I brought a team of coworkers from out of town to Malabar. It was also my first time. The drinks and service were stellar! We really enjoyed the food as well.
I had a reservation for 10 and the table was so small we could barely move. Additionally, the table was located under an open stairway where customers foot track was right above our food. I requested another table but was told we couldn't be accommodated. The food was good but I will not return due to the poor accommodations.
Great Food, Great Service! First time there and we’ll definitely go back and we recommend Malabar to everyone.
We went on the Amazon Fulfillment Center tour and wanted to eat beforehand with our friends. I picked Malabar not knowing anything about it. Our friends were so pleased with our pick. Everyone loved their food and we all had something different. There isn’t anything but positive about this restaurant!!
Very nice Valentine dinner date! Waiter was cordial and the booth was great. How Cab very good and the Salmon was excellent. My steak was just so/so.
Unexpected Fabulous Food! Recently been to overpriced restaurants leaving me with unmet expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by Malabar serving appropriate portions that tasted amazing. The service was perfect. Very attentive and sincere.
It was our first visit and many more to come. It made ours perfect Valentine lunch date
Visited Malabar for my friends birthday. Malabar is or favorite restaurant for the both of us. We had the BBQ Salmon and it was very very good. The dinner was wonderful and we had a good time laughing and talking and enjoying our meal. We will definitely be back
We had difficult orders, special requests, our server was awesome. Just took care of us with kindness & professionalism. Great evening
We had a good experience and they even gave us a free desert (it was anniversary of day we got engaged). The waitress was on top of things and the manager stopped by to say hello. We didn't know they serve Brunch Only, and before going, I had looked at the menu and decided what I wanted to order (but it wasn't available) but the waitress made suggestions and it all worked out.
Our only complaint is at that dogs were allowed into the restaurant, the hostess said that it was a service dog, but who carries their service dog in a pretty blanket. I know the service dog laws and there are only two types of animals allowed in a place where food is.
Enjoyed a Birthday lunch with my kids and grandchildren. We all enjoyed our lunches and as they were not too busy, we were able to linger a bit and catch up on school life with the boys and life in general. Always my go to place for a great meal.
Food was subpar at best. Reminded me of old fashioned casino "coffee shop" food.
I found Malabar through Google when looking for local restaurants that serve brunch. As a new Sacramento resident, I was happy to find Malabar that is located within a few miles of where I live!
Malabar is a great little gem that doesn't look like much from the outside but on the inside, looks warm and cozy with dark walls and dark furniture. I remember there being a bar and a partially open kitchen. There are also a lot of televisions located throughout the restaurants. The 49er game happened to be on when we were there.
Overall, the service was great. I've read many reviews that described Malarbar having slow service. This was not the case when we visited. Our server was attentive, answered our questions, and let my partner and I spend time with our out of town family before taking them to the airport. The food is traditional American comfort food. The food was good and it was definitely filling! What I loved was the mimosas! I had the brunch champagne with my meal and for $10 for 5 glasses, how can you go wrong!!?
My partner and I will be back to try out the weekend happy hour!
The server Danielle was lovely and attentive. We got our food quickly after ordering. The unfortunate thing was my husband's pancakes were burnt on the bottoms and the eggs was not quite scrambled with a slight runniness. But overall we enjoyed the experience as the food was good; it could have been great though. Hopefully we can try new dish that's more appealing entirely next time
Ive had dinner, lunch and breakfast at Malabar. Food is consistently good. Chef is always willing to accommodate any dietary request ( my experience). Love the cozy atmosphere.
Always my go to place for Brunch, lunch or dinner!
The filet with prawns was great. Best steak that I have had in some time. Misty, the server was fantastic! Very attentive and took great care of us. We will be back again.
Other than the noise - rather room noise -we were checked on by 3 people at least 6 times while we ate there A little too much - We were only there under an hour too many checks as to how the meal was.
Service very slowly
Food was cold and sent it back. Service was slow
Malabar has consistently great food. It's a little noisy at times around 5PM, as there is a large bar area.
It’s too loud. They should have some sound absorbers throughout the restaurant. I can barely hear my guest from across the table. The food was fine. Nothing special. Happy hour drinks were Only at the bar which most places that I’ve been has the specials throughout the restaurant. Service was greAt but That’s my least concern for a restaurant experience. First time there and last. No reason to go back
Several hotels are clustered around a bunch of mostly fast food restaurants that are within walking distance. Malabar is the only one that serves a somewhat upscale and varied menu. Attentive staff and very good food. If we lived in the area we would definitely return.
Food was ok; but definitely not as good as it used to be. The restaurant seems to cater more to the happy hour crowd.
Always love eating here. Great food & service.
I have lived in Natomas for 12 years and this was my first time at Malabar. My mom ordered the salmon and it was prepared perfectly! Our server John was great, very personable and accommodating. I'm glad that I finally decided to have dinner there and I will also be taking advantage of Happy Hour in the very near future!!
Waiter was a crack up. Happy hour is really good
Service was excellent! Food and drink very good. Would like to have been able to have our larger party back in the more open area to be able to mingle with each other a bit more but it did not take away from an overall very enjoyable evening.
Had a pleasant experience here for dinner. Nice ambiance for this American grill based restaurant. Service was great and the food was very good. Portions we're very generous.
This was my first time and it for a BDay celebration! The service and food were excellent!!!!
Food and the service were good. Our waitress was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I had the fish and chips and they were crisp and good. Portion are large but the price is reasonable. Only issue was the noise level. We sat in the back and it was loud. We had to speak loud to be heard.
Terrible service; it was very disappointing. The menu has changed a little; and the quality of the food was not as good as it used to be. Really too bad; at one time it "was" a pretty good neighborhood restaurant.
Good drinks, food not too good.....had the ribeye, not a good piece of meat.
Admittedly, my needs were rather simple. I came in sat at the bar. I had a martini and a wonderful Barbecued Salmon Salad Nicoise. The service was spot on and I got to watch the Giants game! What could be better?
Family get together. Food was good except for vegan meals. Bread on sandwiches was very soggy. Table behind us was very loud. Filet mignon was excellent as well as rib eye and chicken tenders.
Wedding Anniversary.
We had a wonderful Early Fathers Day Lunch.Thank You.
Henry.
Great restaurant. W dry thing was amazing!!! Try the poblano burger
Why is it REQUIRED that I write something?
My server/bartender at the bar was excellent, friendly, had great suggestions, and made sure I had some to drink that I would enjoy. The food was ..ok
The Manager and the person who seated us was just fine. Employees not trained well. Food was delivered to our table we did not order, one of the plates was completely wrong, the child’s hamburger was undercooked and had to send it back. All the while our waitress obviously did not have customer service skills or experience. We waited way too long for everything even though it was not crowded. We waited very long for the check and then for processing the bill. It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The food was also mediocre at best. I will say that the manager, Paul, was helpful in compensation and professional. He was the positive element of the experience. I will never go back.
