Very good Mexican with some novel dishes. The fish tacos were excellent, but the chorizo was mouth-watering.
My wife and I have going here almost since it opened. We've tried some of your typical Mexican items on the menu which were great. Then we found the fajitas en molcajete. We haven't ordered anything else since. We've always experienced great service as well. We recommend Mago to anyone who enjoys Mexican food.
From the front door greeting, thru our meal, and upon leaving, Mago's is a great experience and restaurant. We have dined here for years and highly recommend it.
Great food. Great service. It has gluten-free items marked on the menu which made it easy for the member of our party who can’t have gluten. .
It would have been a better experience but the service was not good. I ordered a fish taco and after one bite, it tasted so bad I was afraid to eat it thinking the fish was bad and would make me sick. My waitress never even checked on us to see how everything was.
Located close to home and great team and food. Enjoyed lunch with two other colleagues - would always encourage others to enjoy the food, staff, and experience at Mago Grill & Cantina.
Been there three times. The food has been very good each time. It's Mexican Gourmet. I like the DIY Mole variations and specials. The Vera Cruz Alaskan Cod is my favorite. Haven't tried, the typical taco and fajitas yet, however they look awesome. For dessert the tres leiches cake is awesome as was the strawberry flan (seasonal flan). You need to make reservations because it's always crowed.
Always enjoy the food and service; however it is a very noisy restaurant.
Amazing dinner and service! Our waiter, Efren, was attentive, gave wonderful recommendations and was very friendly. Good was delicious, as always and the drink special was fantastic!!
This place is perfect for anyone seeking a good Mexican dining option. The service was fast, portions great and food was awesome. Definitely recommend this place.
Food has a very fresh and flavorful taste! Wait Staff was very good as well!
Great food and drinks! Will definitely go again. Enjoyed everything.
The food was good, but it did not knock my socks off. I can get "good" Mexican food at the taco joint down the street from me. And it is REALLY expensive. The "free" salsas (they made sure to let you know it was free about ten times) were interesting, and when they tell you the orange one is spicy, BELIEVE THEM! I paid $10 for a OVERPRICED, liquorless, way too sweet margarita- so shy away from the frozen. The fajita meat was good (steak). My husband got a seafood special. It was good, but pretty expensive. And it was NOISY. We had to scream to be heard, and we sat next to each other (yes, that couple...just so we could hear!). Overall, everything was just "good" (except the drinks...those were bad)...which means we paid way too much money and left with regret at having spent that much money on Mexican food, better of which we could have gotten for a few bucks at a taqueria.
Wonderful Ambience great food and friendly and wonderful wonderful service
I love Mago Grill however, I though the brunch cost was pricey and wasn't fond of being charged an 18% gratuity for buffet style service.
My wife really likes Magos for me it’s ok we Will never however go to the buffets if they do it again because it was not good for me and it was overpriced for what you get.
Food was delicious. Unfortunately, place is very noisy.
Great Food...Delicious Drinks...Friendly servers. LOVE the carne asada with poblano mashed potatoes.
Service and food were great, as usual.
Fantastic all the way around. We need a Magos in New Lenox!
Service was very good although the food was very over seasoned. We had been there a couple times in the past and enjoyed our meal which is what brought us back. Don’t see us returning after last night experience.
Unfortunately we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant (heavy traffic), the server was not engaging (forgot to bring ordered drinks), was very load.
I love mago! The table side quacamole is so good, it's ruined all other quacamole for me!
The food is delicious, the made table side guacamole is a must! Great for a date night. Only concern is it can get a little crowded/loud, but otherwise everything is great. Lots of great vegetarian options too.
We were seated quickly and service was great. My food came out a bit cold but flavor was spot on. Overall a good experience.
Love this place! Had the Hazelnut Mole on Salmon. AMAZING!!
Highly flavorful, creative dishes. We had a margarita that was out of this world! Our visits there have never been less than excellent.
Today's experience at Mago was fantastic. From our server to the food, it all was perfect. I have been coming to Mago since it opened. The food here is very good, different and tasty. The restaurant itself has a bar area that can get very cramped during the busy hours. This is a very popular restaurant so the wait can be long, so that is why I recommend making a reservation to avoid the wait. In warmer weather, you can enjoy seating outdoors, too. The menu offers a good variety of food, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. We were brought a basket of tortilla chips with three salsa from mild to hot as soon as we sat down. Our server Efren was fantastic...personable, knowledgeable of the preparations of dishes, attentive and provided very good service. He enhanced our dining experience. Looking over the menu, I was disappointed, though, that the owners took the grilled calamari and the hearts of palm salad off the menu. In this day of health-conscious people, not everyone wants fried foods. A healthy alternative that I enjoyed is no longer available. I did ask for the grilled calamari to be prepared since there is fried calamari on the menu, but the chef could not accommodate my request. I miss that grilled calamari! Powers that be, please reconsider and bring it back as an option. We didn't order the tableside prepared guacamole, but know it is the bomb as we've had it in the past. For our entrees, my husband had the chicken enchiladas mole xico. He devoured them! The mole was rich, thick, tasty with a kick at the end. I had the cod cooked with sundried tomatoes, capers, olives, cilantro over oven roasted potatoes. The cod was perfectly flaky and moist and the sauce amazingly flavorful. Always good food! I'm glad with the changing restaurants in the promenade that Mago has stood the test of time.
It was super crowded. People lined up all the way outside.
The food at MAGO was yummy as usual but we (my two friends and I) felt very rushed. It was surprisingly crowded for a Wednesday evening, but we made a reservation and wanted to have time to enjoy our dinner and catch up. We ordered 2 different appetizers which we were barely able to enjoy before the busboys came along to clear our plates. They then continued to come by the table every few minutes, trying to grab whatever looked untouched to them. We kept having to tell them we weren't quite finished. Also in their haste to turn our table over, they gathered up the used plates and some discarded food fell onto our entrees-not pleasant. Our waiter was quite friendly and accommodating, but disappeared for a bit after dropping off our check. We were surprised considering they seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of us. We hardly over-stayed our welcome, we were out of there by 8 p.m. after a 6:30 reservation. Not sure why they would want to rush paying customers ordering drinks, appetizers, and entrees...unfortunately we will probably go elsewhere the next time we hit the Promenade. Such a shame too, since the food is always delicious, especially the guacamole freshly made table-side.
The food was fantastic and I was very glad that I had a reservation because there were a lot of people waiting without one. Our server got our bill wrong and it took a very long time for her to sort out the 3 menu items that we did actually order.
Food and service were excellent, as usual. Restaurant was very busy but our waiter gave us just the right amount of attention.
The Mexican food here by chef Juan Luis is on par with Frontera Grill. The selection of mole sauces is fantastic. Great margaritas. Service was friendly and attentive.
Overall, a good experience at this Mago location. I felt like the waiter and other staff did not pay attention to me and my date. I actually saw the server see that our chip basket was empty and walk away...and grabbed and refilled another table's chip basket! Things like that are frustrating and make me think that if I'm going to spend $60 on dinner for two, I will spend my money elsewhere. I spent too much money on food and drinks to be treated like that. Mago has a fun atmosphere and food is good, but overpriced in comparison to competitors.
Great food, drinks and service.
This establishment for my first time ever stuck to the reservation time. Usually they make you wait. Even with an hour and a half wait time they sat us immediately. Great food, drinks. Very happy
Love this place. Wish it was bigger and closer to home. I live 20 miles away but make the drive at least 4 times a year.
Being this restaurant a Latin and Mexican cuisine, I was expecting the dishes to be more "Latin" and "Mexican". I was disappointed to find out that most of the dishes come with mashed potatoes and a sauce (chipotle, green, etc). What happened to rice and beans? Having an enchilada with mashed potatoes is like eating fettuccine with gnocchi.
In addition, the tables are so close to each other, there is barely room to move. Our table had to pass the plates around to the people seating at the opposite side of the table where the waitress would come; she could not go around the table. Every time someone walked behind our table, they would bump whoever was sitting there.
Great place! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and awesome food!
