Beef Wellington a disappointment. The pastry was chewy and flat, the pate tasteless, and they butterfly cut it before serving. I think they do this because they really do not know how to time the doneness. Takes all the fun out of the dish, as well as all the heat!
Another wonderful dining experience at a favorite restaurant.
Table of four, each person was happy with their food. Great atmosphere, was the perfect choice for a special occasion. Prices were a little high for the portion sizes, but not unreasonable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, but the service was a little slow, especially towards the end of our dinner (around 7:00). Overall, I would recommend Maldaner's to others.
Maldaner's is one of my favorite restaurants in Springfield! The menu is great ! The chef uses fresh and local whenever available so seasonal items are offered throughout the year. Lot's of history in the restaurant and surrounding area.
Menu is limited but chicken fricasee was delicious
I forgot how nice that place is; pricey but worth it.
Had a great meal with superb service as usual. Never disappoints.
Pleasant, comfortable, and perfect evening. Service was outstanding
Very good service. Food choice was excellent. Had the roast beef sandwich and chip's. Very nice for a business setting.
Despite the half empty restaurant we were seated at a cramped table for two, very close to another couple. My companion was knocked about as waiters and staff walked by. Service and food were just OK and at the prices they charge it should have been stellar. Waiter took my wine when it still had my final in it-disappointing!
We had fine food and good service. The location was near the theatre where we were going after dinner. The ambiance was a little louder than I prefer for conversation, but the decor was old-school elegant.
Wonderful as always. My date (wife) had the Smoked Trout and I had the Quail. Five stars all around!
Great early dinner before the theater. Everything was top notch.
The hostess was a doll. We were greeted right away and felt taken care of. The atmosphere was wonderful. Good vibe. Lucky enough to be sat by the window. Lovely evening. The food was good. The wine was good. A very lovely evening. Great date place :)
The food is always good, plenty of menu options, and a decent wine list. The wait staff are always nice and professional.
Excellent as always, pricey, but worth every penny. Creative specials, dynamite bartender, melt in your mouth beef, excellent salads and aps. Love it!
A fine blend of classic and new American cuisine with attentive service.
Maldaner’s is a favorite! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Service and food were excellent, couldn’t have been better.
The food was prepared well, but the menu options were limited. It was overpriced for what we ordered and that is why it is not a good value.
The staff was courteous and professional as always. I had the ribeye and my wife had the prime rib. Both were cooked nicely, however both were unexceptional and boring. We have been going to Maldaners for over 20 years. The cuisine used to be on par with the best restaurants in Chicago and St. Louis. Sadly, that is no longer the case. The creativity seems to be gone. The menu is stagnant and rarely changed. We use to love this Maldaners but we won’t be back for a while. Too bad!
The Beef Wellington is to die for. Accompanied by fresh vegetables and potatoes it is the dish to get. Don’t forget to follow it up with the flourless Chocooate Cake!!
Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Presentation was beautiful, and the atmosphere is very mature. Food was underwhelming. Swordfish special was as dry as the bread and ribeye was the right temperature but tasted like charcoal. Butternut squash pumpkin spice soup was on the sweet side.
Food... amazing
Service... amazingly attentive
Noise... a little loud for me
The over all experience was great! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
They never let the water glass go empty ... it’s like the waitstaff acted a team!!
It was perfect!
Excellent food was served by an excellent service staff! Wonderful dining!
Excellent! We were visiting Springfield and fortunately found great reviews online that matched the experience.
Well ... there's good news and there's bad news.
Good News: The prime rib and martini were superior. Great job.
Bad News: The amount of veggies served we're pathetically small. In particular, the mashed potatoes. I LOVE mashed potatoes with a great steak. Didn't happen.
Next time, Augie's Front Burner.
A special shout-out to our server, Sam. He made our overall experience a great one. 😊
Excellent updated menu. Always good service. Locally owned and arguably Springfields only fine dining restaurant. Strongly recommend
Food was excellent. We both ordered seafood- halibut special for the birthday guy and wonderful salmon for me. Our waiter Jesse was very efficient and professional. Our martinis and wine were perfect. It was a birthday dinner for my husband and they gave him a delicious complimentary dessert. The whole evening was quite enjoyable.
There for celebration. The table to the left of us was really loud. But the food was outstanding
As usual the food was delicious. I had the signature Beef Wellington which is always consistent. Many locally produced items are on the menu. Difficulty is in narrowing your selections for the evening.
We have been to Muldaners many times over the last 30 years and have always enjoyed the food and the dinings experience. A special place for special occasions. It's also great that they grow herbs and produce in their rooftop garden.
Wonderful, charming historic ambience, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. Pretty outdoor dining.
Excellent quality food with nice presentation. The bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes was delicious. We also had the warm goat cheese salad. The goat cheese was amazing. The burger, cooked in duck fat, was fresh and juicy. We finished off our meal with creme brûlée- also excellent. Fresh brewed iced tea was a bonus. Excellent, attentive service. Great atmosphere. Historic restaurant with fresh, farm to table ingredients. Highly recommend.
This is our favorite place to dine while in Springfield. We chose our hotel so that we would be within walking distance of Maldaners! Our server, Brett, was wonderful and made great suggestions. Food was outstanding! I chose quail stuffed with sausage while my wife had salmon. Both were outstanding! We will go back!
Delicious food and well presented.
Warm Goat Cheese Salad is outstanding.
Lamb Rack is excellent.
Savannah cake is lovely.
A very pleasant dinner outdoors. My wife and I shared a wedge salad and prime rib. While the wedge salad was small, we wished we ordered one each, it was very tasty and the romaine was crisp. The prime rib was one of the best we ever had. It was well seasoned and a perfect temperature. The sides were fresh and tasty. Overall a fine meal. Thanks.
Excellent as usual! We love Maldaners!!
The best fine dining in Springfield!
