Mahi Mah's Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Saloon Ratings and Reviews
This was not our first visit to Mahi Mah's and we've been here before for the Easter buffet. This time the buffet was a disappointment. The grits were cold. I understand it's hard to keep the serving trays warm. There was a lack of variety. For example there was a cook making omelets but there was no bacon, sausage or pancakes. The only meat was a carving station of ham and lamb. The lamb was good but the ham had no flavor. There was a very limited variety of desserts as well. I spent 180 dollars for 4 people and felt that I wasted my money. The women's restroom was closed and the men's room was very dirty.
The service was awesome. However, our hostess sat us in the worst possible area--right smack in the middle of a crowded party of inebriated guests. Another sever seated is in a more quiet area. Our waitress was a little irritated, but overall, she was attentive.
Prices are comparable to elsewhere, but the beer prices are outrageous. How can you justify $8 for a beer on tap?
On the plus side, the view is gorgeous. I also applaud them for being original. It wasn't your stereotypical sushi joint with frenetic, "if it's Asian, it must be Japanese " style decor. Thanks for not doing that!
We do not drink alcohol so can not review anything from the bar. However, we do eat seafood and Mahi Mah's is one of our favorite places on the Boardwalk. A bit noisy for us, the food and service make up for it. Parking is tight so prefer to walk if we are close enough and weather permits or we use the valet service. It was very busy, so glad we made reservations through "open table." We were seated out near the bar and that was ok, but the cold air was blowing in from the Boardwalk door and shocked us a few times. Not much you can do about that, but we'll know better next winter, to not accept a seat out there! They allow substitutions on the menu, i.e. coconut rice for sweet potato... I just love that coconut rice and it goes well with all seafood! Looking forward to our next visit.
Took a friend out for her birthday. Had a pleasant evening although it was a bit loud. Ordered the spicy tuna roll and the smashed cauliflower which was really good. I did like that we were able to hang out at the table for a while without feeling like we were being rushed out. Will come back again.
One of the best Happy Hours on the beach. The .50 oysters paired with some 3.50 orange crushes were really good. Server was okay for level of service I was expecting, but if I didn't get happy hour prices I may have been upset at the speed of service. I will be going again in the future.
I like this place; however, I would not return for Thanksgiving. Only seafood offered: salmon and dried up mahi-mahi. The roast beef and collard greens are always fantastic. Enjoyed the root vegetables and goat cheese mashed potatoes. I've always appreciated the wait staff and the casual atmosphere. Will return....just not for a 'buffet'.
This review is for sushi only. It's all we ordered. Our server recommended the Tekebi roll and we chose the spicy salmon roll. Both delicious. We ended up ordering more since we were still hungry and got the tuna lovers roll. It was definitely our least favorite of the 3. We were there on a Saturday at 5:30. Frisbee tournament on the beach right outside, live music on the patio playing while we ate. Definitely a festive fun springtime beach atmosphere. Very busy, pretty loud and lots of activity inside and just outside on the boardwalk. Fun for people watching, as we got a nice table on the window facing the boardwalk. Not good for a quiet romantic evening for sure, but a lot of fun for an early Saturday meal with a few cocktails.
The occasion was Mother's Day and no where on Mahi Mah's website did it state that Mother's Day would only be a buffet at the cost of $35 per person until 5 pm. When arriving at the restaurant at the time of the reservation, the hostess also never informed me that only the buffet could be ordered and orders from the menu would not start until 5 pm, with no exception. I walked out embarrassed and disappointed and will never return there again. My son, who is an employee of PHR/Gold Key had given me a gift certificate that had to be used by 5/15/16, but the certificate has gone unused.
I went on Mothers Day and was not aware they were having a buffet. The selections were limited. We were not allowed to order off the regular menu. There was California rolls and veggies roll. Very limited seafood. It was very disappointing and expensive - $35/person and $15/5 year old and up. It was not worth the price and I was still hungry after.
I like Mahi Mah's but did not have a good experience on Mother's day. I didn't know that the only option is the mothers day buffet which was very expensive and low value, service was not very attentive and there was no view of the ocean due to the stands erected on the beach for the weekend. I wish I had gone somewhere else.
We made a reservation 2 weeks before Valentines on Open Table. When we arrived they seated us right away but to our surprise they had a special and very limited menu for Valentines Day. Had we made the reservation by phone they would have informed us of the special menu but Open Table doesn't seem to have that information. I am allergic to shellfish so there wasn't much to choose from but our waiter asked the chef if they had any other fish available that wasn't on the menu and they had Mahi Mahi. Our meals were excellent but next time for any holiday or "special " day I will call the restaurant to make a reservation and decide if I am interested in the PreFix menu
Waitress provided special menu that consisted of a four course meal., no pricing provided. When asked the waitress stated that the price for the menu was about $32 per person. When I received the check I noticed that everything was individually priced, totaling about $40 / person. Other than being cold, my wife and I enjoyed the meal.
The Thanksgiving buffet was good with some hits and misses. Everyone in my party agreed that the food was overly salted. The mahi mahi, sadly, was dry, but the turkey and sushi. The veggies were largely tasty, as was the crab mac-and-cheese. Great desserts.
