Mago Grill & Cantina - Bolingbrook Ratings and Reviews
Tableside guacamole was awesome. Should have stuck with that and a mojito / beer. I had the carne asada and camarones (shrimp) tacos - ok, but no big wow. Husband had the flat iron steak which he really liked and the bite I had was very good.
VERY loud and dinner was consistently interrupted by the loud blender from the bar (which we were not sitting near). Service was ok but somewhat slow.
Great spot for a drink and guacamole, might reconsider dinner.
We have been to Mago before and decided to go back to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I indicated that on the app when I made the reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary. No mention was made of this by our server or the hostess that seated us.
Our server greeted us quickly and provided water and asked if we wanted a drink before we even had a chance to review the menu. We reviewed the drinks menu and ordered a couple of nice drinks along with an appetizer. Both came quickly which we were enjoying and before we finished our appetizer, our dinner was out already. Our server didn't recognize that we were not pleased with it coming out so fast before we were even finished with the appetizer. We felt we were being rushed and didn't understand why as the restaurant was not busy at all. We were hoping for a relaxed dinner to celebrate our special day. Instead, we felt rushed and were out of the restaurant in 50 minutes. The food was delicious as our previous visits before, but did not enjoy being rushed.
Only complaint is we ordered the table side guacamole I had been there before and told my friends all about it, when the waitress brought it to our table I expected the cart and she said the cart does not come out on the patio, she said it very rudely and should have told us that when ordering!
We eat here occasionally, even taking friends from out of town. The food as always was excellent and reasonably priced. The service left something to be desired. After starting off pretty good with a quick turnaround of our cocktail order and a knowledgeable description of the specials, our server went into hibernation. She would come by occasionally to check on us, but if we asked for something (the water pitcher to be refilled) she left with the bottle and didn't return for 20 minutes empty handed. When asked about the water, she said she must have taken it to the wrong table. Our check was left at the table without an opportunity to order desert. She didn't appear to be new, I think she just didn't care about the service she provided.
Service is always hit or miss. Been here multiple times for business lunches and still needs improvement. Got seated, waiter never came to greet us. Over 15 minutes later he comes for drink orders, we all are content with the waters and would like to order - first we wanted guacamole to start... he took that order then proceeded to walk away when we asked to put in all the food. Finally we got our food ordered and when we were ready for the check, he was very quick about taking our card, returning it, and grabbing the signed receipt before we left. Just unsure if it's worth it to keep going back and be disappointed but the food is always great and one of the better options in the Promenade
This is our second time at this Mexican Restaurant. The first thing that stricks you is the 3 salsa sauces they start you with. Their Salsa Verde is excellent..they all are really. The meals for all of my group were great and didnt disapoint. I had the Chicken Enchalada and it was cooked and presented perfectly.
We had tableside guacamole which was excellent as well. A great place in Bollingbrook.
Food was very flavorful. Service was good but could not always understand our waiter. A bit pricey, but very unique/authentic menu, so probably worth it. Guacamole was excellent. We selected medium spicy, but it wasn't that spicy, so next time we will try the spicy one. Desserts were excellent. We tried the churros....very yummy, and the Tres Leches de la Semana....to die for!!!!
Food and service were fantastic. We were seated right next to the mariachi band and while the music was nice one of the male vocalists (trumpet player) was just way too loud. We were yelling across the table just to have a conversation so it made for a very meh dinner especially considering the bill was $150+ for 4 people.
