Magleby's Ratings and Reviews
The Prime Rib Dinner is the best we have had in Utah. The service is excellent and the prices are a great. The restaurant is clean and very nicely decorated. You can tell by how everything runs smoothly that they hire the best waiters and waitresses and the finest of cooks! The management and employees work like a well oiled machine. It is nice to be able to be seated as soon as you walk in and be served with such an excellent professional manner.
I commend the managers and staff for a job well done.
Thank you so much. We will be seeing you again soon.
Magleby' was very accommodating when we needed to change our reservations last minute. The snow storm delayed all members of the party the night of our reservations --but a quick call to the pleasant and professional host allowed us to bump the time 30 minutes. The service and the food were great. One member of the party commented that his steak was the best he had ever had. The steaks were cooked to perfection. All in all it was a great evening with business associates.
My pasta had water at the bottom that was soaking the bread, my boyfriends meat was not cooked to how he ordered and was hardly gooked at all. It took almost an hour to even get our food and it was cold. The cheesecake was runny and sour. Would not recomend and will not go back again. Not worth $66.
I went for a homecoming date and they had a special (wasn't all that special) for our group of 12, they gave us salad, dinner, dessert and drinks for 2 also included a tip for 50$. You could pick between three meals (Steak medallions, Salmon, Chicken Pasta) and then the dessert was chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and ice cream. The meal wasn't even worth the 50$ for one I wasn't even hungry for desert after my meal and they gave themselves somewhere around a 25% tip (I would've never paid that much for service because it sucked.) The salad was probably half the size that their normal salads are and the meal tasted like, well nothing really. I got the steak medallions (comes with mashed potatoes and some vegetables) and they hardly seasoned the steak, if at all. The only thing that was good about the steak was that they cooked it almost perfectly, however with no seasoning it tasted like they just plopped a chunk of a cow on my plate. The mashed potatoes were decent, and actually the vegetables were the best part. The desert was decent as well, the raspberry sauce that they were supposed to put on it didn't exist and the cake had way to much sugar in it , all the slices of the cake at our table were un-proportional (my date had a cake slice double the size of mine) and they gave me a half a scoop of ice cream. Everyone who didn't have the steak medallions said they really loved their food and, but everyone who had the steak was really disappointed. I will probably never go to Magleby's again.
We had an overall fantastic experience there. We went in and we told them we hadn't been here before and we were here for our anniversary. They found a fantastic spot to sit us by the waterfall. Super friendly. We had the brie appetizer. It was amazing!!! We both ordered our main course and didn't have to wait too long. The entrees good but not fantastic. They then surprised us by giving us, on the house, a huge slice of cake and ice cream for our anniversary. It was delectable! That was so nice of them. They won us over to try the food again some other time. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
My wife had ordered a creatively prepared filet. We had finished our salads when the wait person came and said our entrees would be delayed because the filet was thick and required more time to cook. When the entrees finally arrived, the filet was if anything on the thin side and was overdone. We ordered dessert and once again waited a long time, noting that several other parties who had arrived about the same had eaten and left while we were still waiting.
It appeared the restaurant didn't have its act together.
We have been visiting Magleby's for over 25 years! I loved working there as a student and although we live over an hour a way, I have brought my family on many different occasions. I do miss seeing Doc's spunky face, and I am glad to see that many aspects of his legacy live on. We have a tradition to dine with you before we take a missionary to the Provo MTC. This past visit was our third missionary and Doc's Wednesday lunch buffet was a huge favorite. Here's to many more years to come. Thank you for Harvey the Carver, the breadsticks, Lanora's famous chocolate cake and of course the buttermilk pie!
Only thing wrong was the food. Very good service, though. Specifally, the garlic mashed was cold, dry, and hard. The salmon was lukewarm and dry. The vegetables were tough and peppery. The salsa was so loaded with raw onions, there was no other flavor. Scooting the chairs makes a racket. I asked for au jus to wet the potatoes and tarter sauce for the salmon, otherwise, there was no finishing it. Very nice server and manager.
The steak was delicious. I ordered a sauce but did not use it because the steak was amazing without it, and the sauce was salty. The waitress removed it from our tab without us asking. The calamari was very good. My wife had a pasta which was also very good. When we went the place was pretty empty, so it was nice and quiet. I think we were the only table our waitress had, but she wasn't over bearing, but still very attentive.
We'll definitely be eating here again.
I was actually a little disappointed with the food. We got the filet mignon and it was ironically tough to eat and the use of white pepper on the vegetables was overwhelming. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and spent over $70 on our meal and not once were we asked about our occasion or congratulated, not to mention, most high end restaurants offer a complimentary dessert for special occasions as well. Our stay left me wanting more, we will not likely be returning.
Great food, waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Our appetizer was lost but we received a comped dessert to make up for it. One request: please remove wine & beer list from your website (or specify if only offered at another location). It's frustrating to look forward to a birthday meal of steak with a glass of Cabernet, only to find there is no longer an alcohol license.
It was the best we have had in a long time the service was great and the food was good. The greeters are very professional and had a smile when we entered the door. The waiteer was every helpful and very friendly. The only only thing we didn't like was where we sat the kitchen help keep almost hiting my wife with there plates when coming up the stairs so if you are seated next to the stairs ask them to move you.
It was a really great meal and experience with a few small exceptions. We were seated at a great table but it was only a few feet from the grand piano player, so we had to speak up quite a bit for conversations.
Two people ordered the Chef's Special New York Strip and both were way over cooked. One ordered rare and received a mod well steak and the other ordered mid rare and received a well done steak.
Other than the big miss on be steak cook everything else was great.
The smell of fresh baked bread was amazing, but the rolls that were served didn't match the first impression. Very slow service; I had to get the attention of the waiter to ask to order. After the great sweet potato fries were served took 25 mins to get entrees. The restaurant was not busy--maybe 6 tables. Food was okay. After another 15 mins. after the table was cleared, had to walk over and ask for the check. Must have been having a bad night. Read many very good reviews on open table and yelp. Our party of 5 all agreed that it didn't live up to the reviews.
