Recently awarded best ‘Chips and Salsa’ in Ciudad magazine and as ‘one of the best places to taste tequila’ in Los Angeles by Sunset magazine. Malo is the Silver Lake home to over 150 different tequilas; all of them 100% blue agave; add our fresh sweet and sour made daily in house for a margarita or hit one of our fresh fruit puree margaritas made in house. Malo is a Los Angeles favorite for not only the margaritas and mojitos in the bar, but also the food.

The Ground Beef & Pickle tacos have been written up nationally as one of the best tacos in Los Angeles and the Burnt Habanero & Crema salsa is a local favorite. Fish tacos, Oaxacan shrimp and the Lobster Diablo are our current favorites from the sea and the Carne Asada and Pork Al Pastor rule the land.

Delicious food matched with horrible service. Everyone was seated outside right on top of each other while the waitresses stood inside texting every chance they had. The two would pop out occasionally and look around and head back in. You had to flag a bus boy down in order to get anything.

Such a bummer considering the food was top notch.

Food looked and tasted great, however they were out of multiple options on the menu. Service was poor, was sat without menus, waitress was not around, waited forever to get both the check and to go boxes.

Birthday brunch on the patio, adults with little kids. Yummy Mexican with killer margaritas. Loved the street corn side and my tacos. An abundance of food, friendly service.

The outdoor protected patio with heating lamps was the scenic option. And though people were there on the outdoor heated patio it was quiet and had a nice ambience and was romantic. The food was excellent and the service was absolutely outstanding. We were able to get parking in this crowded area in the medium size parking lot so that was nice.

Malo is going to be a regular stop for us. Great patio, fantastic service, amazing food. We loved it. We are vegan and they had several fantastic options. Our waiter/waitresses have always been helpful and given great suggestions.

During my stay in Southern California, I was craving Mexican food. My friend and I scoured the internet to find something decent or worthwhile to satisfy said desire. We came across Malo, which was easy to make a reservation for (on a Saturday night) and we were seated on the (heated) patio upon arrival. Admittedly, the place is expensive for what they provide. It's really nothing outstanding. I got a Skinny Margarita, their chips and (regular) salsa and the Blasted Half Chicken - which I highly recommend. My friend ordered the Shrimp Diablo, but within two bites, instantly regretted her decision. BEWARE: It's not a plate for the faint of heart! Overall, I'll be eating elsewhere the next time I'm in the area.

Great vibes! Fun, interesting menu items - both in the cocktails as well as food. Really great to see some legit vegan and veggie options as well (vegan menudo?! Didn't order it, but nice to see it on the menu).

Great service! From the hostess, bartender and server- all were wonderful and kind. Meal was excellent. Perfect for groups and great patio dinning. Love this place!

I saw a couple of less than stellar reviews so I was guarded. I don't know what they were seeing.The service was great and the food really yummy. There were three of us, a carnivore, a vegetarian and a vegan. There was something for everyone. We all had tacos with a big salad. I will be going back.

This was my first visit since 2012 and the food was definitely not as good as I remember. The guacamole was fine but none of us enjoyed our entrees, especially for the pricepoint.

However, considering the ambience is nice and a Tecate Michelada is only $6, I'd definitely return for drinks.

The food was delicious! We started with the guacamole which was spicy and chunky. The chicken mole was authentic and shrimp diablos were spicy and tasty. Will definitely go back when I'm in that area.

Menu was a bit limited. patio very dark
Carnitas and steak were good. Shrimp flautas didn't seem to really have much shrimp. Nothing to rave about but ok
Rooster margarita was great! Just a 3/5 for overall.

I've been here several times before, but mostly for happy hour in the bar. This last time in the main room the service was slow - almost non-existent (it was 7 PM in a Sunday and the dining room was only 1/3 full). Waited several minutes for our drink order to be taken and then several more minutes for our server to appear. He showed up once more after were were practically done. We had to flag down a food runner to ask for our him. The food itself was "Meh". Beans were salty and rice tasted overcooked/stale. I expect more from this place. But maybe that's my fault.

Ordered one of the shrimp dishes and my wife did too, it was delicious and very satisfying. I will definitely come back to try the other dishes.
