Majid's St. Matthews - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Me and my boyfriend came here for our 1 year anniversary. When we walked into Majids we were greeted by the owner, who was so welcoming and sweet and he seated us in a very nice booth in the piano lounge area. Our server was not as nice to say the least but the ambiance and food made up for that. We got the Shrimp scampi, Sabzi salad, and cheese plate as our small plates. All of which was out of this world. The cheese plate is such a good value too. For our entrees I got the quail and my boyfriend the Alfredo with shrimp. The quail was beautifully seasoned and I ate every last bit of it. It's rare to find quail and it's usually never as good as it is here. The Alfredo shrimp was excellent too. My boyfriend as very pleased with it, and he is a picky eater. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night. The jazz singer and piano was a lovely touch. I would definitely come back here if we didn't have to go back home to Michigan.
My friends from Canada and I were there for dinner in the bar area and returned 3 days later. Food and drink were fabulous; servers were attentive; music was soft and pleasant and we didn't have to talk over it. I would highly recommend it for a delicious meal with music and low noise level.
Everything about this place was OK. The service was OK, and the food was OK. The two best things about this place was the live music and the bread with the Alfredo sauce. I probably wouldn't come back to eat here unless I was in the mood for some good bread and Alfredo sauce.
I was going in this evening because their shrimp and grits dish is listed as one of the top ten shrimp and grit dishes in Louisville, however to my disappointment they no longer have the shrimp and grits dish,,,,,dam. How can you have one of the top ten dishes in the city and then not have it anymore ... Very disappointed
Excellent food, quiet, quaint dining experience. Service was wonderful, and dinner was very enjoyable. Food is a bit pricy but not ridiculous but great for anyone who has money or anyone who wants a gem for a special occasion. Would absolutely recommend Majid's St. Matthews to a friend.
We will certainly be back. The waitress was attentive and the food was awesome!! We had several of the small plates for appetizers and they were all good! My husband had the quail and he practically licked the plate. I had the seafood stew, nummy!! There was live music and they were excellent. Even sang happy birthday to me.. Can't wait to go back.
We enjoy having life music every night that we are there. And the music is the type that makes you sing along. People get up and dance and the feeling is friendly, comfortable. Other patrons actually speak to you as you pass by. The owner is a top notch host, making you feel like you are a top priority.
The owner of this restaurant makes the place! He makes you feel like part of a family. Their servers are wonderful and all work to help each other out. Atmosphere is great. It is nice to dress up a little and have a special night. They also treat the kids very well. They made my son a sausage pizza and fries (not on the menu) which was delicious! Seafood stew, lamb, salmon, and meatballs were very tasty. The complementary bread and cheese was different. I usually want to devour it myself. This time it tasted more like a white sauce. Upon mentioning, they did offer to add more cheese for me. Very accommodating.
Majid's was excellent! My fiance and I went there for his birthday and it was the perfect atmosphere. There is good live music, low lightening and candles. The service was honestly the best I have ever had. If you are looking for a fine dinning restaurant at an affordable level, GO to Majid's! The food is incredible and is not too pricey. I will never go to a restaurant like Ruth Chris again after having Majids!
We love the food, service and ambience of Majid's, and go there often. There is one single thing we dislike, but we put up with it because of all the other positives. The music offered is annoying, too loud and makes conversation difficult. We look forward to the breaks! We were there on a Saturday night.
Majid's is always delightful place to have dinner. Majid is alwas there to welcome guest and checks to make sure everything is as it should be. He generously served us an after dinner drink in celebration if my husband's birthday. We missed our favorite server, Robin, but service was impeccable. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Delightful evening with dear friends! Majid is a wonderful, welcoming and gracious host! Our food was delicious and the service was excellent! We always appreciate the warm, friendly atmosphere and the low level of noise, which is conducive to enjoyable conversations with friends. We definitely recommend dining at Majid's.
We had a late night birthday dinner which proved to be very comfortable with great food and service. Not many people were there since it was late on a Monday so service was very good. a complementary birthday desert was provided. It was our first time there and we will defiantly return.
Service was absolutely fantastic, everyone went out of their way to take care of us. The food however was not so great. We had the wedge salad and it was drowning in runny dressing. The Steak Frittes appeared to be an unappetizing preformed pc of meat - although, the larger of the two pieces was cooked exactly as ordered, the smaller piece was overcooked, dry and leathery. The waffle fries tasted like frozen oreida and not in a good way!!! The green beans were covered in oil and that was all you tasted. My husband had the Lamb shank and it was nothing memorable. We split a cheese plate and besides the service, it was the only shining star of the meal. Will not go back for dinner but may give it another shot for appetizers and drinks.
We took our house guests to Majid's for dinner and all four of us enjoyed it immensely. The food was delicious and the overall experience is enhanced by the presence of the congenial and always pleasant owner. We will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend Majid's to others.
Everything was good, but nothing was special. They advertise as a "Mediterranean" restaurant, but most of the menu is old-fashioned "Continental" cuisine that you might have found in the 50s. They were out of the dessert we ordered, then turned out to be out of our second choice as well. Service was friendly and helpful, but not as polished as it should be at an upscale place. Not cheap, but not overpriced, either.
The atmosphere is lovely, and it's quiet enough that you can actually converse, a big plus for us. It's not going to the top of our list, but is a good choice for people with relatively conservative tastes, especially when you want someplace quiet and a bit romantic.
Met my friend here for dinner, she was running late, but never did I feel uncomfortable from the staff about this! They gave me a table I preferred. The salmon and vegetables were SO good, as was the greek salad. 2 glasses of Angeline Chardonnay were good. Very friendly, warm, great waitress. And, a man who works there, maybe the manager, came by once or twice (we were there 3 hours!!!) and very quick and friendly asked how we were.
Wonderful experience, thank you!
