The Irish pub food is great. I had the beef and mushroom pie. Delicious. Good beer selection. Greatest ice. Nothing but good.
I went here based on reviews, however, I did not think it was anything special. My friend and I each had a spicy Moscow Mule, she had a burger and I had a crab cake sandwich. No coffee, no dessert, with tax and tip it cost us $80 - that was a bit expensive for what we had. Granted the drinks were $14 each - no lunchtime specials here. No better or worse than any of the other Irish pubs around here.
Maggie's Place was fantastic as always. You can never go wrong here.
Maggie's Place is my company's go-to for new colleague welcome lunches. Superb food and prompt, attentive service at busy lunch hours. Something for everybody on the menu. A++
Usually go for lunch but went for dinner for the first time in a long time Thursday night. The noise level was extreme. The staff was great, they moved us from a table in the middle of the upstairs room to a table near the front in a less crowded area, but even the people there were yelling at each other to be heard over the din (assisted, no doubt, by cocktail amplifiers). I felt bad for the excellent staff people, they must develop hearing problems after a while. Still great food and service.
First visit to NY and Maggie's was our first meal ,great food ribs to die for and my wife's salmon burger a must would recommend without fail Thanks.
Food and service was ok
Go upstairs for a quieter more private dining experience
Great Midtown restaurant. Always good food, good service and you can get in and out in an hour if you want to.
Quick in and out, great service, great food.
Best Irish comfort food around.
This is a favorite place for a friend and I to meet for a quiet dinner where they allow you to sit and eat. If you eat on the upstairs landing, it is quiet. The food is varied and really tasty and of good value. I recommend it.
I have been going to this place for years and it has always been good. Great food, service and atmosphere.
The food here is always spot-in (no matter what you order). The staff is extremely friendly and on top of their game. My only (slight) issue is that their soda tap needs to be cleaned more often - when you order a soda, 9-% of the time it as a metallic taste and is a bit flat - but believe me, water is healthier and I don't go there for the soda - I go for the wonderful food and ambiance. I highly recommend this place.
The Shepard’s pie was really good and so was the chicken Pot pie. The service was not the greatest.
The chicken pot pie was awful. But otherwise everything else was as expected.
Maggie’s was perfect! Delicious food great service!
Friendly staff, good pub food, nicely decorated for the holiday season.
Excellent place, great staff, very cozy, my only negative is it took way too long for the check to come, almost 25 minutes. Other than that perfect palce
Nice place—glad we found it!
My favorite place
The food and staff was fabulous! The only problem we had was, NO elevator or option for my friends daughter who is in a wheel chair.
Great local pub. Good food and good service. Good for business as well as social.
This was our first visit to Maggie's and we won't hesitate to go back. Sitting between Madison Ave and 5th, it's about a half mile walk from Times Square, so not bad if you're going to a show. The menu features Pub fare, with an Irish slant. My wife enjoyed Bangers and Mash while I had the Fish 'n' Chips with Maggie's own hand-cut fries. Ciara took good care of us. Considering it was Saturday night on Veteran's day weekend, she was the only waitress working the floor. But no problem. The bar was pretty much filled upon our arrival, but we were surprised that the noise level was not what you would expect from a Pub. We're not sure if that was unusual or the norm, but whatever the case, it was a welcome surprise. Beverage choices were numerous, with a number of beers on tap or by the bottle. There were also a decent number of wine selections. There were a number of appetizer selections, but we didn't partake as we were having an early meal after having a mid-afternoon snack. Have to admit, the Uber Pretzel looked interesting! Next time! We'll be back.
The server was sweet. She got my order wrong but fixed it right away. If you go on Thursday get the daily special of the braised ribs and whipped mashed potatoes. Also the lamb burger was delicious.
We stopped here for a couple of drinks and food before the theater. Great location in between Grand Central Station and theater district. Wait staff very friendly and the food was very good. I had the lamb stew. Tasted like home made.
I know it's lunch but what is the RUSH? Always feels like they're trying to shove you out the door - and yes, I get that it's lunch but it's annoying
I also was here for 20 minutes while my BUSINESS dining companion was at another table - and I made a res through open table. When I asked the waitress to check, she saw him down at a table on the same side and grabbed my stuff. I told her I'd been waiting and I was annoyed, and believe me it takes a lot to get annoyed - I've worked in restaurants. I could get over the screwup but what really annoyed me was the lack of apology - she could just have said "sorry about that" - especially after I pointed out that I'd been there for 20 minutes and he was as well...so when I sat down again I said "no apology?" and she snapped "I told you I'd be looking into it" . No, you didn't. I know this isn't a 4 start restaurant but come on, basic service is to apologize for a screw up and not to be rude when I call you out on it
We enjoyed a pre theater dinner in the upstairs dining room. Although we arrived early, we were graciously seated. The upstairs dining room is warm and welcoming; reminiscent of the pubs in Ireland. Our servers, from Ireland, were friendly and professional. The Avocado Toast appetizer is delicious. The Rigatoni with Braised shortrib was outstanding. The short rib pieces melt in your mouth. The parmesan encrusted salmon was cooked to perfection and delicious. Chocolate cake with Irish Coffee was the perfect ending to a delicious, enjoyable dinner.
I ate here two days in a row. Making a good first impression were the Jonah Crab Cake appetizer and the Lamb Stew main course. I went back the next day and had the Shepard Pie with cheese. To me, it was good but not as good as the Lamb Stew. On Thursdays the special of the day is Short Ribs, I have to try that.
Food and service was very good. The windows were open and it was quite noisy
Good local standby, never a bad lunch. Always vibrant, wait staff is great, some day I'll stop ordering the Poblano Turkey Burger with avocado, but probably not soon.
The chicken salad bowl was not good. There was very little chicken in the salad and the chicken that was in the meal was all dark meat - looked like the pieces from a rotisserie chicken - not grilled.
My entree was extremely dry. They removed the item from my bill but I was disappointed in lunch.
We found this place by Googling restaurants near our hotel. A quick walk and we were there. You can't go wrong with a traditional pub. The food was great and the service was too.
Food still good after all the years it has been open. It's a nice go-to place.
Loved the confirmation text the day before the reservation to let the restaurant know if you still wanted the table. :)
The food and service was good. There was a lot of choices to choose from. Food came out hot and fast and was huge portions we could only eat half of what we ordered
Great midtown location for a lunch catch up. Friendly service and nice range on the menu.
Needed a nice casual place for a lunch for three long time college friends---the mid-town location worked for all. We spent over two hours there!!!!!! + our waitress was very patient + understood we were there for the "long haul" !!!
So a nice leisurely lunch + drinks was most enjoyed.
+ I would highly recommend the Bangers + Mash !!! WOW-- a special meal !!!!!!
Always a reliably good experience at Maggie’s. Food is high quality, beer is cold, and service is top notch
