Wonderful server Maria who was knowledgeable. My dad's birthday and she couldn't have been sweeter to him.
We went for the Mothers Day Brunch special. Everything was delicious and Mom loved it.
Dinner and service was great and it is always until the mariachi band started to play. They band is so loud it makes the visit very unenjoyable. You can't talk and the noise level is at excruciating levels that it causes headaches! Need to make sure we never visit on a Wed night!!
Always a yummy spot. Good for families. We came her for Cinco De Mayo celebrations and enjoyed the live band.
Never been in a Wednesday evening before and discovered they have a Mariachi band on. Adds to the noise level, but great ambiance! Never had a bad meal here. Love it!
Energetic fun place to meet friends. Varied food and drink menu.
Great food always at Mago's Grill. Delicious chips, salsa & guacamole! Best Margarita's ever!! Always good service!!
We sat near the kitchen which was perfect because I had ordered sweet potato fries. Thank gosh we were sitting there because I saw a batch that was put under the heat lamp before we even ordered. It sat there and sat there. Then when our food was up and I said I was missing them from my order, the food runners just moved those fries that were sitting up there for almost an hour, over to where our server grabbed them and served to me. I insisted they make me a fresh batch and the server gave no huff or puff about it which was nice for once!
The best thing ever is still the table side guacamole!
Great food! Great atmosphere! We will definitely be going back again for another date night with friends!
FYI-lemonade is not free with a kids meal. They tried to charge me $6 for 2 lemonades for my kids. I got the manager and he basically said “sorry, you’re paying for them”. I said absolutely not. Our waitress clearly saw the kids menus when my boys ordered. She could’ve told us and she didn’t. He ended up taking them off the bill, but it was a major hassle.
Good spot close to home for a quick bite. Service and food were good but left a bit to be desired.
Authentic Mexican cuisine. The food and service was excellent. It was a good value, also.
Great food and waitress was awesome.
Not a cheap date, but a wonderful dinner and fantastic ambience!
First we were greeted by teenage girls at the check-in counter who told us WITH ATTITUDE that there was a wait for our reservation. When we finally got to our table, our waiter provided chips, but no salsa. The waiter went awol, so we had to flag someone down and ask for salsa, which didn't arrive until well after our tableside prepared guacamole. Once past these two issues, everything settled down to a relatively positive experience. In my opinion, prices are inflated for what you get.
My husband and I love Mago. We go there all the time for the fabulous margaritas with lambrusco in them. All of their food is excellent - we've never had a bad dish and have been here more times than we'd like to admit. My husband loves the ground beef burrito and I usually order fajitas or enchiladas. Their chips, guacamole and salsa are superb, too!
We had a lovely spot by the window in room at the west side. It was perfect for our date night.
Birthday with friends - party of 17 - a lot of work for one server, but she had plenty of support and did an amazing job! Thank you to Maria Elena for your hard work and excellent service.
We brought friends who where there for the first time and everyone loved their meal.
Thanks Mago! A great birthday!
The service was great from everyone who attended to us and everything regarding the menu was explained including sampling the sauces you could pick from. The food was really good, too, the salsas were delicious. I will definitely return.
Good Service and good food. We were seated in less than 3 minutes and the server greeted us right away.
An unfortunate off night for Mago. My family went out for St. Patrick’s Day dinner and the service was totally off. First, our server was basically cold and annoyed that I was not reciting the menu items appropriately in Spanish, and I had to check and repeat the orders of me and my young son about 3 times. A bus boy asked us if we wanted more tortilla chips, and we said yes. They never showed. Then our dinners were served ... except they forgot to put in our son’s order. So he hungrily nibbled off my plate while out original server and the one who delivered our food tried to triage the situation. My son’s food didn’t come out for another 10 min. No real apology once it was finally delivered. The food all tasted very good - just was a struggle from a service standpoint.
Delicious food, great service and a nice atmosphere.I really liked it
Our first visit for Valentine’s Day was great so we came back again. The table side prepared guacamole was fantastic. Definitely will return again and again
First visit but won’t be our last. Our server was excellent and the food was delicious.
Mago's Cantina is great for authentic Mexican cuisine and good service. They do a very fun birthday celebration, also.
Great food and service. Awesome decor. Generally cool place.
This was a late afternoon date, and her suggestion. I requested a booth and we took a high-top, by the bar, which was good and somewhat private. We both liked the interior atmosphere. My date and I both ordered the 2-taco entrees (she had 2 steak, I has steak and mahi-mahi) and they were delicious. Also ordered the made-at-the-table guac, which was supurb. The guava flan dessert was outstanding. My date had a large margatita, which was a bit pricey ($14). My Kaliper N/A beer was a reasonable $4. I did take advantage of the Groupon ($25 for $40 worth of food & drink) which is a good deal. Only comment is we had to ask a couple times for more chips, which we needed for the guac and salsa (they bring out a flight of three salsas, and we got extra mild. I would definitely go back! Our 4pm reservation was timed perfectly. When we left a couple hours later there was a line out the door. We both commented that the portions were just right, and we didn't feel stuffed, even with all the chips, salsa and guac. So we strolled to the cupcake store across the way and ordered a couple cupcakes each to go.
I was prompted to visit Mago after purchasing a Groupon deal. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Our serve was very attentive and kind. The chips and salsa they gave when we sat down were very good. I also had a specialty margarita that was FANTASTIC. Our food came quickly and was very delicious and the portion sizes were generous. We had arroz con pollo and steak/shrimp fajitas. I think the value was the meal was great (with/without the groupon) The only negative was the seating arrangements. We had a small table for 2 and it was very tight. Had we both ordered fajitas it would not have been easy to keep everything on the table. Other than that I was very pleased and can't wait to return.
MAGO'S CANTINA SERVES TABLE SIDE GUACAMOLE WHICH IS DELICIOUS. THEIR AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE IS SUPERIOR TO MANY MEXICAN RESTAURANTS AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS GREAT.
Went here for a dinner date with my husband, and there were more children than we would have liked for a Saturday night. However, the food was fresh, fun and tasty and the service was great, so I can't really complain. Restaurant was noisy but we didn't have trouble hearing each other. Menu was a little pricey but plenty to choose from.
I had the orange chicken and it was bland and no orange taste anywhere in the dish. I had a few bites and took it home and threw it away. The table side guacamole is good but very expensive
A couple friends and I came here after church on Saturday night. I'm so glad that we made reservations because it was packed! Rightfully so as the food is very good. It's a bit pricey though, $11 for 3 tacos which does not include rice or beans with it. We've been about half a dozen times at this location and Arlington Heights who does have better mahi mahi tacos than this location [very dry here]. That's why I ordered the vegetarian tacos.
The waiting area, or lack of, was extremely crowded. Groups of people were waiting literally standing next to people eating their dinners. The food and drinks were very good but I would NOT go to this location again.
We met another couple. You walk into a crowd of people as there is no where to stand while waiting for your table. Noise level extremely high. Food was ok, the guacamole at table was the best. The pitcher of Margaritas that was half full of ice was $40. First and last time there for me.
Went here with a group of gals and the waitress asked us every 10 minutes if we were ready to order even after telling her we were waiting for another person before ordering. We were ordering rounds of drinks so it wasn't as if we were just sitting there eating chips (there was very little alcohol in the drinks). After our guest arrived, the waitress immediately asked if we were going order. She did even get a chance to see the menu. Once my friend looked over the menu, the waitress just stood there with her pad of paper and pen. Vegetarian enchiladas had nothing in them, so don't waste your money. Oh, and the persistent waitress? Never saw her again until after she dropped off the checks without asking if we wanted them. Will not be coming back here. Service sucked.
Always good, we go once a month.
Great Mexican food served amongst skulls and Lucha Libre Masks...fast service...guac made tableside...tasty salsas....worth it!
Great experience as always! Food is excellent!!
