Mago Grill & Cantina - Bolingbrook Ratings and Reviews
Food is good . I made the reservation for my friends 's birthday party. Call that morning to ask about do I need to bring a cake for my friend. The person who pick up the phone said they will give one complimentary for a birthday person.
After dinner , I asked one of the waiter . He said he know nothing about it. And nothing for Birthday . I have to walk up twice to talk to somebody about that . End up they gave one cup of something. I was disappointed to choose to have a party at their restaurant. Because I feel like other place will be more appropriate for a business.
charging 18% serviced charged for a party and the service what we had. It's no go back for any party for us.
An unexpected delight in a suburban shopping mall. We were meeting friends and had never heard of/been to Mago. The food was delightfully different. I had enchiladas Verdes with Chicken and they were way better than the standard run-of-the-mill restaurant enchiladas. My husband had pork with pistachio mole sauce which was amazing. All in all, it was great and we wish there was one closer to us!
Table side guacamole is the bomb! The 3 salsas they bring with the chips are also very good. Tacos are tasty and a good value - really liked the carne asada and shrimp ones. The different mole sauces are always very good and not something you’d find at every Mexican restaurant. The spicy margarita the bartender made for me was delicious (not on the menu) and appreciated!
We love this place! You have to try the tortilla soup. Unfortunately, they only make it during the coldest months. (We’d eat it year round, if they would make it.) The carne asada is great. Love the guacamole they make fresh right at your table. We’ve never been disappointed with anything we’ve eaten. Margaritas are great too. It is a little pricey, but worth it. (Look for groupons)
Very good food, decent service, nice spirit. A Mariachi band is in place on Thursdays. Sometimes the noise level with the band is too loud but due to sitting behind them on this visit, it was perfect. Their gluten free chips and dishes are appreciated. We had steak tacos and chicken enchiladas. Good margaritas too!
Not impressed. We were seated at the table right across from entry door. With it being a cold windy night, every time someone opened the door we were blasted by cold air. Fajitas were good, tableside guacamole was good, everything else meh. Had to ask the waitress twice for one of the drinks. She gave us the bill before checking to see if we wanted dessert. Overall not that great an experience, I won't be rushing back any time soon.
We made a reservation on line for 4:30 party of 6. We received a confirmation number however, when we got to the restaurant no reservation was found. Fortunately they did were not full. We had a good time but if they were full, I would have been very disappoint
Great good & Service! Friendly, knowledgeable staff! My man Efren is a GREAT server and Chef/ Owner Juan Luis kills it w/ a great mix of new items, specials and favorites. Try the Ropa Vieja as an entree- OUTSTANDING!
We are at Mago about 1x per month; if not more! Also, if it’s really busy sit at the bar and have a great margarita and an appetizer. It’s all good!
Tableside guacamole was awesome. Should have stuck with that and a mojito / beer. I had the carne asada and camarones (shrimp) tacos - ok, but no big wow. Husband had the flat iron steak which he really liked and the bite I had was very good.
VERY loud and dinner was consistently interrupted by the loud blender from the bar (which we were not sitting near). Service was ok but somewhat slow.
Great spot for a drink and guacamole, might reconsider dinner.
We have been to Mago before and decided to go back to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I indicated that on the app when I made the reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary. No mention was made of this by our server or the hostess that seated us.
Our server greeted us quickly and provided water and asked if we wanted a drink before we even had a chance to review the menu. We reviewed the drinks menu and ordered a couple of nice drinks along with an appetizer. Both came quickly which we were enjoying and before we finished our appetizer, our dinner was out already. Our server didn't recognize that we were not pleased with it coming out so fast before we were even finished with the appetizer. We felt we were being rushed and didn't understand why as the restaurant was not busy at all. We were hoping for a relaxed dinner to celebrate our special day. Instead, we felt rushed and were out of the restaurant in 50 minutes. The food was delicious as our previous visits before, but did not enjoy being rushed.
