Maggiano's - Troy Ratings and Reviews
Food was good although where we were seated wasn't comfortable at all, the table was not very sturdy. We were seated right by the kitchen door by an isle way. We asked to get moved somewhere else and they told us it would be an hour wait even though we had reservations. Probably won't go back for a while.
We had a lovely time Monday night with friends...celebrating our friendship and Christmas Mary Grace was our server and she was wonderful attentive to our needs and any concerns...It was really nice to have the valet brushing off all the snow when we left the restaurant...Just one of those perks...and I love using open table...the best way to make reservations
Service was slow. My wife ordered veal marsala and received chicken marsala. (cost of the dish was taken off the bill). Ordered a sausage flatbread appetizer, waited thirty minutes, and received a sausage and pepper appetizer. We were so hungry that we chose not to send it back. Tables were too close. Our table was frequently bumped by servers. On one occasion our glasses of wine nearly tipped over.
We dined here for our holiday meeting with our son and Grandson, who failed to show up. Our server was very kind to wait for us to order while we waited. When we found out we wouldn't have anyone joining us we ordered our brunch meals which were great! We both had the Crab cake Benedict, and my husband added the side of bacon. When the bacon arrived he was surprised that it was just two slices for $6.00. He did enjoy it very much though. Also, when we arrived the host wanted to seat us at a table along the aisle, and I asked if we could get seated in a banquette. He was quick to accommodate us after having one cleaned off in which the prior patrons had just left. While we waited we had adult beverages ordered at the bar, and the bartender was also very congenial. This was not our first visit to this Maggiano's, and it won't be our last!
Four of us decided to have dinner at Maggiano's following a cocktail party. We had 9:30 reservations on a Friday night and were seated promptly. Our waiter was very attentive, despite the many folks dining in his area of the restaurant. The food was delicious and plentiful. One of the friends sent a text yesterday to ask if we could meet at Maggiano's for dinner again very soon!
We went for my friends birthday dinner. It is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. All the workers are super nice. I go there all the time so I know when they have new staff & they recently hired a super cute Mexican server & his smile made me want to come back again real soon 😅. We had lots of fun. She enjoyed her night. We love love love the food! Italian food is the best. Oh & their dessert is just to die for.
It was mother’s bday so I wanted to take her to a nice authentic Italian restaurant. What was nice about Maggianos was how the chef came out and introduced himself to every table. It showed true value for the customers and created a sense of comfortbility. I also enjoyed the food. It wasn’t the best I’ve tasted by far but it was filling and great for the price. I would recommend this place for a large group outing or special occasion with the family. However if your looking for great outstanding food this place isn’t it. The food is subpar at best and looked like it was cooked way ahead and reheated. I’ve had better fettuccini from the frozen isle at krogers. Also the table clothes were notecibly dirty as well as the waitstaffs clothes. Gigi’s butter cake was very delicious however and this is coming from a non cake eater. Overall I’ll give this place a 6 out of 10.
Tried it again after not being there for quite a while. My opinion has not changed. Since being bought out by Chili's several years ago the food is equal to any fast food restaurant. There big promo of buying a meal and taking one home is a joke. I had Lasagna at $16.00 which was an average size piece and you got a meal to take home. Big deal. For $16.00 you are really paying for both meals. No salad or soup came with it. I added a salad and that was another $6.50 which is a joke. Would not go back and would not recommend it to anyone. By the way it is 5 minutes from my home and the place is always packed and I truly don't understand why.
We have been to Maggianos before and for the most part there were no issues. This time (12-5-17) things happened that shouldn't have happened at this type of restaurant. The main courses were brought out too soon after the salads. To top it off one of the pasta dishes had meat sauce instead of marinara, which took time for the waiter to appear and replace. (They use runners to bring your food from the kitchen) We had ordered the Marcos Meal for Two, which involves receiving two pasta entrees to take home. We left with bags of left overs (and we thought) two entrees fro home. Arriving home there was only one entrée. We phoned and spoke to a manager (Dave) who apologized and told us to come to the take out door and he'd have one ready. We live less than 10 minutes away so this wasn't too much of an issue. I picked it up at the take out door and took it home. They had generously enclosed a $10 off coupon which I thought was nice until I read the expiration date of 12-8-17. It's a little disingenuous to think we'd go back in the next two days.
In summary, the food (when it was corrected) was good the service was average (it's been better in the past) and while they did give us the pasta they owed us with no issues, the coupon was a joke. We'll see how they do when we try them again.
I have eaten at Maggiano’s in Chicago many times and also have been to the Orlando location. Excellent food.
This visit in Troy was quite a surprise. Service was great. The food was not good. The chopped salad tasted as though someone had spilled water in it. Horrible. I had Veal Picatta, it was gray and the veal was very tough. We had the zucchini as a starter, that was quite good. We also split a pumpkin cheese cake, it wasn’t bad. We always visit Maggiano’s in Chicago. I would not visit the Troy Maggiano’s again.
Thanksgiving set menu. Say in a banquet hall room. Took 2.5 hours to get food. Food finally came, and was cold. Eating with small children. Asked repeatedly for status and got the runaround. Tables around us were cleaned as we ate. It seemed like they’re were going to come vacuum under our feet at any time. Multiple tables were clearly upset around us. General manager offered gift cards to come back as compensation for the issue. Should have taken care of the bill. We normally love Maggiano’s but this was a terrible experience. $300 meal, and not enjoyable for anyone, including the few first timers to Maggiano’s in our group.
This thanksgiving meal is by far the WORST experience I’ve had anywhere in years. Let me make it clear, I’m a top 1% open table user, and my family dines out almost 6 days a week, so when I say it’s bad, it’s fair and for real.
I go to this particular Maggiano’s on a regular basis, and for the most part it’s a very good restaurant. However tonight was a disaster. First they were way under staffed, and the waiter we had was very inexperienced. Our food took forever to come out and when it finally came it was almost COLD. My waiter blamed kitchen, I am not sure who to blame. There were ONLY three main course to choose from, and each table gets two of the three, How could it be that difficult if planned properly. When my waiter offered to take it back I said no, because we were so hungry at that point. It was a solid 45 mins wait before the main course came after the salad. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it after another 45 mins wait. So I ate almost cold turkey and cold corn. Not to mention we didn’t get our napkin until we almost finished our meal. (We asked several times for each drink item we ordered, among other things like refill, napkin etc., to the point we attempted to get it from other staff in the hall)
Then it came the bill, it was wrong and I told the waiter and she went to talk to the manager and came back still wrong. It was $39.95 per adult for 5 adults and $17.95 per child for 3 children and $7.50 drink. The total should be $261.10 plus tax. I told the waiter once and when she comes back the second time still wrong I ran out of energy to go down the road of elementary math at 9:30pm at that point. I over paid several dollar just so I can get going.
I left 15% tip not because I was happy about any above experience I had tonight, it was because I felt bad for my waiter to keep apologizing to us. I don’t want anyone’s apology I just want a good experience!!!! Especially on thanksgiving night where you take friends and family with you.
While the food was great, the service we experienced was atrocious. It took us three hours for our meal to come to a close. Our entrees took over an hour to come out after appetizers. We had a group of seven so we ordered from the family menu because we were told that would be easiest for us and for the restaurant. Apparently that was not true. In the end I would recommend Maggiano’s for good food, but not this location’s service.
