Makoto does not disappoint. The Spicy Tuna Rice appetizer, chicken dumplings, and Miso Sea Bass were spectacular. You cannot get these dishes anywhere else with this degree of flavor and execution. The portions are small so do not be afraid to order plenty of food. The service was also very good.

They confuse our reservation, we made it for 9:00 pm and they had it for 7:00 pm, so they were not happy with that. I show them the original reservation, And finally we had a table.

This restaurant is always on point with its food and service! The fish is always super fresh. My favorite is the spicy tuna on crispy rice, salmon carpaccio appetizer, and the wagyu fried rice. Its one of my favorite sushi spots in Miami!

Makoto is a great place. We were in Bal Harbor for several days and ended up eating their twice. Food is creative, fun and well presented. Highly recommend. If you get the grilled avocado, make you you get it with the truffle. We had it both ways and the truffle put it over the top.

Sashimi is as fresh as it can be so I definitely recommend getting the large sashimi plate.
Rolls are larger than other sushi restaurants and they taste amazing!
If it’s (good) sushi you’re looking for, you found your place.

We made a reservation at 7pm. We were seated immediately at a nice table centrally located in the restaurant. The server and staff was outstanding. It is tapas style. We had a little of everything including the Wagyu beef that you cook on a stone. We were impressed with everything except the desserts. They desserts were average but everything else was excellent. Will definitely return.

The experience at Makoto was great like always but it was disappointing to book through open table. We were sent a 10$ value gift card and it also showed that on your reservation but when we finished eating and showed the gift card to makoto at the time of paying the bill, makoto said they do not accept open table rewards or gift cards and we will need to take it up with open table.
So makoto was great! Open table sucked and booking though it was a disaster!

Always enjoy the food at Makoto, the tabs do add up, never cheap. But the food is very good and it's fun sharing lots of small plates. My main complaint is that the cocktails don't have enough alcohol and they are not cheap. I've complained about this many times, even returned drinks for remake.

They are not paying attention to the quality of the food. I felt seek after ordering the bento box.

Looks like the food is precook way in advance.

Not happy this time.

Very disappointed in our lunch! We went specifically for Miami Spice and it was not a good experience! We went last year and it was fantastic. This year, not so much. The appetizer was great but the rest of our meal just wasn't very good. And to top it off, the service was SO SO slow. 2 people for lunch = 1 1/2 hours. we were the ONLY ones there when we got there and it took that long. We will not be going back.
