Nice place—glad we found it!
My favorite place
The food and staff was fabulous! The only problem we had was, NO elevator or option for my friends daughter who is in a wheel chair.
Great local pub. Good food and good service. Good for business as well as social.
This was our first visit to Maggie's and we won't hesitate to go back. Sitting between Madison Ave and 5th, it's about a half mile walk from Times Square, so not bad if you're going to a show. The menu features Pub fare, with an Irish slant. My wife enjoyed Bangers and Mash while I had the Fish 'n' Chips with Maggie's own hand-cut fries. Ciara took good care of us. Considering it was Saturday night on Veteran's day weekend, she was the only waitress working the floor. But no problem. The bar was pretty much filled upon our arrival, but we were surprised that the noise level was not what you would expect from a Pub. We're not sure if that was unusual or the norm, but whatever the case, it was a welcome surprise. Beverage choices were numerous, with a number of beers on tap or by the bottle. There were also a decent number of wine selections. There were a number of appetizer selections, but we didn't partake as we were having an early meal after having a mid-afternoon snack. Have to admit, the Uber Pretzel looked interesting! Next time! We'll be back.
The server was sweet. She got my order wrong but fixed it right away. If you go on Thursday get the daily special of the braised ribs and whipped mashed potatoes. Also the lamb burger was delicious.
We stopped here for a couple of drinks and food before the theater. Great location in between Grand Central Station and theater district. Wait staff very friendly and the food was very good. I had the lamb stew. Tasted like home made.
I know it's lunch but what is the RUSH? Always feels like they're trying to shove you out the door - and yes, I get that it's lunch but it's annoying
I also was here for 20 minutes while my BUSINESS dining companion was at another table - and I made a res through open table. When I asked the waitress to check, she saw him down at a table on the same side and grabbed my stuff. I told her I'd been waiting and I was annoyed, and believe me it takes a lot to get annoyed - I've worked in restaurants. I could get over the screwup but what really annoyed me was the lack of apology - she could just have said "sorry about that" - especially after I pointed out that I'd been there for 20 minutes and he was as well...so when I sat down again I said "no apology?" and she snapped "I told you I'd be looking into it" . No, you didn't. I know this isn't a 4 start restaurant but come on, basic service is to apologize for a screw up and not to be rude when I call you out on it
We enjoyed a pre theater dinner in the upstairs dining room. Although we arrived early, we were graciously seated. The upstairs dining room is warm and welcoming; reminiscent of the pubs in Ireland. Our servers, from Ireland, were friendly and professional. The Avocado Toast appetizer is delicious. The Rigatoni with Braised shortrib was outstanding. The short rib pieces melt in your mouth. The parmesan encrusted salmon was cooked to perfection and delicious. Chocolate cake with Irish Coffee was the perfect ending to a delicious, enjoyable dinner.
I ate here two days in a row. Making a good first impression were the Jonah Crab Cake appetizer and the Lamb Stew main course. I went back the next day and had the Shepard Pie with cheese. To me, it was good but not as good as the Lamb Stew. On Thursdays the special of the day is Short Ribs, I have to try that.
Food and service was very good. The windows were open and it was quite noisy
Good local standby, never a bad lunch. Always vibrant, wait staff is great, some day I'll stop ordering the Poblano Turkey Burger with avocado, but probably not soon.
The chicken salad bowl was not good. There was very little chicken in the salad and the chicken that was in the meal was all dark meat - looked like the pieces from a rotisserie chicken - not grilled.
My entree was extremely dry. They removed the item from my bill but I was disappointed in lunch.
We found this place by Googling restaurants near our hotel. A quick walk and we were there. You can't go wrong with a traditional pub. The food was great and the service was too.
Food still good after all the years it has been open. It's a nice go-to place.
Loved the confirmation text the day before the reservation to let the restaurant know if you still wanted the table. :)
The food and service was good. There was a lot of choices to choose from. Food came out hot and fast and was huge portions we could only eat half of what we ordered
Great midtown location for a lunch catch up. Friendly service and nice range on the menu.
Needed a nice casual place for a lunch for three long time college friends---the mid-town location worked for all. We spent over two hours there!!!!!! + our waitress was very patient + understood we were there for the "long haul" !!!
So a nice leisurely lunch + drinks was most enjoyed.
+ I would highly recommend the Bangers + Mash !!! WOW-- a special meal !!!!!!
Always a reliably good experience at Maggie’s. Food is high quality, beer is cold, and service is top notch
Very good service!
Reasonably priced and well prepared — delicious!
Service was great! Fish in Fish n Chips was tough :(
My friends & I came here for dinner because we're familiar with Maggie's which is centrally located, for after work & transportation home later. It's a slightly-upscale Irish pub with finer-prepared dishes. We were seated in the upstairs dining room. (The bustling 1st floor bar area was packed with after-work office workers.) We had beef burgers which are always prepared perfectly; and two of us enjoyed the salmon dish. The prosecco was good. Waitresses were attentive. They turned on the ac when I complained that it was warm. Highly recommend for consistent good food & service throughout the years TBH.
I can't believe you would add insult to injury by asking for a review... I made this reservation through Open Table almost a month ago and the day before our reservation Maggie's Place called and left a message on my phone after I confirmed via someone's phone text service, that our reservation was cancelled because they had a "private event". Needless to say I will not be using Open Table or Maggie's Place ever again. Clearly a larger group that they could get more money from wanted the space, a private event is not put together in 24 hours, we were tossed aside scrambling to find another venue. Neither of you care about your patrons just your "bottom line" I have saved the voicemail and will be reporting you both to the Better Business Bureau and adding a review to Yelp!
Best turkey club in town.
Great table upstairs. Perfect to be able to hear people talk without too much strain. Service was a little spotty but overall good.
I go there about 10 times a year and am never disappointed. It is very consistent.
The food is good and the service is prompt and friendly. The menu allows for several choices.
Very nice place with good grub and a great staff. Definitely someplace to grab lunch, a drink or dinner
Went to have the famous New York steak dinner advertised. Both steaks were cooked very poorly asked med and med well. One came rare and had to be sent back and the other was well done!
Won’t not recommend this place to anyone unless you want a pint of beer and chips!
Very disappointed and the service- well unfortunately you could tell she didn’t really like her job waitressing!
Maggie’s was great but they did not have my reservation. I showed them my app and they showed me theirs, I had a reservation they did not. They found a way to accommodate us anyway but this glitch needs to be addressed.
Nice Irish pub for a quick go-to lunch and we've eaten many a nice meal here over the years. Glad it's now on Open Table. It's much quieter on a Saturday than weekdays, which is handy to know. Service we've experienced has always been friendly, with no issues. Enjoyed the Lamb, Spinach & Feta Burger last time with Tzatziki. Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash are nice too, but quite large portions! I like the crab cakes here as well. It's always been my favourite Irish Pub for eating at, of the ones I've tried in the city. Prices are fairly ok, won't break the bank and good value. Atmosphere and decor nice and you can hear yourself speak! Will definitely be back again ...
Randomly picked this place for dinner while visiting NYC. The “train wreck fries” were amazing (just ignore the calories!). I had a crab cake for dinner and my fiancé had the smoke house burger. Both were okay. Service was slow but I’m beginning to consider that normal in this city.
I read reviews online and choose this restaurant. It gets an A+ from me. My family enjoyed it.
Been here 3-4 times now and the food and atmosphere are great. Go to spot for us!
Perfect dinner for a family and friends dinner. Attentive and friendly service. Relaxed atmosphere
Meet a friend for lunch. Place was swarmed. Poor waitress was very busy. Food was fine but nothing special.
Nice, friendly, cozy environment. Very high noise level, though. Great burgers. Convenient mid-town location.
