Overall a pleasant experience, but very noisy for a Monday night. Fries and burger were very good, but steak Caesar salad was mediocre at best -- inadequate lettuce, chewy mystery meat.
The staff at Magnolias is wonderful, so attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Our meal was lovely, and we often choose this restaurant for special occasions, even though it is 30 minutes away.
Not our first visit to Magnolia’s…we love it. The mill is historic and warm. What was a surprise and disappointment was the fact that it was buffet only this past Father’s Day. I made my reservation thru Open Table
and no where did I see that the buffet (until 3:00pm) was the only way to dine. So when we showed up early and had a drink at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive…the bartender told us it was buffet
only. And he then asked if we received a call from the restaurant to confirm our reservation...because-he said, that was where they were to tell us about the buffet. We received no call. At 45.00 a person it seemed high
and I think we just were annoyed that we did not have a choice. The rest of our party was gracious and agreed to stay and do the buffet although by the time we were seated for our 2:00 pm reservation the food selection was rather tired looking. It had been sitting in those chafing dishes awhile and just looked old. The wedge salad was gone and I got tired of waiting for the server to bring out another one. The area was cramped and people were all over the place
trying to get food. The small table off to the side with a fish selection and caprese salad was ridiculously picked over.. All in all I was anxious to eat and leave. Plus I had requested the main dining room and we were placed on the porch like area. After one bite of the soggy cannoli we were out of there. I’m sure they did a fantastic business that day...but they should not be proud...I did not enjoy this experience or this meal....it will probably be awhile before we venture
out to the mill anytime soon. I’m licking my wounds…not my fingers.
Father's day was a hit thanks to the delicious brunch! Everyone could eat what they liked and as much as they wanted. We have also gone here for dinner, the food is fabulous!
Great place and nice location. We came on Father's Day so there was a buffet offered. It was nice, nothing too out of the ordinary but good food. They were very busy so service was slow, food ran out, felt rushed. But overall good experience.
We went for the Fathers Day brunch. It was great, huge selections, excellent choices, very tasty and very welcoming service. It was our first time there, the converted Mill was a great venue with different seating areas, including a nice outdoor patio. Highly recommended.
Brunch for Father’s Day and they only have booster seats, no high chairs. The Father’s Day buffet was good, but not as amazing as I might’ve wished for the price. Service was otherwise good!
My family dined here for the Fathers Day Brunch and loved it. Food was awesome and plentiful. Server was friendly and efficient. We don’t come here often, but when we do, we love it. We will return.
Magnolias is our "go to" place for all special occasions. The food and service is always top notch.
Bottom line up front: Server was terrible, food came out wrong (I would have asked for it to be corrected but the server never came around to ask) and since we were outside as soon as the food came there was flies and mosquitos everywhere!!!
Excellent service great food as always.
Waitress was very accommodating to my wife's dietary restriction. Made for an enjoyable experience.
We were early for our brunch reservation but were seated immediately at a table already set up for us. The buffet had a great selection of breakfast and lunch options. We all agreed that the cinnamon buns were our favorite. Overall a great brunch, and we will be back!
We had a lovely time. Loved the location and the food was really good. The service was great. We were celebrating my birthday and they had a menu with my name on it.
We always look forward to dinner at Magnolias when we’re out in Purcellville. If you can’t find a beer or wine that you like — you don’t know beer and wine.
My husband and I enjoyed a nice leisurely brunch tucked away in a corner of the lovely old Mill. They put on an impressive spread for buffet brunch, but you also have the option of ordering off the menu. My husband said his Spicy Bloody Mary was indeed spicy as he likes it and delicious. The server, although she had a couple of big tables after we were settled, managed to get to us in and around taking care of them, which is an impressive feat. Delightful outing with delicious food and drink for another rainy, dreary day.
We enjoy all Malone owned establishment.
Our Sunday brunch was beyond delicious. The variety of food is amazing.
We were staying in Lovettsville for the first time and being unfamiliar with the area asked the innkeeper st Stone Manor to recommend a place to get a good steak. He recommended Magnolias and it did not disappoint! Great filet mignon in a great setting! Delicious!!
Magnolia's has gone upscale, but has retained a down home section in the menu. We went upscale with our choices and it was all great.
Relaxing dining with family - hit all the right notes as there was something on the menu for everyone.
Have been going to Magnolias for years. While the food is great, it is fairly limited to a lot of beef and pork. The do have some fish and chicken but very limited choices and also very limited for vegetarians. Would really like to see them expand there menu for those of us not into eating mammals. There are some amazing farm to table fowl recipes out there.
As usual the service and food here is as you would hope for - on this occasion my wife and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and the Bar manager brought out complimentary celebration drinks - very much appreciated. It's the little things like that, that keep us coming back.
Expected better service and food for the price in this fairly high-end restaurant. My crab and red pepper bisque was bland and lukewarm. The reuben was good, with quality corned beef, but the french fries were soggy. Coupled with somewhat slow service, a very forgettable meal.
The food is always top notch but they sat us in the back indoor terrace and it was not inviting at all.
This was our second time to Magnolia's and have to say that, while we enjoyed the first visit a year ago, we were very disappointed this time. Entrees were very overpriced for the quality and value received. Two of our party of three ordered the sea bass special which was "just ok" -- small portions smothered in too much hollandaise sauce making it difficult to taste the fish. Since these specials were priced at $45 each (!) our meals were beyond disappointing. The other person in our party had the crab cakes which were also "just ok" -- at $32 no less. Interestingly, our waiter never mentioned the sea bass price when running through the specials (and shame on me for not asking - lesson learned). Waiter didn't have a clue about the wine list and so had to go get some help in guiding me to a selection for the table. Service was extremely slow, especially given the early dinner/5 pm time of day.
Food was great. We enjoyed lunch outside on the patio.
Always a great evening at MM. Very rustic but comfortable and aesthetic environment. Appetizers, entrees, dessert, cocktails, apres - well prepared and presented. Attentive and engaging staff - Thanks, Doucette !
Beautifully restored mill converted to a restaurant (clearly!). The ambience is great, waiter was excellent (not too pushy/overbearing), food was plentiful and tasty. What's not to like!
A thank you
We were in town for a wedding and had time to explore. Food was excellent - locally sourced and so fresh. Definitely have their take on the Bloody Mary - pickle infused vodka and their own house pickles plus just the right amount of spice!
I used to live in Reston, but now I live in Winchester. This is a regular meeting place for my Reston friends and me to meet for lunch and catch up. The ambiance is excellent, the food excellent, and the service as well.
This was a lunch with some neighbors, something we do every so often. We had a 1230 reservation because two of our party of 5 had to leave by 200 to pick up a grandson. Service was a little slow, at 125, we still had not been served meaning two of the party had to leave soon. The food was great, ambience fun, but in our case, service could have been a little quicker. No one ordered anything that would have taken time to prepare. Could be a one time thing, and we will return since the food, value and ambiance made it special.
We had dinner here based on a recommendation from a local winery. We were highly impressed and will definitely be back! The food and cocktails were amazing!
We were visiting for the weekend and had a great meal at Magnolias. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night. The service was good and had a great selection of food to choose from! We’ll definitely be back!
Meal was delicious, staff was very helpful with suggestions and service was timely. Would highly recommend.
Each time we come to town we eat here and have never been disappointed. It’s an all around lovely experience and will continue to revisit. The building has interesting architecture, the food is delicious and the service is always friendly and attentive! Highly recommend.
I was really disappointed with the service. It was really slow to start out and then I felt like I was being rushed out the door. Not somewhere I would recommend.
Great food!! We had to wait a little while after ordering our 2nd round of drinks (almost came after we were done eating even though we ordered them well before our food was brought to the table). Overall though it is a great place and food is outstanding!
Nice place, very friendly staff. I will return
Always our favorite stop on our way to our destination in Virginia. This trip we were able to stop again on our way home. The food is always fresh, creative and delicious. Great cocktails and wine be list. Lucy and the rest of the staff are fun and eager to make your experience memorable. We wish we could move the restaurant closer to our home.
