The intimate space contains a small dining room, a horse-shoe shaped cocktail bar, and special counter seating at the oyster bar. The full dinner menu is available at all areas of the space. In the summer, from June to September, the lush garden provides additional seating amidst an enchanted scenery.
Excellent service, plenty of staff on hand which minimized wait time for anything requested, food was fresh and flavorful, some dishes had deceptively small portions, and bathroom facilities were....fickle, regarding functionality. Excellent reservation system.
Everytime we come to NYC, we always go to Maison. We love everything about it! The staff are awesome, as is the food and music. You cannot go wrong stopping into this lovely place.
Loved almost everything we tried (excepting the gumbo), especially from the raw bar. Cocktails were great and our waitress was lovely and made some great suggestions.
Service was fantastic. The staff accommodated us easily even though our reservation had been moved, but not recorded in their reservation system. The wait staff was very friendly and really made our experience a lot of fun. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere is super cozy. I would come back her a million times.
Very good food, tables are small but it is a French restaurant so the norm. Lighting is very dim, so if you need glasses little hard reading menu without candle lol. But service was great and very attentive.
OVERRATED.
This place has the most terrible service I've ever seen. My waiter was polite at first then kept questioning my culinary taste by questioning my cocktail and food pairings. The linguine with lobster is $34 but is only enough for one. Mine came out cold and with some weird bread crumbs that kept me and my date coughing repeatedly and unable to finish it. After about an hour the waiter kept hovering nearby and asking me and other people if we were ready to get the check, almost as if they wanted us out. I had to verbally tell him off to get him to stop.
The ambience and decor is nice however but everything else sucks.
Maison is my most favorite place for any event. I’ve been coming here for years, every anniversary. The food is out of this world, it is always a pleasure coming here. I wish them the best in all they do here to continue to stay in business.
Maybe we were unlucky but service was rushed and had some arrogance about it. Had to return one course because it was cold. No apology of note. Just about acceptable but not for the money. Place is beautiful and has a lot of potential.
Food is disgusting! If you go here just buy oysters. Seafood gumbo is horrible! It was my first time to try absinthe and it was awful!!!!! The garden is ewww! Looks like an abandoned garden. Don’t go here! Not worth your money.
Food was amazing. Service was very slow. Wine was incredible
Best cocktails and oysters. If you like Absinth Maison Premiere is a must!
The oysters were delicious, the staff was friendly and attentive. It was a bit noisy but not too bad. Wish we would have been seated outside in the gardens
The only thing to do here is to enjoy the ambiance and be resigned that no one will pay attention to you, or apologize for taking 45 minutes to even notice you're sitting there, and then another 40 minutes to get a drink. I'd say: sit at the bar, and stick to the stuff off the raw menu. Everything else is really, really bad.
Delicious food and drinks as always. Perfect for any occasion. Love this place.
My favorite restaurant!
We sat in the garden for dinner and it was magical. Very romantic atmosphere and the service was top notch. The drinks were amazing and beautifully presented and the food was outstanding. We had the chef's selection of oysters and then the pork porterhouse and the black bass entrees. The dirty rice that accompanied the fish was so good, my boyfriend couldn't get enough and said he'd come back just for that. We had fresh house-made madeleines for dessert with a vanilla creme that was delicious and a very nice light treat after a full meal. Overall, just excellent. Can't recommend it enough!
This place so under delivers. The front to back are amatuer.
The experience started with the wonderful host Elizabeth confirming our reservation. She went out of her way to explain the different dining experiences available and recommended counter service. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. The environment was very lively, the bar was hopping and the bartenders were making some super fancy cocktails.
Our food was amazing-- seafood was so fresh. The oysters were super. The cocktails were excellent. Our bartender recommended a specific Amaro to close out my meal. It was one i haven't tried and was great.
I can't wait to come back and experience the raw bar and the garden.
Loved everything about this restaurant!! The food, service, and atmosphere was perfect. I’ll definitely recommend this to friends traveling to NY!!
Perhaps you should add a steak sandwich on french baguette or burger to the menu.
What else is there to say? Amazing raw bar. Other than the oysters, loved the razor clams. The bread plate with seaweed butter is definitely worth the up charge and a must get.
First time at Maison Premiere. The location is really nice, the garden is suggestive.
Oysters and wine are really good.
There was a little problem with the food order and the kitchen but it was kindly removed from the check. Appreciated it and will for sure come back!
Did not have many items on the menu and it was only 7:30pm. Other items were ordered and they came back to our table to let us know they did not have those items as well. Sat us at a table so small should not have had them there in the first place. Asked to be seated at a larger table many of which were open and unoccupied and they could not a accommodate quickly enough. The staff is young and not professional. They would rather not be working. Shame.
I've been here in the past and never experienced the issues we exprerienced sunday night (limited menu, 30 minute wait time for a food menu, another additional 15 min wait for a drink menu!) there must be something going on here - they only had their raw bar offerings and the only other option if you didnt want mussels or oysters was an lobster roll. we wanted to have a special birthday celebration for my boyfriend who previously has loved this place, but we both won't be back after the insane wait times and lack of options. crazy.
The restaurant is pretty nice, they have full bar and great outdoors. Service was very good, staff is very friendly and attentive, the food, however, was pretty much plain and overpriced. We loved the cheesecake though. Also I got my ankles bit by some insects under the table which is not very pleasant..
Really excellent dining experience. Cocktails, service, ambiance. It was a special occasion and it did not disappoint, definitely got laid afterwards. The lobster linguine was one of the best pasta dishes ive ever had. The absinthe cocktail list was second to none that i've experienced in the NYC area.
Always fresh and delicious. Exceptionally personal and friendly service.
Highly recommended for oysters (of course) but sea scallops are to die for.
The place is GREAT for sure but the menu is limited.
My husband and I come here for special occasions. Anniversary, birthday, etc. It is our favorite oyster bar. Incredible oyster selection, impecable service and an outstanding cocktail list to choose from. Always looking forward to our next visit!
seafood and drinks were amazing, oyster menu was awesome but we waited over 40 minutes for the oysters we ordered at happy hour and they came out unopened at first and the server had to bring them back to the kitchen, everything else was great. our server was kind but they should have more waiters working the back patio
Best seafood i’ve ever had. And the cocktails...the cocktails were beautiful. We sat outside. So lovely. By the time we were ready to leave, we were overwhelmed with delight. Certainly, most definitely well-recommended.
The perfect summer dinner in the city.
We had a table for two on the back patio with an indoor/outdoor view of the sky which went from cloudy to raining to clear in our 90 minutes enjoying dinner. We had 2 delicious drinks - the Maison Spring Pimm's and the Royal Caroline.
We started with a dozen oysters selected by the chef - 6 from the east coast and 6 from the west as well as 4 shrimp. The oysters had a wide range of size and flavors. It was a great tour of different kinds of oysters and a great start.
We had the Scallop Crudo which was succulent, sweet, and buttery with a touch of sea salt. I wanted to order 6 more.
Then the Oysters Rockefeller arrived with just a perfect breading and seasoning followed, finally by a delicious lobster roll prepared with huge chunks of flavorful lobster and crisp celery and a light coating of aioli and seasoning. My personal preference is just lobster and butter on a brioche roll but this was an excellent second.
I hope we'll be back soon.
This was my second time going to Maison Premier to celebrate a special event with my boyfriend and we were once again blown away by the service and the food. We wanted to be seated outside originally but the space was booked for a private event, the manager made it up to us though by giving us a secluded table close to the bar and a free glass of champagne. Our server was very knowledgeable of the oysters and made wonderful recommendations. It was a delicious and relaxing evening and we cannot wait to go back.
We waited 30 mins for a table (with a reservation) to find that once we were seated there were 3 open tables that remained open the rest of the evening. The food & drinks took forever to come out. And we weren't even comped our drinks. Not worth the money and poor service. The food was good though. Very disapointed.
Cutest place ever with delicious oysters, cocktails and food in general! The entire staff was extremely friendly and made our brunch experience great!!
A very special place. Excellent in every way. Never disappoints.
