and warm smile left me teary & looking forward to my next visit. Amazing overall!
