About Magic Flute
One of San Francisco’s most romantic restaurants, the Magic Flute, has a new and exciting menu reflecting California-Italian Cuisine. Located in fashionable Presidio Heights, the restaurant with sponge-painted walls and hardwood floors is reminiscent of a family-run trattoria found in a small Tuscan village. Sunlight streams in through large picture windows in the front dining room, and after dark, Florentine wrought-iron chandeliers, imported from Europe, infuse the room with soft light. The equally beautiful rear dining room looks onto a lovely, flower-filled patio with white Italian marble tables and large Italian market umbrellas that make the heated patio the ideal spot for al fresco dining. Phil LaCavera sees to it that service is personal and attentive. The staff also takes great pride in making each party and wedding a memorable occasion. You won’t find a more enchanting ambiance for your special celebration.

Magic Flute Ratings and Reviews
This is a very consistently good restaurant. Phil greets you. Staff are knowledgeable & pleasant.
Food is as described & very good.
You are not rushed & staff are attentive without hovering.
I've been going with friends for years & will continue to do so.
Remember to leave time for finding a parking space .
Overall it was a pleasant meal experience. However, we were celebrating a birthday and at one point the waiter brought out a dessert platter and since we couldn’t tell from far away we thought he was bringing out a classic free birthday dessert so we started singing instinctively. When it turned out to be a dessert platter of desserts we had to pay for it was just so awkward and uncomfortable we bought one even though we didn’t want to since it was brunch and dessert was by no means necessary. It made for a very awkward rest of the meal.
Best kept brunch secret in the Bay Area, and if in didn't like the owner so much I'd keep it that way. The ingredients are always fresh, the service is fast, and the flavors are well balanced. The mimosas are excellent, though priced like a regular glass of wine.
Magic Flute never disappoints but for this dinner party they hit it out of the park....
especially in service. We had our toddler grandson with us to celebrate his grandfather’s
birthday knowing the potential challenges this could present.
The wait staff could not have been more gracious and accommodating, insuring we all
enjoyed a delightful dinner....including our toddler.
BTW. Our toddler has been dining at the Magic Flute since he was one month old and
while the restaurant’s ambience is sophisticated, we’ve always been made to feel welcome
with our little one and enjoyed our visits.
...and, oh yes...the food is excellent, too!
We had our children with us, and though it had been touted as a family friendly place, it felt less so on a Friday night. We did go early, and it seemed more amenable earlier. As the evening turned into the 7 pm hour, I began to get the impression our family was not as welcome. Maybe we should stick to lunchtime.
We arrived on Monday for lunch. It was unfortunate that N. California having very bad fires.
The air quality was not good and SF was receiving ash all over the city.
The wait team was gracious and provided the option to sit inside vs. outside. We opted to sit outside, as it is a very quaint area. They assisted to make sure the table etc., was clean.
Natalie served us. She was very kind and attentive despite clearly the air quality did not
agree with her. The food and presentation is cozy and very reflective of SF. I would highly recommend it.
This is one of the best brunch spots we've been. Very personable host, and the food is delicious. We highly recommend you start with beignets, and then complement it with something savory from the brunch menu. Service is attentive, and brunch cocktails are available. We look forward to visiting whenever we are in town.
The Magic Flute is a great restaurant! We've been coming to The Magic Flute for over 35 years. The food, ambiance and service is excellent. The owner and staff are always welcoming. It's great for all occasions from a romantic dinner or a company party or bridal / baby shower.
This was a great place to celebrate my mom's birthday. The food was good and our waitress was very attentive. I think the kitchen may have forgotten our order though-it took a very long time to get our food! Overall, it was a fun night at The Magic Flute!
My partner and I took his step mom who is in from out of town. First time for all of us. It was a perfect spot for our casual chatty get together. Staff was friendly and professional; the owner was friendly an ever so charmingly flirty with mom. Our food was very good. We agreed that the chicken Marsala was outstanding as was the risotto but we all enjoyed all our dishes. Lovely casual quaint atmosphere. I hope to get back soon!
The Magic Flute is the best brunch restaurant in San Francisco as far as we are concerned. It has just the right balance of breakfast entrees (the chorizo scramble was excellent) and lunch entrees (the grilled chicken sandwich and the caprese salad were both great). The owner is very hands on, stopping by each table to say hello and make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. We can't wait to go back!
