About Maison Carlos
Maison Carlos is a continental restaurant with an emphasis on French and Italian cuisine. Carlos and Lanie Farias opened Maison Carlos in December of 2002. After seven years on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, the couple made the decision to move their establishment a couple miles south to the El Cid neighborhood. They wanted a smaller restaurant with more of a neighborhood vibe. The new space has only eleven tables and is open for dinner only. Carlos is there every night, seating people, taking orders and is very hands on. Being open only for dinner Carlos spends his days shopping for the restaurant, selecting only the freshest ingredients.

Maison Carlos Ratings and Reviews
We loved the atmosphere, very comfortable and quiet. Good service. Civilized people. My husband had a pork tenderloin that was very flavorful but definitely overcooked. There was a blob a thick dressing on his salad. It was not tossed. And who ever hear of the French using one of those thick disgusting dressings! My salad did have a nice, flavorful, thin dressing on it and it was tossed. However, several leaves of lettuce had no dressing on them. My risotto tasted like it was made with Velveeta.
Our friends did not go with us because they had been there several times and said the food was very spotty - OK sometimes and bad other times.
Maison Carlos is a hidden gem in WPB. In a non descript storefront along Dixie Highway it is easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention. If you are paying attention you will be rewarded by an outstanding dining experience beginning with a warm welcome from Carlos and continuing with a compact menu that offers wonderful dishes across the board. Everyone will find something to love from pizza to veal and my personal favorite, linguini with spicy meatballs, pure perfection. Prices are reasonable and you can bring your own wine if you so desire.
Very interesting choices on the menu, but my wife opted for the yellowtail snapper special and I for the veal special. Both were outstanding. I also tried the crispy pork belly appetizer which was excellent. Finished off with the key lime pie and coffee. I highly recommend Maison Carlos.
It was a rainy Friday night and we went to Maison Carlos!! It was a very enjoyable, pleasant dinner. Service was amazing with handsome Latino men. The owner stopped by the table and welcomed us!! We all had cocktails and the waiter brought a delicious thinly sliced fried zucchini (not at all greasy). Bread as served warm with butter!! Our appetizers were good, but the entrees were excellent, and then dessert,, we all had flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream! It was a delicious dinner!
We went for my husband's birthday. The food was mediocre at best. Especially for the price. There were six in our party and the cost was $241- which included a bottle of wine, an escargot appetizer, soup, 3 hangar steaks, chicken Milanese and shrimp risotto. I ordered veal piccata but after taking one bite I sent it back because something tasted so off that I couldn't eat it. I couldn't figure out if it was the veal or the cream in the sauce but I didn't want to eat more in case it made me sick. The steak was just ok and the portabello sauce that accompanied it tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. The risotto was nice and cheesy, but wasn't a good accompaniment to the shrimp and lacked salt and garlic. And I'm not a big fan of salt. I like things on the less salty side. But in this case, everything needed more seasoning. It was all quite bland. And the waiter misunderstood us with the chicken Milanese. It was on the pre fix menu and was supposed to be three courses- appetizer, main and dessert. For appetizer my daughter chose a salad but they didn't bring it. When I questioned the waiter he said it was because the chicken was served atop arugula. But when it came it was just a pounded breaded chicken breast with a salad on top. No sauce or anything. It was lack luster at best. He overheard us talking about a birthday so when he brought her dessert- key lime pie which she did not request- but they assumed she chose that- he put a candle in it and sang happy birthday to her, not my husband! (He also ordered dessert- cream brulee- which was the best thing on the menu but was overly warm). The key Like was good but not traditional. More like lemon meringue pie made with lime. It had a huge meringue on the top and the pie was made with cornstarch not sweetened condensed milk. Honestly, for the money I wish we would have gone to Three Forks. I felt bad because it was a birthday and it was my choice based on the wonderful reviews. We won't be going back.
We keep returning to Maison Carlos. We love having the owner on premises, along with his adorable son. The zucchini chips are a wonderful bonus. The food is great. Tuesday night $10 pastas in the summer will surely keep us going back! I enjoyed the Key Lime pie, which was brought out with a candle for my mother's 96th birthday!
Maison Carlos is probably my favorite restaurant in PB. Service and food are always consistently good, atmosphere is elegantly simple and there is never any of the pretension one often finds in this area. Carlos is always on hand and is genuinely charming and gracious. It's a lovely restaurant with delicious food.
Maison Carlos has a great deal of potential; however, the entrees lacked flavor. The shrimp risotto needed more garlic. The polenta was bland, as were the veal dishes. The complimentary chips were amazing, as were the desserts. The atmosphere is intimate and the waiters attentive.
Underwhelmed. My expectations were not met. Based on other reviews and a friend's recommendation it was a total disappointment. The rules tasted stale and the butter tasted like it had been in the refrigerator and absorbed other flavors it was also ice cold. The pasta I ordered was in a watery broth and a total disappointment perhaps I didn't read the menu correctly but it tasted like the pasta was floating in saltwater it was penne with sausage and broccoli rabe. There was nothing special about the entire meal service or the physical space.
very very very good service followed by impeccably flavorful and delicious food, the Mrs. had hanger steak which was charred to perfection, I had pasta and sausage which was fresh and tasty, never had to look for service they were attentive and on point from start to finish , will be going back
