We where for our son’s birthday. We had a great time with a great authentic argentinian meal.
Great Argentinian steak house. We shared a parilla tray which was phenomenal. Wine recommendation, the Malbec Rose, was spot on as well by the wait staff. We will definitely be going back.
Great food if you crave meat. The service was very friendly too. I think the side dishes are a bit pricey for grilled vegetable.
Delicious food, quiet and comfortable atmosphere
We had empanadas of meat and ham and cheese and they were great. Then we had a barbecue with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables, and everything was very good and tasty. They offer a wide cart of Argentinian wines, most of them Malbec. Accessible prices for what they offer. Very good attention.
We loved this place. The owner helped with the service and really made the dining experience memorable. The ceviche was delicious with a kick of spice. Several of us had the beef tenderloin and the others had the seafood casserole, and all enjoyed the dishes. Very large wine list of malbecs (and others) with good-priced specials. Definitely will be coming back next time in DC.
I arrived a bit earlier than my reservation the the staff seated me right away. The beef tenderloin with veggies in chimichurri sauce was delicious. The chorizo with manchengo cheese gratin was amazing. The staf were attentive and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place. Btw, it’s next to one of DC’s karaoke bar’s.
Tiny portions: an appetizer of shrimp and garlic with three shrimps, a side of mashed potatoes with steak that looks like the Army plopped it down in a chow line. The meal was OK, but I've seen far better for Argentine steak ....
Will definitely be going back! Lovely ambiance, great food, and a nice quiet place that wasnt too noisy. Very pleased with this hole-in-the-wall gem!
It was very romantic and delicious
The appetizers and the entrees (mostly meat) we ordered were pretty good. The steak was certainly the highlight, I think the low light for me would be the sausages which did not have a ton of flavor but were still tasty. The wine recommendation was excellent, my girlfriend likes Rose so the waiter recommended a Malbec-Rose blend which was not too sweet and very delicious.
The service was excellent and our waiter was extremely friendly and gave us good recommendations. We got put in a corner next to the window which felt a little bit cramped and I could not see the rest of the dining room, but we were able to focus on our company more than looking around the rest of the room. A nice place to get a good bottle of wine and some good food.
They completely ignored the note I put on OpenTable that it was my wife's birthday. I had asked for a dessert with a candle and they did not accommodate.
We had been meaning to try Malbec for ages, and decided to go on a Wednesday evening, when wines under $52 are half priced. We had a great meal, and very good service. We ordered several different kinds of empanadas, and the regular skirt steak and the skirt steak special. Both were delicious-and a nice way to appreciate the grilled flavor when it was cold and rainy outside. The wine we ordered was wonderful (recommended by waiter, and cost only $26 with the discount)
Having spent much time in Argentina myself, I was delighted. The steaks are perfect, the vegetables great, proper empanadas— great wine!
Friendly staff but most of our entrees were not good
This is a steak place. The wine the server recommended was perfect. I was able to make a large reservation same-day. Everyone enjoyed it!
We had a lovely time. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, we loved it!
It was Wonderful. Food was great. Staff was helpful. Will go back.
We have been to Malbec a number of times. When the weather is warm it is a great place to sit outside and enjoy a bottle of wine and a good meal. When we went in the winter it was not crowded at all. We've had many different cuts of steak they have had at this point: The NY Strip, skirt steak, and short ribs. My dad also got the rack of lamb and enjoyed it a lot. One note on the steaks: Be sure to mention how you want it cooked. Otherwise they will cook the steak quite rare (which I like, but not everyone does).
The roasted peppers side dish is great, and the shrimp appetizer and sausage appetizers are delicious.
The steak is a good value for a steakhouse in the area. Sides are priced separately.
Servers are always very kind and let you set the pace of your meal.
We had such a good time at Malbec, the good was good and the owner was lovely. Very cozy.
Had an absolutely wonderful meal with excellent wine. Brought me back to my time in Buenos Aires as their food and wine is of the same quality.
Great restaurant, easy to reserve for larger groups, food was very good and well priced. Highly recommend!
Comimos muy bien , rico como en Argentina , mercadería muy buena , todo excelente !
Great service and wonderful food. We always enjoy having a night out here.
The wait staff, wine, food and anything else I did not mention was great. The restaurant does not open up until 530pm on Saturday though, but they were great with adjusting my reservation time.
There are few places in DC where one can enjoy Argentinian food. I enjoyed it as did my Argentinian husband.
This is a very authentic Argentine restaurant. The parrillada was delicious, high quality meat, good chorizo, and served sizzling at the table. The staff is extremely friendly and the restaurant is stylish but not overly serious. It feels like a visit to Buenos Aires.
Outrageously expensive, Lomo steaks the size of a 1/4lb. burger at $30.00. Waiter wanted to know what temperature I wanted the steak? Really? we asked for juicy, juice left on the burner, we were only of 2 tables and waited 20/25 minutes for the food. There were 3 of us and they gave us 5 small slices of very good French bread, 5, to be shared with appetizer and main course. Flan con dulce de leche had less than 1/4 teaspoon of dulce de leche. The bartender was a piece of sleaze, tried to overcharge me for 2 glasses of wine. All in all an absolute disappointment, do not plan to return and not only would I not recommend it, but I will urge anyone I know to stay away from it. The restaurant is an insult to Argentine dining. Grass fed beef at $50.00, please!!! There are many other steak houses far better than this, just walk down half a block to Annie's Paramount Steakhouse, employees there are far better knowledgeable and educated about the food and service. At Malbec's the waiter never asked my kids if they wanted something to drink! And we still paid $200.00. The sooner this place closes, the sooner someone else will open a decent place.
Great food! Excellent wine choice. Wonderful service.
Great dinner. Meat cooked excellently.
We got the meat platter and it was so good and definitely makes it worth checking out! It was a unique concept where you got to try so many varieties of meat. The sides we got were mashed potatoes and asparagus. These were good but nothing to brag about which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. However their wine list is also on point. We got a very delicious bottle of Malbec and everything was decently priced!
Empanadas were great!
Reminded me of my mom’s cooking 😊
Excellent food and service! Definitely will go back!!!
Great place and great prices. I would definitely visit again.
Excellent yet unobtrusive service. Food was excellent and price fix lunch a real deal.
Great food and ambiance and prices are not bad at all.
We selected a wine but waiter brought us a cheap Norton instead claiming it was better. Also, waitstaff should be familiar with the menu - waiter didn't now what "palta" meant even though it was on the menu (South Americans call avocado 'palta' not aguacate).
Food was not good, great attempt but not succesful. Waiter was disorganized and tried to be nice by making jokes... he said that there was something in the menu that was not, he meant to be funny... he kept joking around (loudly) with other customers and the overall ‘relaxing’ ambiance was disturbed by this out of place behavior. Mollejas were chewy, they are the most tender part of the parrillada... well, not here. Bife de Chorizo was a good medium, but the juices were on the plate, it did mot have salt at all and the char from the grilled had this strong burned-like flavor, my guess is that they have not clean the grill in a while. I will not recommend it.
