Mahony & Sons - Burrard Landing Ratings and Reviews
Great window view. High chairs were a challenge. Enjoyed happy hour. We'll be at Mahoney's for a get together on December 18th in the Dublin room with more people. We should have a least 8 for our pre Christmas get together. Even though we are cost conscious your restaurant is very affordable. As we are retired we don't get downtown as much. But summer at your restaurant is my favourite time.
The reservation was made for a birthday. Nothing special was done by the restaurant for the occasion. The quality and quantity of food was lacking. Not very impressed. Will not be back. The only good thing about this restaurant is the location and you pay for that.
Impressed with the whole experience. Our table was located in the sun with a cool breeze; our neighboring table was far enough away we could have a work conversation without worrying about eavesdropping. Several Gluten-free options. Lily Belle's Cobb Salad was delicious. Waitress was quick and efficient, provided recommendations, never hovering or disappearing. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
Great place to sit outside on the patio and people watch or watch the float planes landing and taking off. Busy corner right on the waterfront makes it popular for lunch on sunny days. Good selection of pub food and spirits. We had mussels and an Aussie meat pie with our wine and both were delicious. Service was excellent.
GOOD SERVICE/GOOD FOOD/GREAT ATMOSPHERE/GOOD SIZE FOOD PORTIOS/FINE DESERTS

VISITORS TO VANCOUVER ..ALL THE VERY BEST ....CHEERS/P
This is a gem of a place. On the waterfront with stunning views of the harbour and the mountains. Greeted well and our server Cait was awesome. The food was very good as well.
We were both celebrating our birthdays so we each got a tiny candle on our desserts...so nice and thoughtful.
I love Mahony & Sons! Great atmosphere, incredible decor, amazing food, and just the nicest family run business. If you're looking for a fun, casual dining experience on the waterfont in Vancouver, check out the Burrard Landing or False Creek locations. Great summer patio experience. And then there's the UBC location if you're out that way. The Mahony brothers do a great job at all three spots!
The day we dined, the ovens were broken which limited the menu quite a bit. However, the worst part was this restaurant does not have high chairs which is surprising given its proximity to the cruise ship terminal and the large numbers of families visiting the waterfront. My daughter needed to sit in her stroller which was pulled up to the table. Unfortunately, there was not much room to do this....especially when a party was seated at the table behind us (even though there were plenty of other nearby empty tables). The food was just ok. The potato chowder was extremely thin and water based and lacked flavor aside from the high number of leeks.
Great location. Good variety of food on the menu to choose from. Service was slow. Had to wait for a long time for food to reach the table after the order was placed. Seen lots of staff walking around but service was still not attentive. Food was good as long as you don't mind waiting for a loooong time for it.
Our group has been to this restaurant many, many times over the years and we normally look forward to a great meal however this time the food portions were far below par for all 4 of our meals. I used to love the fish tacos - in fact Mahoney's were my favourite, but this time I only received 4 small nickel sized chunks of fish spread across the 2 tacos, the side salad was sparse; certainly not good value for a $16 plate. Two of the ladies ordered salads, again both will measly portions of chicken and greens. One salad's menu description mentioned it contained beets (great) but there was one small beat cut in half (not great). The gluten free fish taco option was a few chunks of fish on a bed of cabbage with taco chips and a few dips on the side. Again, not worth $16 a plate. After our meal when we mentioned our dissatisfaction to the server, she apologized profusely (suggested portions were lacking due to the busy time of day) and offered to get a manager but we didn't have any more time to spare. Busy or not - portions should never be so chintzy. Next time we'll take our luncheon elsewhere, lots of other great options nearby with far ample portions.
Beware some prices are listed as "market value" (in small print beside a price) however they fail to tell you what the price is until the bill comes so you'll be in for a surprise. I wasn't upset they brought the wrong order, but the price change did bother me.
Very good spot for a quick lunch or a drink after work. Great view of the harbour, great space. Food was higher than average pub food quality, but not what I would go out of my way for. Very lively and energetic atmosphere, I can see this to be a hopping place on Fridays or on game days. However not a good place to go if you want a quiet chat with a client or friend.
We had dinner here and it was OK. The location was great - right across from our hotel. We had
reservations and when we walked in I saw most diners sitting on high top tables so I asked for a
regular table. The hostess said that I should have requested that and that the main dining room
was full. The only place was in the bar area. How would a tourist know you had to request a
regular table? After our meal I went to the ladies room and in order to get to it I had to go thorough the main dining room, which had about three occupied tables. I guess they feel comfortable lying to guests and not accommodating them.
The restaurant has a nice water view. The food was average but the service was fair at best. I had the roasted chicken, which was overdone and dry - not very good. My son had the meat lovers pizza which he enjoyed and my husband had the tomato bisque soup which he said was OK.
All in all, a very average place with not much customer service. I would not return nor recommend.
We were a group of 7 on the patio and the service was very slow. Once we ordered the food took forever to arrive because the kitchen was "backed up". It was lunchtime in the summer they should expect a lot of customers and should have enough staff on hand. We had to send one order back three different times because it wasn't made right and hadn't been changed to accommodate an allergy. The server didn't know the menu well enough and every time we asked a question she had to keep going back into the restaurant to ask her manager or the kitchen the answer.
We went simple in our food selections for lunch getting the salmon burger and the chicken quesadilla. The food was good and fresh! We were there on Canada Day so the noise level was high but that was more or less what we expected and it helped capture the spirit of the day. Despite how busy they were the service was good and the food came out quickly.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the staff who behaved perfectly when a couple of idiots came through the exit door with a big dog. They told the couple, very politely, to leave the dog outside and to queue like everybody else at the entrance of the restaurant. Food was great, service was outstanding. But the highlight was to see the staff diffuse a situation that was making everyone who was seated at the patio very uncomfortable in a calm and cool manner.
We had a great view of the harbour from our table. Most of the seating provides a good view. Our server was so attentive, courteous and professional. I had the Dine Out experience and very much enjoyed my selection of the seafood chowder soup, vegetable curry dish and cheesecake. My friend had a burger and fries and it was plump and juicy and tasty. The place was quite busy and everyone seemed to having a good time. This made it a little on the noisy side but this is what makes it a vibrant bar scene. Later in the evening a singer/musician was playing and really added a personal flavour to the evening. I've been here a number of times before, for lunch, dinner and just drinks and will definitely go back.
