We were seated in the banquet room upstairs for Mother's Day dinner. Besides the temperature being either really cold or too hot, the room was quiet, the food was good and the service was good.

Our group ordered four quite different entrees and all were delicious. The pork chop special was tender and steamed vegetables (which can be disappointing) were flavorful and properly cooked. On a busy night the noise level was very high but otherwise a great place. One suggestion: since there are Mexican dishes offered, salsa should be available. Pico de gallo did not quite fit the bill. This was our second visit and we will be back.

I picked up my friend at the airport and she was famished and in need of a cocktail. I remembered Malabar from a previous visit with my son. So we decided to stop in. Food was nice, well cooked. Creative flavors. Bar drinks were okay too.

Certainly not on par with Ella's in downtown, but way better than fast food and Denny's!

We ate dinner here. Was seated right away with reservations. Bacon wrapped meatloaf was good. the burger and NY steak were also good. couldn't believe the size of the kids pizza. could feed 3 kids. Reasonably priced. the service was great. very friendly waitress and food arrived in a timely manner

This is a good spot. They have a nice atmosphere and a good menu. The bar scene is cracken and the happy hour menu is good too. I like the selection a liquor and wine they have. Comfortable to go on a business lunch or dinner, as well as a date night.

We went there on a Sunday night for the first time. We decided to try it since they have "Kids Eat Free". The decor was nice. The food was mediocre at best, but way overpriced. The biggest surprise was the kids mac and cheese, which was the Kraft kind on a plate. Why should I pay $6-7 for something I can cook at home from a box? We ended up with a lot of leftovers that no one wanted to take home....

I had not gone to Makabar for quite a while (over a year since my last visit). I had mentioned to my dining companions that I had a great steak sandwich at Malabar the last time I had dined there. Two of us had the steak sandwich and were disappointed. It was not bad,but just a very plain sandwich. One co-worker had the steak salad. He said it was good. I think the other diner had a Reuben sandwich and found it to be ok. Our server was attentive and kept our water glasses filled.

Aarde reservations here for Saturday night out with friends. When I got there the waitress made a mistake the will not honor request to fix it, I ordered a steak which was served cold it took forever to get. Bar drinks that we ordered took 20 minutes to get.

The food was great, however the seating was tight for my party of six across from the bar.

With folk squeezing by with drinks and bar stools it was evident that a drink was bound to spill on one of my guests. Of which it did and the constant bumping against made for unpleasant place to really eat comfortably.

Had a dinner meeting with 8 coworkers. Food was very good, service was excellent and price was quite reasonable. I visit every time I'm in Sac.

Always great food. Service is usually pretty good. Shasta was our server and did a good job. It's our favorite restaurant close to the airport.

Fantastic service and delicious ribeye (highly recommend)! Valentine's Day was made very quaint with this restaurant, but not quite the prestige that I thought that it would be. Perhaps I am biased to the gems in Sacramento, but this is an outstanding and more local alternative. Also, very accommodating to my S.O.'s handicap and gave us the perfect table that he needed. Thank you Malabar!

The food was pretty tasty, but nothing to brag about. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Linguine, it was very tasty. However; everything on the menu was a little pricey. The ambience was appealing downstairs, but they seated us upstairs in a small banquet room. Not much ambience for a date.

Went to Malabar on Valentines Day. Server was nice, but slow. Food was ok, but bland. Drinks were expensive and watered down. Overall, mediocre at high prices.

Had an excellent visit here. The staff was great. Diana was a great waitress and was very social. Food was excellent. I had this risotto with mussels. Good beer selection, too! Definitely worth the visit, especially if you're seeing a Kings game or flying out nearby the next morning.

The service was fantastic. This is not my first time there and I have had exceptional service the last 2 times there. The pomegranate lemon martinis are the best... Costly though... Everyones food was great. NO complants

This is our 3rd time here and I wasn't too happy with the noise level. Maybe because it was a Friday night. The food was good not great and the service was ok. Probably won't go back on a Friday night again.

I don't live far and I'm not sure why don't go here more often. Great service, good food- and they even have an extensive gluten free menu.

I wanted to enjoy this place but my brunch left a lot to desire because of poor servise. The server came to the table with I would rather be somewhere else look. We asked for water and ordered drinks. Some time later our drinks arrived but no water. This server seemed to dissappear for long periods. We finally flagged down the hostess to bring us water.

As for the food,I was impressed. My wife asked for eggs to be sunny side up. Again our server was clueless she said eggs needed to be over easy, when I questioned this she said the the order machine does not have a sunny side button,WHAT?
When the food came is was prepared perfectly and was very tasty.

I would give this place another try,but if this server showed up again I would wave the white flag an asked to speak to the manager.

Short and not so sweet... Food was terrible. Really loud. Halfway through our meal they dimmed the lights so low our server asked if it seemed weird to be so dark. It was. Won't be back.

Perfect for a drinks before a game/concert, calamari is amazing and the sauce is wonderful, pomegranate martini was yummy, great bar scene, if you are planning on eating dinner I would highly recommend making reservations gets busy. Party of four one got the crab cakes sliders, meatloaf wrapped in bacon, cheese burger sliders, and jambalaya, we all loved out food and would all go again! Hope you enjoy👍

The BBQ salmon was fantastic and bursting with wonderful flavor! What made it even tastier was the Chile polenta cake that accompanied it. The serving size would easily feed two people if you are so inclined. We stopped by for a quick lunch on our way to the airport - it was fast, convenient, and the services team was extremely friendly and professional.
