Mago Grill & Cantina - Arlington Heights
Very flavorful food and well-presented. We were not in the main dining room, which was good, because it was not noisy and we could carry on a conversation. A little on the expensive side for Mexican food, but we both enjoyed our dishes. Tres Leches cake for dessert was delicious and plenty for 2 to share.
Excellent food and friendly service. We went in. the winter time, so I am excited to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the entire area!
We met 2 other couples here for dinner on a Friday night. The first two people to arrive (early) were seated right away, which is nice. Restaurant was relatively quiet, but it picked up as we dined.
We enjoyed the guac prepared table side; our entrees were delicious. Two of us ordered one of the specials-short ribs with artichokes and black beans-it was fabulous.
Service was great, server upbeat and helpful with suggestions but not pushy. We will definitely go back!
Thanks for the birthday wishes
The food was fresh, the service was outstanding, but I thought it was expensive. Each course is a la cart, cocktails are expensive. Just because your price point is the same as neighboring restaurants doesn't mean it should be. I'll go back, but not often, there are plenty of Mexican food choices that are equal in taste and are much more affordable.
Very good, authentic. Excellent quality and large portions.
Sometimes it is noisy but the food and drinks are delicious
Food just fair. Ordered a dish and when it came with onions which I don’t eat the waiter said “were a Mexican restaurant we use onions” I said well for allergies you really need to list ingredients . They could provide one dish without onions and couldn’t do vegetables without. Chicken was dry and stringy...
My table sever was not friendly and so rude.
And so much loud and noisy.
Not our first dining experience here, always great. Wait staff exceptional.
This was our first time eating at Mago. Our server was extremely friendly and overall service was great. The food was delicious. It arrived hot and very quickly, even though the restaurant was full. We will definitely be back!
First time . Saw Christmas Carol. Great night.
First, we made reservations through Open Table and when we arrived they didn't have our reservations. Luckily I had my I-Phone with a copy of the confirmation and they seated us although with some "discussion."
Where they first seated us was ice could and drafty. We eventually moved to a warmer location and they said they turned up the heat. Several customers came in, sat down and then quickly left without ordering evidently because it was too cold and drafty.
I ordered a basic margarita for $10. It came in a small glass. I took about three drinks of it and it was finished. Ridiculous value.
The food choices did not appeal to us and the portion size was very small.
The one good thing was the guacamole made table side was excellent.
The experience wasn’t great. My family and I were going out to celebrate my aunt’s birthday. I made a reservation for 6 people originally for 7pm but decided to change the time to 5:30pm as people had cleared their schedules. When we arrived the hostess could not find our reservation at all, even when I showed her the confirmation emails from OpenTable. Luckily the restaurant was mostly empty so we were seated immediately. From there the waitstaff was mostly friendly and attentive. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was a let down. Every plate we ordered was heavily doused in sauce to the point where it felt as if we were eating soup instead of what we ordered. We compared our meals with those pictured on Yelp and there was noticeably more sauce on ours than in those pictured. Overall the experience wasn’t the best.
Great food, steak taco and fajitas meat was soft and tender. Margarita was also good!
A friend recommended this restaurant and we were very happy with the recommendation.
Mago is becoming a favorite. The staff is energetic. The food is always tasty. We enjoyed ourselves so much we really lost track of time. Even though it was a Saturday night, we never felt rushed by the staff. Way to go, Mago!
Excellent food. The service was superb. Yes it's a little on the pricey side but it was worth it.
Tried this place before a show at The Metropolis and it did not disappoint! Great fajitas and margaritas!
Always enjoy our experience and love the food at Mago Grill!
Average restaurant with food that appears to come off a cafeteria style steam table.
Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Service was good and quick. Biggest complaint was that there was not nearly enough room at a table for 2....very crowded! Chips, salsas, water glasses, water bottle, plates, drink glasses and silverware left no room to even set the menu down..now add the table-side guacamole bowl to this congestion and we were dumping stuff onto the table next to us. Also, if you have tickets to the Metropolis performance, they will give you a 10% discount, but this is something that I did not see advertised...only found out by eavesdropping on the table next to us
Our server was amazing and the food was excellent!
This is one of our favorite local Mexican restaurants. Reservations are highly recommended to ensure quick seating. Food flavors are amazing. We love the 3 salsas they bring out with chips. Excellent selection of moles, all outstanding. Good variety of tacos. Highly recommend.
The food was very good and the service was great. It was, however, very loud in the restaurant.
Food overpriced and just okay. Very , very loud. Husband has hearing aides. Can never go to a venue where tables are close in an open space and there is nothing to buffer loud conversations.
Great for pre-show! Our server was outstanding, she was attentive but not overbearing. The food was good even though we didn't get the tableside guacamole this time.
Had a fun evening with friends.
Food was wonderful.
Mole’s were amazing. Each Mole special in its own way.
Pleasant place to have lunch or dinner with friends when you're in the mood for Mexican food.
The menu had many unique items. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Our server was extremely accommodating. We were a party of 6 and we will definitely return.
I have been going to Mago’s for years. This is the first time the chicken mole was bad. The chicken tasted as if it was leftover.
First time at the Arlington Heights location. Service was slow, server was talking to co-workers most of the time, had to grab his attention a few times. Food was good as usual, nice ambiance.
Great food, knowledgeable wait staff, ample portions.
The ambiance was a little too loud--was hard to talk.
Always good food and relatively quick service. Drinks are strong. Last time they even made an appetizer which was not on the menu, on my request. I like this place.
Good food and service
