Mako's American Grille
Food was not good
Air was not working and room was very stuffy- night was to brisk to eat outside. Vegetables were tasteless and water logged. Tuna portion was very small and lacked flavor. Wait staff was very good.
Food was delicious, service was great. We were initially set up to eat at a table that had a lot of sun through the window. Since it was an early reservation, they were easily able to move our spot. It was a little warm in there, and it is smaller than I had imagined from photos, but great food. Bathroom was clean as well.
Very intimate dining room , always with excellent food. Our waitress, who usually does breakfast, was excellent, attentive and did a great job taking care of four of us.
Highly recommend the Ginger Ahi and the Teriyaki Ahi!
Both cooked to perfection and very tasty.
Love the creative items on the menu-far from typical! A BYOB which is great too. Saturday night at the Shore in August gets very busy. Parking difficult, staff very busy and attentive. Have been before and will be back next Shore trip! 😎
Great food and service
The food was very good, but from the time we ordered, it was over an hour before we got our food. Also, our server didn't have answers to most of our questions. I would recommend it for the food if you have a long time to wait.
Love this local BYOB! The ingredients and menu selections are always fresh and seasonal. The specials are creative and delicious. They know how to make fish! The servers make you feel at home and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We went on early side and it was quiet. Have been there before at a later hour and the noise level was moderate and the restaurant was quite busy. Definitely recommend!
Super salad. Nice ahi tuna properly prepared. Chef very knowledgeable.
Great food, nice attentive waitress
Salad was fresh. I had salmon topped with crab, over asparagus. The salmon & crab were fresh and tasted great! There were only 2 very skinny pieces of asparagus, though. Overall excellent food at a good price. Being a byob is a big plus!
The kitchen was slow getting the food out. Our meals did not come out together.
Pleasant staff & small but adequate interior. Nothing was technically "wrong" but the food was just ok, and no real reason to return within Sea Isle vs. the other options. Got Mako Bites - tasty but very over-seasoned with blackening spice / salt. I ordered the seared tuna which was nice, veggies were fine, but seaweed salad was horrifically "fishy" tasting; have never had a seafood salad taste that like that previously. Wife ordered their special chicken dish - the piece of chicken was massive and texture was so-so. Again, it was fine, just would not return or recommend.
Great food. Especially enjoyed the tilapia and mako shark dishes. Fantastic cream of crab - loaded with crab meat. Service was excellent.
Always a fantastic meal and friendly service , breakfast omelettes are amazing and fish tacos are the best
This is the first time we were not wowed by the food. My husband had the special Mako and he was not thrilled
The desert was not good, they ended up not charging for it.
Absolutely wonderful place. Staff is fantastic and food is superb!!!!
Food was amazing , can't wait to go back and try breakfast
Excellent food and service! So many great menu selections made it hard to choose, but the crab soup was delicious, and the mako and salmon entrees were terrific. Cannoli dessert topped it off.
We are very happy to have this year-round BYOB within a short driving distance and will definitely return before the summer crowd begins.
Food is amazing, love this place. Have gone many many times and never been disappointed
Great service and food was excellent
I made a reservation for Mako's on OpenTable for 1/28/18 at 7 pm for my wife and I. I have the confirmation but when we arrived the restaurant was closed. Confirmation #2109757130. We enjoy eating at Mako's so this was a bummer. Found out it was a glitch with OpenTable not Mako’s. We dined again on 2/17/18 and it was great.
2 nd time here . 1 st was in busy summer so not great too busy-- but tried again and had a Groupon! Very good!! Def be back!
Dads 84 bday and they were great. Shout out for our server Michele !!
Always a very good meal, friendly staff, great special offerings!
Service was super excellent. Our server was pleasant, timely and smiled easily. She gave excellent advice as to the menu.
The food was very good. I ordered the Blackened Mako. The combination of the blackened fish, apples, onions and chutney was designed excellent. All of it together enhanced the experience. My wife ordered the crab stuffed tilapia. Again, far better than expected.
My only knock on the place is that the portion size was small for the price.
FYI: like lots of Jersey restaurants, its BYOB.
This is a great restaurant with a lot of gluten free options that are delicious.
The service is always great and the chef is very accomodating. It is also a great spot for breakfast.
Makos never disappoints! We had a glitch in that open table took a reservation for us on a Thursday nite when Makos was closed. We were so upset as we drove 2+ hours to get there and it was closed. Silver lining was that we were able to dine for lunch Friday and the food was amazing as usual. The manager was understanding and apologized for the glitch. Highly recommend the pasta with crab and shrimp in pink sauce. Worth traveling for!
Also don't miss the crab bisque which we have had many times and is outstanding.
Mako's was closed at the time of my reservation. The place was locked up tight. Not sure why "Open Table" took my reservation! I'll give them another try in the future, but will call them directly for a reservation.
Good food; great service. Pleasant atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
Our meals were delicious, service excellent! We ordered from the special Girl's Weekend choices, which was everything on the menu, not something you usually are offered! My husband even got the special price!! Mako's is a great restaurant in Sea Isle, one of our favorites!
Food was very good. Will definitely go back. Nice menu choices.
Outstanding crab soup and Mako Special. Friendly staff and outstanding service! We will most definitely be returning!
Excellent food choices, especially if you are gluten free. I had the Ahi tuna with orange ginger sauce and it was cooked to perfection, rare. I have Celiacs and was so excited that I could select my dinner from the regular menu, even the soups were gluten free. Mango habanero Makos was delicious, per my husband. This was our second visit, and not our last!
place is cozy, staff is attentive, food was delicious, we will definetly come back often
Three of our entrées were in a cheese sauce, but all three were more like cheese soup.
We made reservations for 6:30 and were seated immediately. The table only fit two people and barely gave us enough room for the food we ordered. We were handed our menus by a very nice waitress and were quickly served water, bread with dipping sauces, along with glasses for our BYOB drinks. Minutes later we were asked if we were ready to order. We said no as we wanted to enjoy our drinks and the bread/dipping sauce, and relax while reading the menu. Several times in short succession we were again asked if we wanted to order. We finally gave in on the 4th request.
While we waited for our meal, a large group (10 people) was seated next to us (this is a pretty small restaurant). Then a large group was seated behind us. As we patiently waited for our food, and while the wine was being consumed in quantity beside and behind us, the two groups started talking very loudly to the point were my husband and I, at our wee table, could not carry on a conversation and be heard. Our meal then finally arrived, but our evening was ruined.
I opted for their special Columbus Day all inclusive menu for $39. My husband ordered spaghetti with shrimp in a Gorgonzola sauce. It was very good and my husband loved it. My first course was a salad which was small but tasty...arugula with sliced pear and dressing. My appetizer choice was ahi tuna with a habanara sauce. 5 tiny squares of tuna (postage stamp size) that were tasteless and not very appetizing. My main dish was salmon with asparagus and baby potatoes. The salmon was very good and I enjoy what I received. The final dish was pumpkin brûlée with a wonderful brown sugar crust. It was delicious. However, the dish that it arrived in was barely 3” around. I barely got a taste of my dessert. So disappointed!!
We paid our bill and left. We are glad we tried Mako’s but probably will not return. So many other restaurants to try at the Jersey shore.
We absolutely loved our meal and our waitress, we sat outside and soaked up the sun while enjoying the Make Bites, Crabcakes and another Mako entree - delicious! Oh and the pumpkin creme brulee was to die for!
We had outstanding service and the royal treatment at an early dinner celebrating our 40th anniversary with another couple.
Food was wonderful, as usual.
Mako's Grille never disappoints - Never. It is inviting from the first step in the door. The food is creative, well prepared and delightful bite after bite. On this trip, my wife had the Honey Glazed Salmon and I had the Mako Provençal. Please don't feel that Mako's is just a seafood place. No, no. Their menu is well balanced with meat dishes of the same fine, creative quality. Reminder - make reservations no matter what the seasons to assure your spot and BYOB.
