Food was great. I was a little disappointed in the service. Here’s why: booked table for 4 for a birthday dinner. Last minute changed to 3. Told the hostess who said since we had only 3 she could not give us the table we reserved (a booth) which she said was for 4 people. Fair enough. Totally understand. Where I became disappointed was when she sat THREE people at that booth just moments later (they happen to be white, and we are Asian, but let’s set aside the race card for now and give them the benefit of the doubt). We were already into our meal, and I did not complain, nor did I want to ruin the atmosphere of the birthday dinner we were having. End of the meal… no apologies, no acknowledgment even of our birthday celebration (a little “hey sorry about that, but hope you had a good birthday celebration anyway, here’s a free chocolate, whatever” would have gone a long way). Well the food was great and my company was great. so we had a great time regardless of the irksome hostess move. But as for the service at the restaurant, you guys failed to cease on an opportunity to create a loyal customer.
This is a nice quiet location on Green Street with a lively atmosphere and great service. The food is done to perfection and I was full after eating only half my meal!
Malbec is a great place to go for any occasion. The staff is very nice and friendly, food is delicious, and everything was clean.
Shocked that the food was this bad.
We choose to go with the dine LA menu. Food tasted old. Broccoli was bitter, meat was cold in the center. the fish was over cooked. Then empanadas were also cold in center.
Understand they are short staffed , hope they go back to the quality of food they always have had. :(
The service is excellent
Pricy but worth every penny!
The octopus appetizer was excellent!
The beef melts in your mouth, also delicious. Any piece of beef you order will be delightful.
The service is incredible and the food amazing as always
Close to impeccable service and downright delicious food. Our third or fourth time to Malbec and it’s truly never disappointed, no matter what we’ve had be it appetizers to pasta to grilled meats.
A nice downtown eatery with excellent food- we did Dine LA , loved each dish and had plenty to eat. Only problem was the noise level. You must raise your voice just to talk across a small table for two. People with bigger parties were almost shouting to each other. I would recommend, but this is not the place for a nice quiet or intimate dinner. I recommend with a warning.
The food was excellent. The rack of lamb was just perfectly done. The shrimp with the white fish entree was incredible. Dessert was good as well.
It took a while to be seated - nearly 20 minutes, even with a confirmed reservation. Once seated, our server was very attentive and the food was great. While we frequent Malbec - the DineLA menu is always a great opportunity to try new things, all were fantastic. The sausage polenta appetizer was particularly amazing. We hope it's added to the permanent menu. Lovely evening overall.
Food and service were excellent! Ambiance was underwhelming just because we were outside in the back parking lot, but plenty of space and cute string lights made it nice, and plenty of space heaters to keep it cozy. Will definitely return to try other items from the menu!
The food was very good , but a little pricey for what you get
Great service! Great food!
My wife and I went to Malbec for a weekly date since this restaurant was part of dine LA. We ordered one dinner dine LA meal and a skirt steak and beer. Their dine LA meal was quite salty and heavy with seasoning. Their service was a five star but I don’t think it was worth a $117 meal, excluding tip.
Great meat dishes! The skirt steak is amazing…Highly recommend the bread pudding! One of the best I’ve ever tasted!
Malbec is on the corner of a oneway street and parking is a game, so keep that in mind. Party of 4. Made reservations. Arrived early/on time and still had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes. Hostess seemed clueless.
We were seated in the back. The atmosphere was nice, but the tables and chairs are not the most comfortable as it is a make-shift dining area under a tent.
We ordered appetizers. The empanadas were good. The salad was good. We ordered steaks off the grill on a sizzling platter served family-style. The steaks were good. The sides (which costs extra), not so much. We ordered the Panqueque De Manzana for dessert. It was okay.
Overall, the restaurant was fine. The service was fine. The food was fine (except the sides). Nothing wrong, but nothing spectacular. Would I eat here again? Sure.
OMG this place is delicious:-) the food & wine is fantastic! I will be coming back soon. I found it on my own but will definitely be recommending it to family & friends.
Husband and I had a great date night.
First time to Malbec and my experience was great, the food was delicious and the service was great.
My sister and I dined at Malbec on a Monday evening. The ambience was wonderful. The food was fabulous and the service outstanding! We want to return!
The food is consistently great and professional server, Denis is scary spectacular with his memory, timing and overall knowledge of the cuisine. A+++.
A bit disappointed with the quality of the food. Ordered Provoleta that was a bit burned but eatable. The Entraña (10 oz Skirt steak $32) was ordered medium but served well done. The meat which is supposed to be of high quality, was extremely thin (doubt that could weight 10 oz - more like 5 at the most, was also overcooked.
Grilled vegetables were onced served with the steak but now you must add side orders costing from $8 for French fries that were actually delicious and $11 for the grilled vegetables.
I understand times are hard but overpricing and reducing the quality of what you serve is not going to go unnoticed.
Great place for a great meal. Not great for an intimate conversation; place is pretty loud on a weekend evening.
Food was awesome!
Very pleasant and inviting… missing Argentina.. so this was perfect!
PERFECT, especially the table for two in the front window!!
Beautiful place ,I love the food 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕😊😊
The food was absolutely delicious. I ate octopus for the first and it was fantastic. Our server Ruben was so joyous and kind. We all loved him. Thanks for such a great evening.
Always great waiters and service at Malbec! Food was delicious as well, try the carpaccio!
Awesome service. Nice music in the background
Our first experience and definitely not our last. Try the Spicy Beef Empenadas. Kid's had beef (Skirt steak and Rib Eye) the dipping sauces were a great accompaniment. We had the Mariscos con Arroz and wish we ordered an extra to take home.
Don't forget to try the Crepes!
Great food and lovely atmosphere. Quiet and away from crowded areas. Lovely location on Green Street.
Our waitress was very polite and attentive and food was outstanding, we really enjoyed our first visit and looking forward on coming back soon.
The server was good. The food was good. It was my second visit, and I enjoyed my meal. One thing that prevented me from giving a 5-star rating for atmosphere were the perpetual flies/fruit flies that came by the table. There should never be flies at a place of fine dining. That said, I'd still come back.
The restaurant observes strict COVID-19 protocols, which is why my party and I felt so safe during our lunch there. Everything is clean, tables are spaced far away from each other, and everyone is masked up. Hand sanitizer is available right by the entrance and at least two other stations.
As for the food, we absolutely loved everything we ordered. From the frito mixto to the various steaks to the paella - it was all superb and worth every penny. We all kept having to take bites from each other's plates because everyone's food looked so delectable. The desserts were wonderful too. Their affogato, oh my gosh - the espresso shot mixed with their vanilla ice cream - *chef's kiss.* You have to come to this lovely little restaurant and experience it yourself. Every time I come here, I am always delighted and impressed with all that they offer.
Natalie took great care of us.
Good food, great service. Would most definitely be back.
