Always a great time at Magoo's! Jennifer is a great host and the staff is awesome! Check it out for great food and a good time!
It was a much smaller restaurant than I expected, but it was a real authentic Irish pub with good food.
Pretty good, we were happy.
Great meal. Enjoyed our time at Magoos. Busy night in Frederick so glad we got reservations.
We went here for my wife's birthday (she likes informal places). Very nice service, extensive menu, good food and good beer. We're happy with our choice.
Good food and very pleasant server. Will definitely go back.
Excellent burger supported by a good beer selection. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. We will definitively return again soon.
Magoo's is always great and never disappoints. Authentic Irish pub and cuisine as well as healthy options. Good beer selection with Guiness on tap. The chicken pot pie, crab dip, fish and chips and hot and crunchy chicken salad are favorites.
Good. burger and sandwich place. They had a good selection of beer including IPAs too. Service was very good and attentive and accurate. Plenty of room for our group of ten on a Monday night, although I hear it gets crowded the rest of the week.
Had a great meal last night. Very good atmosphere and excellent service. Food was served hot and prompt. Great Irish Pub feeling.
Nice surprise! In Frederick for a meeting and had a fun casual dinner. Staff very friendly and happy. Killer fries were outstanding.
Great to have live music while drinking a Guinness. Chicken pot pie was a winner.
You feel like you walked into an Irish pub in Ireland. Try the Shepherd's Pie or Chicken pot pie.
Everything from the service to the food was excellent! We had a group so we had the crab cakes, bangers and mash, fishwish sandwich, burgers and quesadillas! The waitress was wonderful even put up with 2 messy kids who kept spilling drinks! Would definitely go back! One note the food takes a bit to come out so if your in a hurry it might not be the best option!
Wanted to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Saturday after the crowds. So chose a cozy neighborhood gem to share brunch with a neighbor. Food and service was great and very reasonably priced. My neighbor and I really enjoyed our time there. The restaurant is very comfortable and relaxing but with an air of fun. It would be a good place to go before theatre performances too. I'll be coming back soon.
Nice little Irish-themed pub. Had several authentic Irish dishes on the menu. But had other food as well. 4 of us: 1 had fish & chips, 1 had salad with blue cheese & chicken, 1 had white pizza , 1 had mussels in garlic butter sauce w/ house salad. All meals great with no complaints. We were impressed that a little, local, neighborhood watering hole/eatery handled such varied menu items all equally well. Service was perfect: right there, but not intrusive while we were having a get-together of old friends who hadn't seen each other in over a year. By the time we left around 7:30 PM, noise level was definitely climbing. Table next to us had a family with youngster, so works for families though it is definitely a pub/bar.
Great atmosphere , Awesome food selection, from apps to main to desserts!! Everything was hot and tasty on a COLD festive evening. Especially enjoyed the Hot Buttered Rum!!
Will definitely be going back soon 😊
It took 1 & a half hours to get our food. ( sadly The usual time is still 45min. To 1 hour)
Overall our experience was good, but everything took too long. We waited over half an hour for our food and it wasn't that crowded. We were late for tickets we had to the theater so we had to ask about the status of our food. We also asked for separate checks. Our waitress had to hand write each check and break out a calculator to calculate the total and tax for each person. The menu felt a little off theme for an Irish pub (i.e. Potstickers and dumplings). I think the menu is too large for their small kitchen.
We ate at Magoo's based on the 5 star rating on Open Table.
There were only two couples in the restaurant. The service was good and all were friendly. But, this is a nice local bar not a 5 star restaurant. There is no wine list and the choice of wine is limited to house brand. The food we ordered was good, but be prepared for an Irish themed local pub not a 5 star restaurant.
We made our reservation and after we arrived, the hostess informed us that she was overbooked and couldn't honor the reservation
The hostess was abrupt and somewhat loud, poor interpersonal communication skills
Passing through on business, used to OpenTable app to find supper - a great selection. Cozy, no pressure atmosphere to enjoy my Harp in. Despite visits to other Irish pubs, never saw boxty on a menu. Really enjoyed it! Hope my travels take me through Frederick soon again!
Wife and I had a night away from the kids and didn't know what to do with ourselves, so we figured we'd try something new for dinner . She had the spicy crispy chicken (or something like that) and I had the Dublin Coddle, which is like a white wine garlic seafood stew. Oh and a couple Black & Tan's of course. Beer was cold, food was tasty. We'll be back.
Great pub experience. Food was very good and wait staff was nice and attentive. Bartender took our order and recommended a grapefruit shandy. We ordered a draft cider instead, but she brought us a taste of the shandy to try since she was changing out the keg. It was a good recommendation. Overall it was a great experience.
Love this place. A little hidden off Market St but glad we found it a couple weeks ago. Have been twice and always great food, good drink selection and good service.
Nice quiet venue for breakfast catching up with friend. Great bloody Mary's and crabby eggs!
Food was great and nice Irish Bar. Very noisy but I guess that is somewhat expected for dinning in a true bar. Staff was pleasant, but could have been more freindly and fun especially considering it seems and looks like such a fun Irish bar.
First time there and it really was a fun atmosphere. Tthe food was good and the wait staff were great and right on top of everything. We'll be back.
Want to be transported to Ireland without the airport hassle? This is the place 8f you're near Frederick, MD. Cold beer on tap, nice servers, stick-to-your-ribs food. Highlight was the hot crab dip with a pint of Guinness. Nice example of what a neighbor bar should be. What more could you ask for
Showed up 5 min early for reservation. Told it was going to at least 20 mins to get seated. With theater reservation that wasn't going to work. Went to Jojos and it was great. Not sure they get how reservations work. Won't be back
Loved it! Great food & great service
Overall my impression was, 'OK place', but that may have been due to the company I was with. The Shepherd's Pie I had was really just a decent Guinness Stew with lamb covered in mashed potato. It tasted good, but wasn't what the title said it would be. Several of us had one of their bread pudding for dessert, and it was terrible. Someone in the kitchen forgot how to make it apparently because my dish was essentially just old bread. There was no sauce involved at all. When they came to clear the dishes we pointed this out, but the management made no attempt to fix the issue. Too bad.
I have been twice for dinner and have enjoyed all the food. Crab Dip is excellent with bread or on their French Fries. I have also had sandwiches both times and they were very good. Nice selection of beers and cocktails. We definitely dine here at least one time a month.
Not a good customer experience. Our reservation were for 8:15 we were seated about 30 mins late, the owner was seating her friends and walk ins without reservations before our party. It took more than 20 minutes for our waitress to get our drink order. The Chieftain Burger was bland and poorly prepared, was supposed to have bacon... Had a couple of Bacon Bits (Literally). Lastly The Fish & Chips were obviously frozen fish out of a box... Overall not a good dining experience
If you want good Irish/American food this is the place. I usually have the lamb stew. Lots of meat potatoes, carrots and all the other ingredients that make up a good lamb stew. My friend had the Chicken Pot Pie and she was very pleased with what was presented to her. This is also the place to go for a Guinness.
We go for the food. Good hearty fare. The beer choices also fit the bill.
We went for brunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was 1/3 full. It took over an hour to get our food...definitely go if you have lots of time on a Sunday...if you need to be somewhere by dinner...skip it.
After making a reservation on Open Table, the waitress "couldn't find my name" and wasn't at all worried about seating us. We were sent to the basement (literally, a basement). Eventually, we got a table upstairs. It's a small establishment but still service was poor. Waited for drinks, waited for food, no personality at all.
We have never been disappointed at Magoo's. The chicken pot pie is one of my favorites and my husband usually orders the crab cakes.
I came up from DC for a show. My date selected this place, it was pretty standard Irish Bar Food.
