Majorca is a restaurant serving Spanish-style food, particularly tapas. The restaurant is dimly lit to set the mood, with plenty of dark wood accents decorating the dining room. There are plenty of large tables to accommodate large groups, which is the best way to experience Majorca's menu.
Tapas are small plates that are meant to be shared amongst the entire table. Diners should each get a couple of the signature items and let everyone sample. Popular items on the Majorca menu include the chipirones plancha, which is grilled squid with jalapeno, cucumber, radish, lime, garlic and olive oil as well as the datiles rellenoes which are dates stuffed with almonds and chevre then wrapped in bacon. Majorca also has a large bar menu with several creative cocktails to pair with the unique food.
I was a bit disappointed in eggplant. It was soggy, not crisp as before.
whether it's just for tapas, or a full blown meal Majorca never fails to deliver a satisfactory experience.
This place used to be excellent , maybe they were having a bad night but the food was nowhere near as good as it has been in the past. The service was friendly and our server was excellent but the kitchen made a mistake delivering our salad and our dinner at the same time.
Stopped in around 5pm pre-movie for some cocktails/tapas. No one else was there. Staff were attentive, but it was said as we were heading out around 6:30 that only 4 or 5 tables were being used. Their tapas happy hour specials were nice & they make a decent cocktail, but the atmosphere was pretty quiet to be honest.
Majorca is a relatively new restaurant serving mediterranean fare- but in particular tapas.
The food is very good, the service is earnest but needs some work.
It's great fun to be able to sample several different dishes and share with the entire table. though I'd suggest to the restaurant that serving some dishes that are clearly "portioned" such as albondigas as 3 pieces makes it awkward to share for the typical table of 2 or 4 people.
We were so pleased with our dining experience at Majorca! The tapas were amazing and the drinks divine! Not only was the dining fabulous but the service was impeccable and the building has been beautifully preserved and tastefully decorated. It was such a pleasant experience! We can't wait to return.
Great tapas menu with items large enough to share.
Interesting dishes, well-prepared and reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful service. Very welcome addition to Hartford scene.
Majorca specializes in small plates – a little larger, in our experience, than Spanish tapas (e,g, three medium meatballs not two). Two of us were happily filled up with five orders, which with one sangria came to exactly $50. The main courses, which we didn't try, looked and smelled quite good; we'll likely order the short ribs (eaten with gusto at the table next to us) next time.
Great tapas, nice atmosphere, easy on and off freeway. Took family prior to night out and it was perfect. Will gladly return with family or wife alone prior to show in Hartford or any occasion.
Tapas ingredients sounded good on the menu, but were lacking in flavor and spice. Many plates were bland and/or the flavors didn't blend well together. Service was good, but couldn't make up for the boring dishes.
great ambiance; perfect to pop in for a snack or meal - love the tapas. Wine selection needs improvement but all in all a great addition
Enjoyed the tapas- small plates were just right for the two of us to try a variety of dishes. Quite a few vegetarian choices. Good presentation and liked the service. We did not feel rushed. Good place- will definitely go again.
Love, love, love this place! The food is fantastic and the wait staff definitely know the menu well. Our waiter was attentive and made some fantastic food suggestions to fit my tastes. Also, considering this is a tapas restaurant, the portions are really decent for the price. The only drawback was the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived; this could be a pro or con depending on the type of atmosphere you're looking for. Empty is fine by me because the food and service speak for themselves! I highly recommend this tasty place. You will not be disappointed!
We always enjoy our experiences at Majorca. The tapas plates are very distinct in their taste and variety and we love sharing a whole table full of them with our friends.
Had dinner for the first time. Food was delicious. Staff was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
A pleasant and inviting restaurant.
Love how the restaurant and bar is decorated.
We will be back again. And we WILL spread the word.
It was our first visit to Majorca. Our server was very attentive and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Excellent food. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Great atmosphere. Would definitely come back for dinner in the near future.
My husband I and I decided to try Majorca for Restaurant Week in Hartford. While the prix fixe menu sounded wonderful in and of itself, we glanced at the regular menu and decided that there were a number of tapas that we wanted to try--so we did. And we were both extremely happy as a result. Everything was absolutely delicious (especially the papas fritas!) and we agreed that we NEED to return very soon to try more! We both highly recommend this place to everyone!
I heard about Majorca, which opened in Parkville last winter (2015), from a coworker who knows that my wife and I like great food and have adventurous tastes. We also go into Hartford a lot and like eating at restaurants in the city. The food at Majorca is outstanding, imaginative and delicious small plates that actually are quite substantial (we haven't been tempted yet to try the big plates because the variety of small plates has just been too alluring). Everything we've sampled has been wonderful, and the drinks are fantastic as well, but it will be impossible not to begin our meals at Majorca without ordering the Pan Catalan or the Datiles Rellenos. We are definitely looking forward to sampling other small plates, too. We've only been at Majorca for late dinners so far, so the restaurant has not been very crowded and the service has been excellent. The ambiance is great, too, and the patio seems to draw a nice crowd. Here's hoping this restaurant builds a loyal base because we will definitely make it a regular stop whenever we're in the neighborhood.
Tried this restaurant for the first time as the menu looked great on line. We wanted to try the octopus but we found ound it was unavailable . We tried other tapas and the food was very good! We enjoyed the mussells and chorizo.
Top notch establishment. Everything was beyond expectations...and the Caldoso Andaluz was super DELICIOSO !!!! Can't wait to return.
Disappointed w food and service.
We had Tapas which were all very good. Service was a bit slow but food was excellent.
Excellent food, service and ambience
Very impressed with this restaurant.
Small plates (tapas) were creative and beautifully presented. Full of big flavors
Loved it. Great food and great location. Excellent date spot.
Of our group, two ordered meals which were great however the rest ordered Tapas which were just ok. The Mussels had very little broth and no flavor other than the taste of the mussels. We also ordered a special crab tapas that was simply put bland, it didn't even taste of crab at all. The Tapas that were not to our liking were quickly replaced and taken off our bill. The service was top notch, our server was very attentive and helpful with any questions we had. The cocktails were amazing. We probably won't be returning unless just to order actual dinners.
Our group of 4 had a poor experience here, sadly. The former O'Porto was much better. Service was not good here. The appetizers were fantastic. The entrees were mixed: 2 cold served steaks and decent short rib and chicken dishes. They did correctly take the steaks off the bill without us prompting, so I give them credit for that. But I expect more quality and better service for the cost.
We ate at about 4:30 on a Saturday and sat outside on the best day of the year so far. Zoe was our waitress and was very helpful and cheerful. She said the restaurant opened in January 2015. We had the cheese plate, charcuterie plate, pork short ribs, and port meatballs. They were all very good and the pork short ribs were excellent. I had a caramelized pineapple dessert that was wonderful. The only negatives were that they were out of their empenadas and I had a little trouble finding a place to park.
Overall: good experience, but not great. We went w/tapas so no comments on main entrees. They were mixed in quality, generally small. Tapas are nice for sharing, but we would have wished the server had offered more guidance in selection. Bread does not come to the table so if you are hungry and feeling your way (as we were), you can be waiting longer than you'd like for next set and/or still hungry.
I'd recommend they offer more guidance when customers order tapas and either offer a bread accompaniment or guide diners to some starches.
In an area with numerous dining options, this didn't make the grade. Waitress was great but tables felt sticky, tapas were nothing special and the atmosphere wasn't special.
All of the tapas we tried were very good. The only critism is the portions come in " threes," so when it comes to sharing with one or two others, you are forced to place two orders of the same dish.
Wine selection could be expanded.
We stuck with the tapas to try a variety of menu items and I'm glad we did. Flavorful, interesting combinations, attentive wait staff. A great experience and I"m really looking forward to coming back.
LOVE THE FOOD AND THE MARTINI DRINK WITH THE FLOWER, SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO GO OUT WITH CLOSE FRIENDS AND IN MY CASE WITH MY HUSBAND! i THE RESERVATION WITH OPEN TABLE AND WORK ,PERFECT!
Many small plates to share and opportunities for magnificent tastes throughout the evening!
Very high quality ingredients, prepared expertly. Portions are a bit small (duh, tapas) but each dish that we ordered was perfectly seasoned and very tasty. It's on the pricey side, but the value is there.
I had a birthday dinner planned at Majorca and had learned that they just started jazz on Sundays. I had planned on going to jazz downtown so I cancelled my plans and went all in at Majorca. Much to my chagrin the reservations that I had did not cover the room that had the live jazz. That room was offering family style eating to share tables. This was not an issue except that there was only one chair left and we were not allowed to take chairs from the other part of the restaurant. We went back to the other side and then could not hear the jazz. The menu was good, I read the reviews and ordered the calamari and the dates and meatballs and then the seafood entree which were all good but not outstanding. The ribs were flavorful but rather fatty. All in all a ok visit. Hoping they can iron out the jazz issues. We suggested that they find a way to pipe in the music to the other room but were told that it would not work. Disappointing
I have eaten here three times since it opened, and I have not been disappointed yet. Some of my favorites: bacon wrapped dates, cheese plate, meat plate, rice croquettes stuffed with chorizo and saffron, and Spanish olives.
However, it is my most recent experience this weekend prompted me to write a review. It was a busy Saturday night and our second round of tapas took a little longer to come out than they probably should have, but our server handled the situation perfectly: she offered us a free round of drinks and dessert. I can't recommend Majorca enough, and I'll certainly be back! It's a great addition to the Hartford area.
It was a Saturday night. Place was packet and service should have been prepared to that. It wasn't. Foof was average.
