Our dinner was great!! We have never had a bad meal and the service is always exceptional!!!
Awesome food, awesome server (Allison, I think)! We will certainly be back and recommend to friends and family!
the location of the table they gave us was poor,, facing an outside wall on the west part, even though it was 5:45 and ther restaurant was EMPTY. We made reservations thru open table and requested a better seating position and was denied with the excuse that all was reserved and full,, but all was empty,
why did we get this table?? maybe because the reservations was not done directly to them....
spending this much money on a dinner and having a horrible location is not nice
We enjoyed our birthday dinner. Everything was very good, especially steaks. Never had something like they taste before.
We checked in and the host was distracted, disappearing for 5 minutes with a line backing up. Very little eye contact was made, and despite a reservation, no Choice was given on seating. Our server also seemed distracted. They would come to the table briefly and disappear quickly. At one point waiting on questions, the staff member was stacking plates and doing side work. We seemed as if we were inconveniencing the people at the restaurant
Highly disappointing. I took my 16 year old son here for his birthday while we were in town for a cruise. I love a good steak, and he loves lobster bisque, so we wanted a good steakhouse near our hotel. Malio’s was supposed to be one of the best in town. We should have gone somewhere else. First, I decided to try a steak done au poivre style, which means the steak is encrusted in black peppercorns, seared, and then a creamy sauce is made, I think with a little brandy, beef stock, and cream. I was told on ordering that “they were out of au poivre” Really???!!! How are you out of a sauce you make to order? It turns out they make the sauce ahead of time, not to order. Shame on you. They didn’t even offer to make it to order. So I ordered the peppercorn filet pappardelle pasta, with the filet done medium rare. When our food came, including our two family sized side dishes, my steak on the pasta was well done! So, they apologized and gladly took it back and reprepared it, but meanwhile I had my son go ahead and eat. They asked if I wanted the sides taken away and kept warm while they remade my dish. What?? My son was eating, how about they bring me fresh sides with my food?? We had already waited a long time, he was starving, so I said no thank you. When my remade dish came, the steak was more rare than medium rare. I should have asked for a manager, but my son gets embarrassed in these situations, so I said nothing. They were out of the wine I wanted, but the recommendation from our server was very similar and very good. It was so noisy you couldn’t hardly talk to each other. No manager ever came by to check on us, and the time between our server checking on us was quite long. Maybe she had too many tables. The place was busy but not packed. My sons lobster bisque was very good. He doesn’t like chunks in it so the smooth creaminess was great. All in all, I would not return. Too many other great steakhouses in Tampa.
Food was very good. New York Strip was done perfectly. We liked the grilled vegetable dish as an entree- not only well-prepared but also made it easier to share a non-meat dish. Service (Audrey) was terrific.
If your looking for high quality food that is perfectly prepared with flavors that are uniquely blended to create a masterpiece, Malio’s is your place. Service was well balanced using a team approach to make sure I had the appropriate balance of attention and time to enjoy my meal. I have already recommended Malio’s to peers and clients and I look forward to visiting Tampa again so I can have my next Malio’s masterpiece.
My friend and I had plans to grab a quick drink and bite (happy hour pricing) before going to see Anastasia at the Straz next door. We were seated in the main dining area and provided with dinner menus. We asked about the happy hour menus and were told you had to be seated in the bar area or outside patio. We were then moved to an outdoor patio area where one waitress was waiting on approximately 6-8 tables. Most people appeared to have had the same idea about grabbing a quick drink and/or bite before seeing the show. The service was inadequate. It was extremely warm sitting outside while the pleasantly temperatured dining area remained completely empty. Also, we walked in the restaurant at 5:55 p.m. and were told they could not validate the parking since the ticket was pulled prior 6 p.m. so the parking was $9.00 was for 1.25 hours. I feel like the happy hour should be enjoyed in the restaurant since it was completely empty instead of being shuffled to a crowded bar area or outside. I feel like when you have a good experience, then you will want to come back to celebrate other occasions outside of happy hour. Tampa is blessed with wonderful steakhouses and having this sort of experience will not make me want to come back anytime soon.
I made a reservation for my graduation dinner and called the restaurant to ask a few questions. The host assumed I only had one question and hung up, had to call several times just to clarify everything. The restaurant was out of mash potatoes, the sides are meant to be shared the waitress brings two baked potatoes instead and charges us for the baked potatoes. The chef messed up one of the orders. I was overall unsatisfied with my graduation dinner.
We were brought to our table on time and greeted kindly. But we found the dining room to be less than appealing. You can see right into the kitchen which is not set up for a typical open style kitchen. Our table was set up so our backs are to the room and we looked out a window onto the back of a casual outdoor bar area including a propane tank storage unit. People were standing in front of our window looking at their own reflection. Our server was very sweet and fairly attentive. However, she struggled with service, dripping our wine on the table and spilling water onto my dinner plate. We ordered filet mignons medium which both came out medium rare. All sides are ala carte and were tasty. The steaks were re-cooked and had pretty good flavor. We ended with the creme brulee and cappuccino which were both delicious. We came, we tried, but not our favorite steak house in Tampa.
We were very happy with the entire experience
My husband and I were both disappointed in the food, and the selection of entrees. We knew it was primarily a steak restaurant so we were expecting something more along the lines of a Bern's Steakhouse.
Great Place!!!!! Staff is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Place was so loud we couldn't hear each other. Was seated and waited over 15 min with no service what so ever, no waiter, no water, table next to us was seated and waited on. We left for the poorest service I have seen in sometime. First and last time we will go there. Went to what was to be a special evening and was totally ruined.
My wife and I dined at Malio's for our wedding anniversary and we are happy we did. Great menu selection with a nice variety of options, but not too many to the point where you have trouble narrowing down. Our server was fantastic from the moment she greeted us "happy anniversary" upon introduction.
She was quickly available and responsive anytime we needed her throughout our experience. My wife was debating between the Filet Tip (peppercorn) Salad and the Filet Tip with a side salad. I know sounds the same but trust me it was different. We took our servers suggestion of peppercorning the Filet Tip. Great suggestion it was delicious! For desert espresso shots and the brownie and ice cream, to which or server jazzed it up with candles for anniversary. Very nice touch. Overall, great food and great experience from beginning to end!
This place is an over priced upscale Texas Roadhouse. The noise level in such an expensive restaurant wasn’t managed properly. Obnoxious guests that weren’t asked to keep their volume down. The food was over priced - not to mention the pasta (linguini) was over cooked.
We ordered the lobster bisque and was asked to add lobster for an additional $6. Good thing we did because had we not, there would have been zero lobster in it. $15 for bisque?? Really?
When we reserved our table for an important evening (engagement) we weren’t told they had $5 valet parking available. So instead we had to park 1/2 mile away and pay $20.
The server was phenomenal. That was the only good thing about this place.
Dined at the original Malio's many years ago, and it was a real treat. First time at the "new" Malio's, which was every bit(e) as enjoyable as the previous experience. Food was excellent, served in a timely way; server was attentive without being intrusive, and very knowledgeable of the menu. The interior design is attractive, a cosmopolitan feel. Will return much sooner next time.
We had a lovely dinner! Great service! We ordered the Crab cakes and creamed corn with jalapeño. It was so delicious and the ambience at Malio’s is wonderful! We have always enjoyed this place.
Just missed on not knowing about being out of escargot and than sambuca, brought over black sambuca and just assumed that I wanted it, should have taken care of the Buca since I wanted it with my double espresso
Steaks mis-cooked the first time and were poor cuts.
We found this little hidden gem and now we went twice in a row.
The happy hour is SO GOOD - sit outside right on the Riverwalk.
Delicious burgers - great atmosphere.
Excellent Happy Hour menu.
Took forever to get food both appetizers and main
Bar area was great and bartender was awesome. Got seated and took forever to get greeted and drinks. Then placed order and I got the lobster Oscar and the lobster was sour, so sent back. My wife has no choice but to eat her steak and the potatoes that we are sharing so they don’t get cold. The manager came and saw us and apologized and said they would bring out new potatoes so I would have fresh with my steak, keeping in mind my wife is done. Well they brought out my new steak and I will say it was cooked perfect and tasted great. Manager never came and asked about how my new steak was nor ever brought me new sides. I strongly do not recommend. This was our anniversary dinner and honestly it was ruined. It will be Berns next time, where we have been several times. Just thought we would try something different. Malio’s came recommended from a friend. Not a good experience .
Outstanding Happy Hour weekdays. The drinks and the food were incredible. I highly recommend the burgers. The staff is super friendly!
The food was excellent, between the 4 of us we had steak, lobster tails, and pasta. All were excellent! We were celebrating a birthday, the waitress brought us an eloquently decorated desert that said Happy Birthday in chocolate. Our friend was thrilled.
Food was not hot.
Dirty dishes not cleared.
Ambiance not great.
Malio's has captured the panache of the former Malio's and raised the game to compete with the plethora of new competition in the Tampa market. The menu offers a variety of items and my experience is that each is done extraordinarily well. It seems at least to me that food; from the quality of the product to the skills of a demanding chef, comes first. Service is as good as I have experienced. It seems that if you are local you will always see friends at Malio's and if you are visiting you will be treated like a frequenter. Try it and order what you like on the menu and you'll more than likely agree that it is at or very near the top of food offerings in this market.
Always have a great experience when dining at Malio’s. I keep coming.
The food and the service was outstanding. I went two days in a row. I had the Filet Mignon and the New York strip and they were excellent. The sides were great the bread was extremely tasty.
I highly recommend it!
First time there, the whole experience from pre dinner drinks, the meal and service, AWESOME, Off the Charts Fantastic.
Good steakhouse. Quiet discreet location if desired not much of a view because of building construction. Had a great cut of meat but the al a carte sides always kill me when they charge $46 for a ribeye. Hate to play comparisons but for same price Berns would have thrown in salad, French onion soup, baked potatoe, and a fresh vegetable.
Just the facts.
Great classic dining.
Party of 4 this past Saturday. Prime Rib and Delmonico were flavorful and tender. The sea bass was firm and fresh. The price for our meals was fair. We for sure will come back. The only negative was the coffee, it was bitter.
Overall, a great meal and dining experience! Although on the higher priced side of things, portions were large and quality was excellent. Only downside was that most of the food seemed excessively salty.
The portions have radically changed for the worse and I did no bring my magnifiers to be able to see my steak. This has been one of my favorite restaurants in tampa for over 20 years and I’m really disappointed.
Server brought our food and never came back. Ordered wine with dinner we never got. Had to go ask another server for our bill. Food is very good but our service was terrible. 😠
Daniel the server was outstanding! One of the best servers I have experienced in a while.
