Magnolias at the mill Ratings and Reviews
What a great experience. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and Magnolias at the Mill made it extremely memorable. They took the time and effort to make a personalized menu for each of us. The food was fantastic and the service was superb. We will definitely be going back and will take our friends with us. If you're in Purcellville VA, this is the place to go for a great dinner.
The food was wonderful and restaurant was gorgeous. Moderately priced for the area I would suggest coming in for a bite to eat. Disappointed in how we were checked into the restaurant. Made a reservation on open table and mentioned that when we walked in but once the phone rang, all multi-tasking capabilities halted. Another older hostess comes over and does not even acknowledge us standing right in front of her and turned to the next group that walked in and seated them, walking around us as we stood there in shock. I guess if I'm not a senior citizen then I must not be serious about dining. The young hostess got off the phone, apologized and we finally settled in after an awkward entrance.
We've been here several times and are always happy to go back. This time, it was a bike ride destination for brunch, then burning off the calories on the ride home. While we didn't exactly fit in wearing our cycling garb, we were not the only ones and nobody seemed to mind. We also think Magnolia's has done a better job of retaining its original character than its sister, Tuscarora Mill. Definitely recommend!
Went for Sunday brunch. Food was good but was a little disappointed at the variety of the brunch buffet. It was very expensive $28 per person for what they were offering. I have had much better (at that price point) brunch buffets. The restuarant atmosphere, quality of the food and service were all very good.
I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my birthday lunch yesterday with three friends. We had Bill for our waiter and he was fabulous and fun. We enjoyed the crab/artichoke dip, French dips were incredible, crab omelette special was lapped up, and fun coffee drinks were enjoyed. I had an amazing 30yr port Bill recommended and it was the best that's ever passed my lips. The ambience was cool and the history of the mill was a great read on the back page of the menu. Wished I lived closer to enjoy this place more often!
Ambiance and food were very good, the lay out of the Mill is perfectly preserved. Lots of authentic details which make it an exciting environment for a meal. Overall, the open kitchen and lay out can be a little noisy and our waitress was professional, but not overly excited.
Would recommend this place.
Very nice place. First time for us for our anniversary. They treat you special if they know your visit is a special occasion. Menu is creative with most of the basics with a different taste. Dry aged filet cooked medium was very dry. Menu said with bearnaise sauce but it came with some kind of glaze. Crab cakes had a good but unusual flavor.
Calamari appetizer was excellent and desert was excellent.
Overall we would go back again. Nice atmosphere and friendly, competent staff.
We love Tuskie's and have been excited about trying its western sister in Purcellville with some friends, ladies of a certain age. We weren't disappointed. Our server, Peter, was a joy, attentive and pleasant. Unable to give the food 5 stars, though, as the beef in the steak salad was chewy and marbled with gristle, and the peach+cherry cobbler was flavorless and overran its serving dish messily. Everything else was wonderful.
Magnolia at the Mill is a lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is great; however, everytime we go for the last few years we leave disappointed. My cocktail at the bar was great. The bartender suggested a drink for me that was a winner. It went downhill from there. The chopped salad we split was very lackluster-not much taste and no color. My husband had a steak. It was quite large but tough and at the price it should have been better. They said it was local beef that was grass fed and corn finished. If so it needed more time to finish! I had the pork two ways. The rolled and stuffed pork was ok but the presentation was sloppy and I felt the cheese on top was an afterthought to cover the presentation. The best thing on the plate was the greens which were stuffed int the pork and had great flavor. It was also stuffed with what we were told was a housemade summer sausage. It had no flavor and there was way too much of it. We are going back for a group event and I we will order Calamari and salads!
