Mako's American Grille Ratings and Reviews
This is our second time and the bottom line is that the food is very goo, flavorful and not too too much. It;s a small place so both crowded and noisy but not enough to warrant missing the place. The staff is very accommodating.
I had the crab soup and the arrabiata rosa, my wife had the spinach salad and the crab cakes. Everything was very good.
Parking is a challenge so leave early.
Fabulous as always!! They never disappoint. This is the third Summer in a row that a group of that graduated together has met there for dinner. There is always 12-15 of us. Never a problem for Mako's! Food is always hot and very delicious. Giving them an A+
I'd like to give Mako's another try. With all the 5 star ratings I was expecting a great experience. It was marginal at best. There were 4 people in our party and the overall rating was 50/50.
One of our party had a gluten allergy and they took great care to announce it in advance. Even with the care of identifying the allergy the waitress presented a salad that contained croutons. The noise inside was at such a level we were unable to have reasonable conversation at our table. There was a group from a sorority that was screaming to such a level that it was impossible to talk at our table. The staff made no effort to control the noise. Overall I'm open to try it again but not impressed with this recent visit.
Looking for a dinner with a inspired recipes and quality ingredients? In Sea Isle City, the choices seem to be few... alas, this is NOT Rehoboth Beach. Mako's American Grille comes very close but just does not get there. I would definitely recommend for a decent night out but the style and food prep is more ordinary than memorable.
A reminder....this is a BYBO Restaurant like most places in Sea Isle City.
If you sit outside get a table in the front of the restaurant. The ones on the side are near the A/C unit, just a little noisy.
We were seated upon arrival even with a full house. Always very appreciative when that happen.
Nick was our server. He provided the best service of any restaurant we had in Sea Isle this past week. Great Job!!! Thank you!
We started off with the Mako Bites as an app. A very nice cajan blackened mako bites with cucumber sauce, excellent.
For our entree, we order the blackened mako and glazed salmon. Both entree cooked to perfection. The mako had just the correct amount of spice so a not to over power the fish. The Honey Glazed Salmon was also excellent.
We will return again.
Love this place. Great food and terrific service. We have gluten free needs and the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. Many gluten free options that are spectacular. Crab bisque is unbelievable and shrimp Gorgonzola is out of this world, they can modify and make it gluten free. Highly recommend
Not a place to bring kids but luckily my three year old we well behaved and the staff was really sweet. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend for a date or group dinning. A little warm and the seating was a little uncomfortable but the food made up for the lack of.
Restaurant Week in Sea Isle City. 4 course meal for $34. What a great deal and a great meal! The bisque was the best we ever had. Appetizers were fresh and delicious. The crab cake, again, one of the best we ever had. The salmon dish was full of delicious and fresh flavors. Then, the desert! We frequent Mako's all summer. This was the best meal yet! Can't wait til next time.
There were three of us and across the board we rated our experience as okay at best. We ordered mussels in red sauce as a starter. The sauce was watery and of the 24 mussels 7 were not opened. Not the best way to start a meal. They took 1/2 off but we had to ask.
My entree was the Mako special with crab meat but there was very little crab meat. The fish was cooked nicely but aside from the sauce was very bland. Another member of the party ordered the crab cakes and they were well prepared but were also a bit bland.
Might be better option for lunch as they seem to have some nice salads.
This was our second time having dinner at Mako's. it didn't disappoint! Six of us. Appetizers (mako bites, crab bruschetta, salads). Loved the crab, shrimp and pasta. Full of crab and you can order it mild or hot. Grouper special was amazing. Tuna so fresh and cooked perfectly. We shared a few desserts. BYO. Friendly and professional service. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
