Service was lacking. Our server had way too many tables to give much attention to anyone.
Our server was outstanding and she had a great sense of humor and the food was super!
We discovered Magnolia's on a weekend we ran away from home. It was recommended at the B&B we stayed in about 2 years ago in Louden county Virginia. The hostesses and wait staff are all happy and friendly.
They sat us 40 minutes past our reservation and the food was not good at all.
We had a birthday dinner for our friend. Great food and service but very loud and a few obnoxious patrons at a nearby table.
We always enjoy dining at Magnolia Mills. If I were to provide any constructive criticism it would be that I wish the entree menu contained just a few more items. We go often, and while there are always good specials, it seems like the menu is somewhat limited. This should not, however, detract from it being a great restaurant.
My burger came back extremely undercooked so we had to send it back. By the time it returned most everyone else was done. Food was pretty good, everything was a bit too spicy for me but the others enjoyed. Drinks were fabulous. Almost 4year old loves it. Super accommodating to the children there.
Food was great, service was good. Prompt service and kind. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the crab dip is a must have.
The best restaurant in Purcellville and environs. Has a great history.....my Rogers relatives owned and operated it as a mill, 75 years ago. Read the history page in the menu. Great food. Marvelous waiter! I returned to the horse farm area of my ROOTS, which began in 1730 there! We live in Md. my relations still live in the Hamilton, Lincoln area, on their horse farms. Love it!
Burger was over cooked. My salad came with fries which were luke warm.
Everything was very nice. The food was tasty, but we didn't see the value in the $28/buffet. (cheese tray, mini muffins, bread pudding, along with hot items, bacon, chicken, sausage, omelet station, etc) Basically, my date and I each had one drink (alcoholic beverages), the buffet and 2 coffees and with a 20% gratuity the bill was $110. Although everything was well prepared and tasty, it was not worth $100 omelets. We'll be back for sure, but probably not for the buffet. Our server was friendly and she gave us our time/space which we appreciated.
Came with my grandson and had a great brunch. The food selection was great and the preparation was outstanding.
We have frequently visited Magnolia's since it first opened. We have seen it rise and fall in both the quality of the food and service. That said, for the past two years we've seen a significant change across the board. A very attentive staff who appear to be really interested in your dining pleasure and experience. The food is, once again, outstanding. Well prepared and just delicious.
It is a pleasure to dine at Magnolia's once again!
Having been to the Mill many times before, I knew it was the perfect place to start our afternoon with friends who were new to the area. The menu had so many options, it was a difficult decision but we were all pleased. The beer menu was great, too, which helped set the tone for our brewery hopping that followed lunch.
I keep coming back, so I must like it. I'm not sure what you are looking for in half of your categories. For example, what makes a wine list "Notable "? What makes a bar scene "vibrant"?
and so on. I'll be back
The building and decor were very inviting and wonderful. The food was delectable and I loved the unique combinations. The food was seasoned well and enlivened the taste buds.
The noise level was a bit loud and we were seated by a noisy group, initially. One of the hostesses re-seated us immediately in a quieter section of the restaurant--I was very grateful and so was my friend.
The waiter was impatient--he acted like he wanted to get us out of there as soon as possible--and didn't make us feel welcome.
Overall a great place to go--I just hope their are other waiters are better.
The waiter was inattentive, the food was below temperature. The menu changes a few times a year, the last couple of cycles have been uninspiring. Will likely pass on Magnolias for a bit. Will probably try them again in the summer, hopefully they will get their act together.
The steak had too much fat and the chimichurri was not very tasty. Service was ok. Not sure if I will come back.
Went for anniversary. The restaurant and staff could not have been more accommodating. They printed personalized menus welcoming us on our anniversary. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing.
Wonderful! The only thing was salads were brought out and then appetizer. Had to take salads back.
We love Magnolias ambience and the food is always very good. We have dined there at different times of the day and week on at least seven other occasions in the past 12mo and received both great dishes and spectacular service. I was very disappointed for the first time on the service we received, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. The ambience was great as we were seated by the fireplace as requested and they made their special birthday menus. There were other tables with 4-7 in the same area and felt they received way more attention during their dinners. Our waiter only checked on us once during the main course (at the end of our meal) and was more preoccupied with the other tables. We were checked on three different occasions by the managers and I felt too embarrassed to say something to them especially in front of my wife on her birthday. We love Mags food and hope this was only a one time disappointment.
Excellent food, service, atmosphere. Most enjoyable.
We had heard good things about this place and we were not disappointed.
Was very impressed the food was great the only problem was they only had one set menu instead of their daily menu and I would of liked to been able to choose from other entrees instead of being only able to pick from a couple of menu items.
So, we went for Valentines pre-fixed dinner. It was about 60-70 clams per person. I feel the menu changed from the time I made the reservation to the night of. We were seated right on time and the food was really, really good ...although everything came really fast (felt rushed) and the room was so dark we could not read the menu. I have to add the wine and the cocktails were so good. Overall very please and would come back!
We enjoyed a weekday lunch at Magnolia's and were immediately struck by the interesting architecture and ambiance--the building was an old mill, and overhead you can see the old driveshaft and pulleys that would have driven belts to run machinery.
The service was attentive (though not excessively so), prompt, and very friendly.
As an appetizer, we enjoyed baked brie with crackers, smoked ham, almonds, housemade pickles, jam, and dijon spread. I was impressed by the beer and cocktail list, which included locally-brewed and locally-distilled (Catoctin Creek) offerings; we ultimately ordered a tasty Catoctin rye Sazerac and an artisanal draft root beer. Entrees were snazzy Americana: we selected a jambalaya (topped with crispy fried gator!) and French dip. Sadly, we were too full to keep going, or we would have been delighted to give the dessert menu a try!
Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. When I expressed interest in obtaining a recipe for aioli sauce that went with the calamari appetizer, he had the chef list the ingredients. I had the steak, my husband ordered the scallops. We shared with each other; both were delicious. We always enjoy going to Magnolias. We celebrated Valentine's Day early because Ash Wednesday fell on the 14th this year. Probably missed heavier crowds by doing so.
Wonderful dining experience. Will definitely be back!!
Awesome as usual!!
Superb as always. Wonderful location, interesting atmosphere, and delicious food. Specialty spirits and hand-craft cocktails are other worldly.
Lovely restaurant, great food and service. Loved it.
Not only the best restaurant in Purcellville, the best dining experience we've had in memory. We've been there twice and both times have been phenomenal. Our third trip will be very soon.
We brunch here often, thisctime tine it was entertaining friends for dinner. Food was a little disappointing, the dessert was awesome, the atmosphere was good..the waitress was very polite and served well. It was an enjoyable evening..my wife and I were a little disappointed with the caliber of the food. The Resturant was fully packed,,Always a good sign, the atmosphere was very upbeat. Certainly will be back for Brunch! Dinner .......... maybe.
Magnolias is our go to restaurant to celebrate special occasions. Most recently, we celebrated my mother’s birthday. She was touched that the restaurant created a personalized menu with a happy birthday message for her. We highly recommend the restaurant!
My wife and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary here. The food was phenomenal, the service was exceptional, and they even personalized our menu for the occasion.
Great meal, great service, great restaurant, priced accordingly.
I'd been here a year or so ago for a great dinner of prime rib. I made a reservation for my girl friends birthday with 2 requests: 1) lower level seating and 2) a dozen carnations be placed on the table. We were seated on the lower level, but there were no carnations. I over heard the staff mention that they had not seen the request, yet nothing was mentioned to me about their over sight. Fortunately my girlfriend had a pleasant time with her family and I didn't make an issue of the carnations. I'd return, but not make a special request as I had for this visit.
Always a good meal here. Service is excellent.
Lovely decor. So many delicious options it was tough to make a selection. We loved what we ordered and we'll be back to try out the other options.
Wow, the food was so fresh and tasty. My son and I both had the chicken fettuccine and the dish was very complex and rustic. YUM! Not only do we have Celiac Disease, which makes it difficult to find a good gluten free option, but recently we've decided to eat cleaner, know where our food source comes from, and this restaurant provided both! You won't be sorry for stopping by, I know we plan to again.
