Makoto Ratings and Reviews
Dinner for 2 was thoroughly enjoyable. The reservation was respected, the service was friendly, attentive and professional and ultimately, the food was excellent. The one drawback was that the food came out so quickly that dinner was over too quickly. The pace could have been a little slower. As
tourists, Makota is on the list at each visit. Thank you!
A beautiful South Florida day at a lovely location. The crab salad was excellent but service was only fair. Not too busy, we had to ask for a server about ten minutes after being seated. And, service remained pretty mediocre during our lunch. Servers seems busier socializing with each other than attending to guests. This once outstanding restaurant has slipped over time.
A little bit of confusion seating us, slight bit of arrogance between the maître but the manager had it covered, hence the loss of a star rating. Server was excellent food just as good. So other than the maître being unhelpful (and more from being busy and a little disorganised rather than flat out rudeness), it’s 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
awful hostess! I booked a table week ago for a late lunch for 6 people outside , when we came they said wait for the table an hour, I come here for 4 years, they never give out regular customers, very slow personal! the food is delicious, but not super, that in a big mole, when doing shopping you can go to them..
Makoto has deteriorated in the past year or so. It remains good but not the previous great! The chicken salad has less chicken and other interesting ingredients and much more greens. They were out of crab meat when we were there and service was slow. Though we booked reservations weeks ahead and requested outdoor seating, we were told that only indoor seating was available.
Last but not least - to say that the ladies room was seriously lacking attention is being kind. We left and went elsewhere!
I hope management will give this restaurant the attention it deserves. For now, we are taking a sabbatical and going elsewhere.
I have been in Makoto several times and the food is outstanding. I feel the chef changed or the dishes changed slightly but it did not affect the quality of food. The only item I would never order again is Tuna Tartare. It came with no chips, plain dip but there was nothing to dip it in. Usually tartare comes with fish cubes and that's what I was expecting. Not worth 29$. Otherwise the food and desert was amazing. The service was good as well. All restaurant staff were very attentive. I will definitely be back
One of my favorite spots at the Bal Harbour Mall. Gets quite noisy inside at dinner time with loud music overpowering even face to face conversations, so if you want to enjoy the ambiance, get at ouside table. The service is very good and attentive, and the food is excellent.
