Maggiano's - Tyson's Corner Ratings and Reviews
The resturant was very crowded, which is not a bad thing, but my server seemed to have trouble getting to our table. He was often talking to us at odd angles where we had to turn around to converse with him Part of this was just his rudeness as well. I went here becasue I was craving the manicotti, it was all very good food and huge portions. My husband had one of the pasta specials and was given a full extra portion to take home for the next day. We will go again when in the area.
We have been to the Maggiano's in Tyson's Corner many times. Unfortunately, the menu over the years has been streamlined and many of the original star quality dishes have been eliminated (such as the chicken and asparagus bowl). We prefer eating on the patio outside because the noise level in the restaurant is too loud to encourage quiet conversations. Overall, however, it is an enjoyable dining experience.
The dinner reservation was very last minute but turned out to be a better than expected evening. Food was great, prices were reasonable for Tyson's Corner, and service was excellently timed. The atmosphere was buzzing all night and even as the night drew on, the atmosphere remained active.
Maggiano's is one of my favorite restaurants. I recently had a birthday dinner there with some friends and was even more impressed by the service. The first two of us to arrive were seated in a booth for six (the number we were expecting), but we soon found out that the others were running late for various reasons. The staff happily moved us to a smaller booth, and when that proved too small later in the evening, added an extra chair. People were ordering dinner in phases as they arrived, right up until 15 minutes before the kitchen closed, and our waitress, Jennifer, was wonderful about it all! The food and the value, as always, were outstanding, and as the birthday girl, I received a free slice of cheesecake and glass of champagne. Love!
I was in from out of town to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I arrived at the restaurant early to make sure we would have a birthday surprise dessert delivered by our waitstaff. The hostess took my order and assured me it would be taken care of.......sadly, it did not get communicated. I was very disappointed, as were my daughter's younger brothers. They so looked forward to her having birthday candles to blow out.
The service was exceptionally small and even though we made a reservation and were there for a special occasion, we were crammed into a small space. This did not work well since we had an infant who could tug on dining utensils and the people behind us. It was also hard to get him to sit still after being there for over an hour.
Everything was great. The Family Dinner plan was excellent and made for a fun group experience. Way too much food though so recommend adding a category between light and classic. Our waitress (Tonya) was superb, very knowledgeable and had excellent recomendations. She always kept the waterglasses full and checked on us regularly. Desserts were out of this world. My guests and I are still talking about this great dining experience.
Good price for ok food in abundance. The restaurant is VERY loud, and service leaves much to be desired. We had to wait quite a while despite having a reservation. And our first order from the bar took over 20 minutes. Our drinks were not attended to the rest of the evening either. I want to blame it on being with a larger group, but this place shouldn't have a problem with 9 people. After all, they specialize in family style dining. It's really just ok - fun to do with a group but wouldn't recommend it for the food, service, or ambiance.
This was my wifes birthday and we wanted go to a place we had been and had enjoyed, this turned out to be a wrong choice this time. Food and service were below par. We have dined here before and the food and service was much much better. Was seated next to large group and our waiter was more concerned over their service than ours. Had to request things that should have been provided. I have also eaten at the one in Richmond and consider it a high cut above this one in taste of food, amount of food and service. we were very unsatisfied, and have a lot of other places to dine in DC and most likely will go to one of them.
My boyfriend and I went here to have dinner in celebration for our 3 years and 4 months together. Though we are not used to places like Maggiano's, this was a very good experience for the both of us. Though it was too loud to the point where I would have to yell for my boyfriend to hear what I wanted to say to him, it was a positive experience nonetheless.
Another thing I'd like to say, thank you for the complementary dessert in recognition of our special day.
We always enjoy Maggiano's, especially the family style meals. The food is of good quality and served in abundant amounts. We enjoy the mozarella frite, calamari, ceasar salad, chopped salad, lasagne, spaghetti with sausage, shrimp scampi, chicken or veal parmegan, profiletares, cheesecake and tiramisu. There has been some tweaking of the menu since our last visit and we were disappointed in the changes to the shrimp scampi dish, one of my husband's favorites. All in all, Maggiano's is a good choice for families and groups.
The food was great, but the service was only so-so. I'm not sure how much that had to do with the fact that it was busy, loud, and our waiter was juggling a few tables. We were only a party of two and Maggiano's tends to cater to larger group meals, so we may have just been lost in the shuffle. The food more than made up for it, though! I would definitely return, but with a larger group to fully enjoy the restaurant's intended experience.
My experience at Maggiano's is always wonderful. The food was super, our server was attentive and we truly enjoyed my friend's birthday lunch. The hostess, however, was not on her game. I arrived early and was seated before my friend, which the hostess said she would bring to me when she arrived. My friend actually ended up waiting 20 minutes before she was seated as the hostess did not ask who she was waiting for. The hostess is the first person you encounter at this restaurant, and this one was less that what I've come to expect at Maggianos.
Both of our pasta were too salty for my taste manicotti was little better than lobster pasta.I'll never order coffee again..I do not like warm coffee with coffee grounds didn't have good flavor.Waiter we had Adam wa the worst waiter! We had to ask for water, bread coffee..my friend actually had to get up and go get him for refill! Bad service!
Cheese cake and tiramisu were good...Apple costada was not good at all.
We had wait forever for the check too..snail slow waiter.I shouldn't have to stay on him to get service.
We visit Maggiano's several times a year (and we don't usually eat at the same place again and again as a rule). The portions are huge and there's a good selection to choose from. We usually save Maggiano's for a special occasion because it costs us more than an average restaurant. That being said, if you've never been, the portions really are huge. You can share everything. Should you be able to agree on one entree you can have a nice date night for a lot less. You can also have a great splurge and eat on left overs for days if that's your preference (and I love getting to have my favorite pasta for days after).
I decided to take my wife to Maggiano's for our wedding anniversary, and while we had high expectations, they were completely met and exceeded. The server was extremely engaging and thoughtful. The portions were immense, which was great, because the food itself was some of the best Italian fare we've ever had, and we're still enjoying it 2 days later. The appetizer platter was amazing - the only drawback was that there was SO much of it, we were only able to eat half of our entrees, which were delicious. The ambience was perfect. I would most definite recommend Maggiano's for both special occasions and for dining out as a group.
The food here is absolutely delicious. I had my rehearsal dinner here. The only complaint is the food quantity is enormous. The serving sizes need to be scaled down. I got the chicken parm (no option for a "half" size) and I was served three chicken breasts. Three??? That is three meals, not one. I brought the other 2 chicken patties home with me, but heating up the next day does not taste as yummy as it does at the resturant. Please, for the sake of America's waistlines, scale down the portion sizes. Most people do not have the control that I do when it comes to knowing how much you should eat. Your food is delicious, but I won't be back unless for an extremely special occassion because the portion sizes are ridiculous.
terrible service. waiter never came back to refill drinks and it took over an hour to get our food. the food was also bad and they forgot some people's orders and had to make them wait another 20 minutes. some people didn't even get what they ordered. our waiter wasn't helpful at all and never attended our table. also, the check took another hour to come out and figure out. what made it worse was that i had a party of 8 so i had to pay the 18% gratuity to this worthless waiter.
We love Maggiano's! We went for the first time last October to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. The Classic family style menu is great....the food is so good and you can get such a variety, it is sure to please everyone. So my husband wanted to go back to celebrate his 60th birthday. We all had a great time. I like that the food is really good, but it isn't too "fancy". You can dress casual if you want to.
The food was exceptional as usual however our service was less than satisfying. We went to dinner for our two year anniversary and were expecting phenomenal service. I waiter acted as if we were of no importance perhaps it was because we are a bit on the younger side and he was expecting us to be poor tippers or something but little did he know we both have worked in a restaurant and never tip less than 20%. Rather than asking if we wanted bottled water he assumed that we didn't and just poured regualr tap water but had he asked we would of preferred bottled water. He was waiting on other tables in the correct manor asking how everything was and being very attentive. Thiswas the 1st time we have had poor service so we will come back.
We have been patrons of the Maggiano's chain for some time, ususally dining at the Friendship Heights location. This was our first experience at the Tyson's location. Overall, it's a great place to go, but there have been consistent problems with servers who sometimes seem to be on another planet. They are not unpleasant, but there have been numerous communication issues.
