Founded by Ayesha Abraham, Mama Ayesha's opened for business in 1960. We are a family owned and operated restaurant serving authentic Arabic cuisine. Enjoy a fresh fattoush salad, some hummus, or some falafel to open you appetite. Main dishes include lamb, chicken, and beef dishes cooked over our charcoal grill. Or try one of our stuffed specialties such as our stuffed yellow squash or grape leaves. Plenty of vegetarian as well as vegan options also available.

With dishes prepared daily from scratch you can be sure you're getting the closest thing to home cooking. We are glad to be moving forward into our 5th decade of serving the Washington, DC area. Many of our guests can tell you that when you’re here at Mama Ayesha’s, you’re family!

Very noisy-birthday party in next room. Service, very slow--had to ask for bread

Returned to Mama Ayesha’s for some authentic mid-eastern food, friendly service and to fill my craving for really good hummus.

We shared the cheese rolls, hummus & spinach feta walnut salad. All were very fresh; we will order them again. As a vegetarian, I ordered & enjoyed my lentil rice dish. My husband liked his marinated grilled beef with vermicelli rice, a house specialty. The bill was reasonable.

Inside has been upgraded and is now a very nice setting inside. Will return.

This place is an institution and one of the few restaurants with excellent middle eastern cuisine. Family owned and operated; friendly fantastic service. Off the beaten path, but worth it.

We've been here dozens of times. The food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. It is quite enough that you can have a conversation. The tables are far enough apart that you don't have to listen to your neighbor's conversation. The pacing of the meal (drinks, appetizers, main, dessert, and coffee) is perfect.

Pleasant setting for a family gathering of young and old, meat eaters and vegetarians, to eat, converse and warmup before viewing Zoo Lights.

Mama Ayesha's is a hidden gem and one of the best restaurants in DC. Delicious, authentic food options for every diet without a cumbersome wait; beautiful layout with ample space and not too loud; perfect for date night or a group get together. This place is my favorite.

Delicious, vibrant, full of mezza options for both vegetarians and omnivores. Great for a meet up with colleagues, but there were also cozy dates happening around us. Highly recommended.

We had the pleasure to dine here a week ago. We are still talking about how delicious and great the service was. Without a doubt this became a instant favorite DC restaurant for us. Their food is exquisite and superb service.
