It's f-ing closed! And i had the most ridiculous interaction with YOU, OpenTable, about their closing and the fact that they took my cc card info for my reservation. One word - idiots.
Made a reservation through Open Table, but upon arrival they said it would be about 5 minutes to seat us. While we waited we sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender was extremely friendly. Unfortunately I couldn't say the same for the 2 hostesses (1 male/1 female). I finally had to go back up to the front to ask what was taking so long and they asked for my name again and said it would be another 5 minutes. I went back to the bar and literally a minute later the hostess showed up to seat us. We sat outside which was really nice. Our waitress greeted us and she was very friendly and gave us some good food recommendations. We really loved the potatoes and the scallops were AMAZING. We had the salad, stuffed peppers, beef filet, and tres leches for dessert. They were all very good including the drinks we got. Overall I would say this was a great place to dine.
We really enjoyed Malaga. There were lots of great items on the menu to choose from, all of which were quite enjoyable. We were visiting from out of town and had no preconceived notions of what we to expect. The experience was a big hit.
Pre-concert dinner still hadn't arrived an hour after ordering; went without.
Overall fun experience. Loved the brussel sprouts, goat cheese balls with lavendar honey & onion marmalade. Spinach empanadas filling was great, outer crust a little tough but good. Also tried scallops, beef & lamb. All were perfectly done & very tasty. Portions on small side; not unexpected for tapas but a bit pricey.
It was pretty good. Not the best tapas restaurant in town, but pretty good and not too expensive given the area.
I really enjoyed Malaga! Out of all the dishes that we tried, there was only one true clunker that we had to send back (and I never send food back if it's in any way salvageable): the pork belly dish. Everything else was amazing, though, and the waitress and manager were very helpful and apologetic about it, so overall I had a great experience and would definitely eat here again. I'd even try ordering the dish again, because I have faith that it was just an off evening for whatever reason. It's great fun to order several dishes and have a taste of everything - great for a date!
We've been to Malagas a bunch of times in the last 9 years - even for a first date in Austin but they really were so sweet since it was our anniversary. It was honestly the nicest treatment for a special occasion we've had for any restaurant
Great tapas menu!
We enjoyed the Sangria!
Great option for a team meeting / dinner. Takes the pressure off of everyone trying to figure out what to order. We talked with Ray before hand and told him to bring out their favorites with a mix of starters, veggies, meats and to make sure that everyone had enough. Good wine pairings as well.
