The waiter was inattentive, the food was below temperature. The menu changes a few times a year, the last couple of cycles have been uninspiring. Will likely pass on Magnolias for a bit. Will probably try them again in the summer, hopefully they will get their act together.

Went for anniversary. The restaurant and staff could not have been more accommodating. They printed personalized menus welcoming us on our anniversary. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing.

We love Magnolias ambience and the food is always very good. We have dined there at different times of the day and week on at least seven other occasions in the past 12mo and received both great dishes and spectacular service. I was very disappointed for the first time on the service we received, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. The ambience was great as we were seated by the fireplace as requested and they made their special birthday menus. There were other tables with 4-7 in the same area and felt they received way more attention during their dinners. Our waiter only checked on us once during the main course (at the end of our meal) and was more preoccupied with the other tables. We were checked on three different occasions by the managers and I felt too embarrassed to say something to them especially in front of my wife on her birthday. We love Mags food and hope this was only a one time disappointment.

Was very impressed the food was great the only problem was they only had one set menu instead of their daily menu and I would of liked to been able to choose from other entrees instead of being only able to pick from a couple of menu items.

So, we went for Valentines pre-fixed dinner. It was about 60-70 clams per person. I feel the menu changed from the time I made the reservation to the night of. We were seated right on time and the food was really, really good ...although everything came really fast (felt rushed) and the room was so dark we could not read the menu. I have to add the wine and the cocktails were so good. Overall very please and would come back!

We enjoyed a weekday lunch at Magnolia's and were immediately struck by the interesting architecture and ambiance--the building was an old mill, and overhead you can see the old driveshaft and pulleys that would have driven belts to run machinery.
The service was attentive (though not excessively so), prompt, and very friendly.
As an appetizer, we enjoyed baked brie with crackers, smoked ham, almonds, housemade pickles, jam, and dijon spread. I was impressed by the beer and cocktail list, which included locally-brewed and locally-distilled (Catoctin Creek) offerings; we ultimately ordered a tasty Catoctin rye Sazerac and an artisanal draft root beer. Entrees were snazzy Americana: we selected a jambalaya (topped with crispy fried gator!) and French dip. Sadly, we were too full to keep going, or we would have been delighted to give the dessert menu a try!

Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. When I expressed interest in obtaining a recipe for aioli sauce that went with the calamari appetizer, he had the chef list the ingredients. I had the steak, my husband ordered the scallops. We shared with each other; both were delicious. We always enjoy going to Magnolias. We celebrated Valentine's Day early because Ash Wednesday fell on the 14th this year. Probably missed heavier crowds by doing so.

We brunch here often, thisctime tine it was entertaining friends for dinner. Food was a little disappointing, the dessert was awesome, the atmosphere was good..the waitress was very polite and served well. It was an enjoyable wife and I were a little disappointed with the caliber of the food. The Resturant was fully packed,,Always a good sign, the atmosphere was very upbeat. Certainly will be back for Brunch! Dinner .......... maybe.

Magnolias is our go to restaurant to celebrate special occasions. Most recently, we celebrated my mother’s birthday. She was touched that the restaurant created a personalized menu with a happy birthday message for her. We highly recommend the restaurant!
