   Good food choice. Not many people in for lunch so atmosphere was quite flat but company was good. The waitress was quite odd - I got the impression that she hadn't been there very long.

   Very disappointing experience. Food and staff uninspiring. When we mentioned how disappointed we were there was no offer of an explanation or a show of concern. A lack of other diners was also worrying.

   Service was terrible. We were not shown to our seats, or asked if we wanted a drink. It took ten minutes to get the drinks when I was able to order - in an almost empty bar and restaurant. There were no plates for our bread - and we had to ask for butter. I had the mussels starter - delicious - but I was given no finger bowl, no paper towel to wipe my hand, no spoon to drink the cream and white wine sauce. No steak knives accompanied our steaks, and the menus and wine list remained on our table throughout the meal. My starter was very good, as was my pudding , but our steak main course was very disappointing. The fries were undercooked, and the meat chewy to the extent that my wife gave up and we had to send it back. The Maitre'd dealt with this speedily, spoke with the chef, and then returned to say they would be taking the matter up with their supplier! We weren't charged for my wife's steak, but my perseverance was not rewarded.

   We have visited The Talbot in Malton on very many occasions. It's a place of pleasure in our lives and we're extraordinarily lucky to have it. The staff make us so welcome and the fine food and drink they provide are excellent.

   Food was good,party of 4 x3 of us had steaks;we had to ask for steak knives.1 of the steaks was very undercooked.Two of us had desserts x1 of these was disappointing.Would go back as venue is great,staff friendly but not very knowledgeable about the menu.

   Service was really slow to start with at the bar and been seated for our meal and dirty plates left on the side near the steps ( does not look good ) . But food was very good and nice atmosphere . I will return again for the food 👍🏻

   Tried to get into the restaurant but it was fully booked. we were told that the food was the same but the Brasserie was just lest formal. In fact it was just empty (including staff we had to go to the bar to find some one to attend to us))and lacking in any form of ambiance. We booked for 3 and were shown to a table for 2 which was then made up to 3 The menu was limited - not a bad thing if the options are good and the emphasis is on the food. The starters were all excellent. However the main course menu was too limited. My wife & daughter had pork belly and I had a sirloin steak (other options were another steak , fish or vegetarian) The presentation was acceptable but not good. The poke was fine. My steak was a "steak" but nothing special. I am not sure if the chef was using McCain oven chips but if not I will compliment him on the accuracy of eh imitation. My wife and daughter had sweets but I decided to just have a coffee. I expected it to arrive at the same time but I had to wait until they had finished and then they had to wait until I finished my coffee. An exceptionally large cup and even with the extra shot I asked for was weak. During the whole of this the only time we saw any staff was when the food was brought to the table. To replace the empty salt on our table I had to "raid" two others! All in all not an experience I would like to repeat.

    On an overall comment the evening was a disappointment. Slow service,average food at a premium rate.
