Malbec - Toluca Lake
I’ve eaten here many times and have yet to have a bad meal. Service is attentive and the food is excellent.
When our waiter asked how was everything..? We answered it’s not what we were expecting ... it’s way better !!
Great food. Great wine. Perfect.
It’s a nice restaurant with a European vibe. The food was good. The only disappointment was the bread they served with the chimichurri sauce to start was very stale.
Wonderful and delicious
Great food, but a bit too noisy, especially if you're sitting near a noisy couple, as we were. Some of it may be the acoustics, but also the tables are very close together. There is a back room for overflow, which is probably quieter when in use. Food and service were a definite yes, but the environment fell short.
server was very accommodating with a smile!
Great as always... personable staff def would come back
I go to Malbec repeatedly for both business dinners and lunches, as well as personal dinners. They don't necessarily advertise it but they do have kids meals there and my 9 year old loves their choices. Would recommend (and do recommend) Malbec to anyone.
It's rather a neighborhood restaurant...a very nice one, to be sure; and you feel transported out of Los Angeles. Elegant, good food--and the waiter was very attentive. I'd say it's probably a better value than going to Musso & Frank's in Hollywood and more intimate.
Always love Malbec, you can't go wrong here! The sangria is great, we had the pasta with seafood and the Crème Brulee, all were fantastic!
The food is good, try the empanadas. The skirt steak was excellent. The staff is always pleasant and friendly.
Pleasant and attentive service, and nice ambiance. The New York strip is my favorite. Always cooked to a perfect medium rare.
The room is a little loud and there was a screaming baby. The food is great. I could live off of the empanadas!!! Great seafood. Yummy steak! I love Malbec!
This was our first time going there and right away we got greeted by Friendly staff and they sat us down and
Everything about this restaurant is first rate. We had a reservation and got the best seat in the house. Our server was the nicest young lady and her smile lit up the room. She took excellent care of us! And the FOOD! Oh my! Delicious!
Excellent customer service. Staff very friendly and did not need to wait long to be assisted. Quality of food excellent. Will definitely come back again.
Too noisy, couldn't hear my guest, had to scream in order to converse.
Malbec is a favorite for me and my friends. The steak salad with arugula and veggies is outstanding every time. One of my friends is over the moon about a pasta dish. There are plenty of good choices. My water glass is kept full which I appreciate. So many good things about this place -- come try it!
Food was absolutely Delish!
A small cozy place with outstanding quality service and food, the house wine is always reliable. A long time favorite will be there every time I come back to LA
Service was unbelievable, very attentive and the recommendations were on point.
Empanadas were under cooked. I would call true Argentinian food.
Lunch on a Saturday, very quiet so hard to judge. Place looked nice staff was friendly portions well sized and meat tasted nicely of the parrilla as it should.
Wine list had interesting AR and Uruguayan wines.
I would try it at dinner
Went with my girlfriend and her father. We had a wonderful meal and experience. Highly recommended.
bolognese was amazing!! can't wait to try everything on the menu!
It was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back
Great service. Aji cebiche was very nice. Sole was well prepared, generous portion. Nice wine list, a bit pricey. Dulce de leche crepes were also very tasty.
Great Food-Great Service -Great ambiance- Great Location
I have to admit that I am a neighbor and have been going to this restaurant since it opened..... the last few years the brother’s have overcome the problem of suppliers by opening up a central receiving and market. They age their meats and this has given them an unmatched consistency. I know the owners -Pablo, Luciano and Javier and they have consistently made an effort to provide excellent service, quality of food and a superb dining experience.
I have read all the reviews and must admit that I can not believe they are reviewing the same restaurant. Yes, the restaurant foot print is small and the place is popular. When it is full it is noisy but take that as a compliment to the people who come and enjoy.
The wait staff has always been pleasant and to be honest I have never known nor seen a time when they don’t go out of their way to make any issue right.
We have been lucky to dine overseas as my wife was born in London, England and this compares to a lively European or Argentinian restaurant, vibrant, lively and fun. The wines are good and reasonably priced. If you want to enjoy a restaurant with old world charm and character this is the place. If you want quiet, this is probably not the place.
The BEST "Fritto Misto", calamari/shrimp and mushroom dish!!
And THANK YOU for always serving your champagne nice and cold in a chilled flute!!
We went Saturday evening 9/8 for an early dinner. The hostess was so rude and seemed put out that we were there. The waiter never made eye contact, even when asking you a question. The food was good. The service at this restaurant used to be outstanding and friendly, now it's got this "attitude" that I don't like or understand. It's Toluca Lake, not Beverly Hills. I won't be going back.
All the food was very good. There are plenty of options, even for the folks in our party that don’t eat red meat.
We are never disappointed with the food, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Yummy chimichurri, too!
Everything was just right ... food, service, location... only downfall, for my business meeting, it was a little loud. Not horrible but the sound is a bit bouncy there. Overall, the folks at Malbec do a wonderful job. It was good to see them nice and busy.
I was really excited to go to Malbec. I heard great things, read great reviews. The food was delicious and exactly what we expected. We had a delicious wine. I appreciated that we were able to test two before deciding on the second which was more to our liking. We had a very nice server who was very personable. Unfortunately, the service experience really defined our evening. There was what appeared to be a large party in a backroom of the restaurant and our server (we were at the front of the restaurant) was handling both our table and the room in the back. It did not go well for us. We had to wait unusually long amounts of time to get service. One example, our server brought over the second bottle of wine for us to try. She poured a taste into a glass and set the bottle on our table and left. I tried the wine, it was lovely, but after approximately 10 minutes of waiting for her to return to ensure the wine was our choice and to pour (I would never presume to pour it myself as I would not know the restaurant's pour amounts), I asked someone else to step in to do it. Secondly, our dinner arrived and while two of the three guests received their whole meal, one guest who ordered a steak received first the steak, approximately 5 minutes later the accompanying fries (not a special request, part of the dish), and then a secondary sauce. If Malbec could improve on its service, I would visit again. The food really was delicious and the staff was definitely trying.
The food was only fair. I had salmon with the pear salad. The salmon was cooked properly but lacked any flavor or seasoning at all. There were 3 small slices of pears and 3 cherry tomatoes cut up and 3 pieces of beets along with a very tiny amount of dressing. I asked for additional dressing to give some flavor to the meal. Not much provided for the money. Very lackluster.
Delicious food and wonderful service makes Malbec a great place for dinner. We had empanadas for appetizers, and the spinach and cheese one was to die for. We ordered the mixta steak, which came out sizzling, and we liked the 3 dipping sauces. For a side, we ordered garlic fries, which were good, but we should have gone a little healthier and gotten some kind of veggies. The service was excellent, and our waiter made good recommendations, while the bus boy never let our water level drop to below 1/2"! Malbec is a bit expensive, but is a nice treat once in a while.
Great, always a good time
We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary tonight. Our server was great, the food was very good and the atmosphere was lovely.
Love the food! Love the atmosphere. Love that they PROMOTE the DineLA right as you sit down and don't shame you into feeling badly that you're going to take advantage of the offer. Their menu offerings were well thought out. LOVED the wine tasting portions suggested with each menu item. The wines were delicious! My date and I shared everything and were so happy we did. Will definitely return.
