Malbec - Pasadena
I didn’t like the waiter. Not friendly at all. And his hair didn’t look clean and brushed. They should be careful with the service.
Great service and excellent food. Look forward to returning
Amazing food, amazing servers. Will be back for sure again and again.
waiter was fantastic! Suggested menu items, knowledgeable in wine, and very tentative. Steak was excellent, so was Paella & tenderloin.
I’ve been coming here for many years, and have always left satisfied. The service is phenomenal and the food is great! It’s one of a few restaurants, that cooks my steak as I ask to be cooked; be medium rare, or whatever my guests ask for.
Wine selection is plentiful and could satisfy anyone. It’s always a nice experience dining here at Malbec.
We this have been at this restaurant quite a few times for special occasions, and have never been disappointed.
Amazing food! The service was excellent. Ruben was on top of everything. Made a fabulous wine recommendation. Worth EVERY cent.
Great food, unique and interesting menu, cozy atmosphere, attentive service.
The food and service was exceptional. My rib-eye was charred perfectly, just the way I like it. I'm do glad I decided to try a new (new to me) restaurant.
Food was great. Only issue was that we were in additional room which was very noisy, not so attractive and dark. We felt like We are in the train station.. I think, there is room for improvement, to control level of noise and make the room more attractive and cozy for visitors.
Empanada appetizer was excellent with n uh nervous choices. DineLA dinner food was delicious. Dessert delightful and Malbec wine my favorite.
While the food is wonderful and service quite good, the noise level is just too much for me. I even chose a seat around the corner from the bathroom to avoid the noisier section. Were I to come back I would need to do so in fair weather so I could sit outside.
Loved the food. Service was great. Plan on going back in the next two weeks
Good food and excellent service.
This was a birthday dinner celebration for a dear friend; there were four in our group. We told the server that we were celebrating a birthday when we were seated. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food was delicious - we ordered empanadas and cebiche classico for appetizers, ojo de bife, choclos asados, napolitana lomo, and two brochette specials. Our server, Eric, was personable and helpful with food and drink suggestions. We will definitely return.
Fantastic vegetarian option as well as the expected meat
Wonderful place. Good food, friendly people, accommodating. No wonder it has been on Green Street for many years and continued to be so successful
We were seated promptly. Servers were attentive to our needs, including dietary restrictions. As always, food was tasty, well-prepared, and served appropriately hot. Wine selection is somewhat limited, and (appropriately) ranges toward Argentinian wines.
We were dining with friends from East Coast whom we hadn't seen in many years. Dinner was enjoyable, but noise level was high enough that conversation was possible but difficult.
The food is phenomenal. I highly recommend the cebiche classico, as well as the mussels in lemon butter sauce. Our server kindly refilled our bread basket, so we were able to make the most out of that lovely, lovely seafood broth. Another hit was the fillet sole, as well as the steak with chimichurri sauce.
If the restaurant were to improve anything, it's that servers seemed really eager to take our plates even if we were still working on the little bits of food that we still had on them. I had to ask a server not to take away my salad because it still had some food on it, and I don't like wasting food unnecessarily. I don't know what the rush was for given that there were only two tables of guests and no need for more plates.
The experience at Malbec was still wonderful. Our food was delicious and served at the perfect temperature. We were treated like family.
We got there at noon before the Pasadena Showcase House. We were the first ones there but by the time we left the restaurant was crowded. This was my second time there. Last time was for dinner and the meat from the grill was great. This was lunch and I order the steak Milanese sandwich. It was a thin thin slice of beef fried with a bread coating. It was terrible. I would go back but would order from the grill
Great food great service. One of the best steaks/meals I’ve had. Definitely will go back next time I’m in Pasadena!
Came here for Friday lunch. It was my second visit. Service was excellent all throughout our lunch. Food was delicious, ambience was nice; unfortunately, street parking was only 1 hour so we ended up parking in a paid private lot across the street coz we knew lunch was going to be over an hour. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will go there again.
My mother was here for mother's day and she had a great time. There is nothing better to be said than that my mother had a great time and enjoyed the food.
We love this place! Service is 100% great! Very attentive and friendly. The food was great as well! One of the best restaurants we've dined out to recently. We'll come back again.
Food as amazing as usual and the staff was great.
Mother’s Day celebration
Malbec offers the closest thing to true Argentinian cuisine without flying to Buenos Aires! Your first meal here should be tradional: Entrana al Chimichurri, Pure de Papas, and for dessert, Panqueques De Dulce De Leche. After that, you'll want to return and delve deeper into the other menu selections. An authentic Argentinan experience, with great service to match!
We were celebrating our anniversary and thought because of the prices it would be a formal restaurant but it is pretty casual. I'm comparing that to Ruth's Chris for example. It was noisy but not overly. We spent a few weeks in Argentina and ate the best beef of our lives. Of course, in Argentina there's great, good and average beef but the great beef is outstanding and very inexpensive compared to U.S. prices. Our usual go-to steakhouse is Ruth's Chris but we were excited to try Malbec.
I'm only going to write about the steak. We ordered one bife de chorizo, which was our favorite cut in Argentina. We split one steak cooked medium-rare. The chef sliced in on a sizzling platter for us. It was cooked PERFECT! It had a delicious flavorful char on the outside and the inside was beautiful red with a warm center. It was not quite as good as the same cut in Argentina but it was very, very close and excellent. There was a little gristle. It's so flavorful that no chimichurri is necesssary, in fact, I think it spoils it because the meat was so flavorful. The 16-oz steak and two sides was plenty for me and my husband. I liked their bife de chorizo better than Ruth's Chris rib eye (which can be too fatty for me) and I think it has more flavor than Ruth's Chris filet. Also, Malbec costs less than Ruth's Chris however it's not as nice an atmosphere for a special occasion.
Service was excellent!!!
Good for group.
Malbec's has everything: great food, impeccable service, upscale ambiance and a superb wine list. To begin our dinner we ordered the Cebiche Amarillo, yellowfin tuna ceviche. It was delightful and savory; a perfect appetizer. from there it was the Malbec salad, a feast of greens, fruit and avocado. The Entraña (skirt steak) was tender and succulent in its native malbec wine reduction. Served with sauteed spinach and creamy mashed potatoes this entree is a meat eater's delight. We also savored the Salmon in a Tapanade served over saffron rice. Our senses were immediately invaded with exotic mid-Eastern spice. As fantastic as the food was, the service was even better. Our server, Younes, a young Spaniard from Mallorca, took very special interest in everything we ordered, answering our questions with knowledge and professionalism. When we found out that our Bianchi Mendoza Cabernet was out of stock (it was the wine of the month), Younes immediately recommended two other equally fine labels. The one we decided one was an excellent companion to our meals, another Mendoza Cabernet with chocolate aftertastes and an explosively floral palate. Younes was very attentive to our specific dietary requirements and made requested substitutions with grace and a knowing nod of the head. This is one place that we will return to, many times.
This was a restaurant that my son recommended. Boy, was he right! The food was flavored perfectly. Everything that we ordered, from appetizers to the main course was fantastic. This will not be the last time that we come here.
We arrived a few minutes late and were seated at once. We both had the Lomo, which is a bacon wrapped filet and found cooked as ordered and very flavorful. We also had the Luca Malbec and found it delightful. A terrific dining experience, and we didn't feel rushed and made our follow-on commitment on time.
Great place. So far I have tried the lamb and their paella. Both of these dishes are outstanding. My wife had the skirt steak both times, very tasty. Be sure to ask for Ruben. He's the best. Their chimichuri is bursting with flavor. If you are there before 5:30, you have to find street parking. After 5:30 they offer valet.
Love this place!! Looking for excuse to come to Pasadena again.
The food at Malbec is wonderful. Our server was great. But the noise was so loud our table of 4 could hardly talk. If the noise was gone Malbec would be one of my favorite restaurants.
I'm actually from Argentina and can attest to the fact that this place is definitely authentic which is why I came to dine here for my wedding anniversary. Great food
The gnocchi was served cold and overcooked--it was mushy. The corn was also barely warm when served.
The grilled vegetables were delicious and served at the proper temperature.
It's better to dine here in the evening--we had an early dinner, and much of the ambience is lost in the light of day.
Very friendly staff. All our needs were met. Wish I hadmoes doom to eat other things.
Corkage too high cost. Food excellent. Server may have started yesterday. Noise unbearable, but it was Saturday night.
The meat dishes and empanadas were excellent but the paella dish and the noodle seafood dish were not very flavorful and too fishy. Our server was great and the ambience was good. Service of food was a bit slow but it was a Saturday night.
