Maggiano's - South Coast Plaza Ratings and Reviews
Started off with no toilet paper in multiple restroom stalls. Water glass was often left empty with no one other than our main server checking in with us. Dinner food was average. I recall the quality being more memorable than tonight’s visit. The warm apple crostada was cold (waited 20 minutes). When we were brought another one they stated they ran it through the warmer twice. Never apologized or compt us for the mistake. Very disappointed in service and standards.
We were two little old ladies out to see the ballet across the street. Our orders were small (salad for me and soup for my friend), not likely to yield a good tip and we stayed for a long time talking. However we were treated attentively with grace and friendliness by the wait staff and not rushed to leave. When there was a delay they kept us up to date with the order. I hope the 200% plus tip left let them know how much a couple of seniors appreciated being treated like valued customers. Thank you Maggiano's for hiring such wonderful wait staff. As an aside, the food was excellent, but I've had dining experiences ruined by rude staff before, and these people went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
We dined here pre-theatre. The wine and food were excellent (I'm used to NYC Italian and this very favorably compares). We told the waiter that we had a 7:30 curtain time and he had drinks, food, and dessert on time and without feeling rushed. He was fabulous.
I will return often when going to the theatre.
Maggiano's has been a long time favorite of ours. Our server Henry was very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. He made our evening at the restaurant very enjoyable with his kindness and attention. The food as always is delicious and presentation amazing. Will definitely return in the very near future.
I pulled a menu from the website for the family style for $25.95 which states that it included drinks. I pulled this menu the date I made the reservations which was about two weeks before the lunch date. We went to our luncheon and everything was perfect until they charged us for drinks. We mentioned the menu and what it stated and was told they "never" had one that provided drinks. WE called later and then was told that it was an old menu so the "never" was a lie. If two weeks is considered an old menu and after confirming with the lady who took our order the Friday before our luncheon that drinks were included, we were still charged an additional $42.00 then we were expecting to be charged. I think at first being called a liar and then second being accused of trying to use an old menu was wrong. I believe they should have asked us where and how we found the menu we had and move in more tactful way. I work in the customer service industry and this was no where near the customer service I produce or that we are used to getting at Maggiano's. This is our third year coming for the holidays and now that may be coming to an end.
Food was great, as always! But it was my wife's birthday and I put it on the reservation, I mentioned it to our server, and they didn't do anything for her. No little treat, no song, no note. We were surprised because they normally do something for special occasions (which is why we go there on special occasions).
Not one of my best experiences that I’ve had going there...
The waiter was more than flirtation with me and my friend and in between courses, it took way too long to serve. Not once did I get my water glasses filled. I felt that the service was just not on par with what I normally get from there. At the end of the night, he kept walking past our table and knew were done with out dessert but didn’t bother asking how we were doing. It took twenty minutes to even get the check... overall, it took 2 1/5 hours for a dinner that should of only took one.
As much as I like going here, I would not go here as often as I’d like.
I made a reservation months in advance on a night when we’d be going to a Christmas play. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were given a booth in the bar area where all the people waiting for their table congregate. I planned a special experience for my family and was disappointed by Maggianos. The hostess told me they could get us in the main room if we waited an additional 20 minutes from what we had already waited. When I spoke to the manager, I simply got excuses and no offer of compensation for the inconvenience they had caused. I would have preferred a good table, but since they had already failed us, they should have at least offered a discount. I will probably go back for lunch as the food and service from our server were good, but I will not plan any more special occasion dinners at Maggianos.
I had not been to Maggiano's in a number of years. We were celebrating three birthdays and one of the celebrants chose this restaurant. The restaurant is close to South Coast Plaza so it is ALWAYS VERY busy during the holidays even during the early evening when we went. I have to say with the time of year I was not expecting much. Instead, the service was absolutely outstanding. From the check in process to the seating to the fabulous server we got, I cannot say enough good things about Maggiano's. I assumed with all the hustle and bustle of the time of year it would be a struggle but our waiter made our evening memorable. He came over when we were waiting and got us some appetizers and drinks. He helped us out with the menu, made recommendations etc and made sure everyone was completely satisfied with their food etc. The food was also outstanding and everyone was very impressed with how the evening turned out. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and would definitely be coming back.
This was a dinner to celebrate a friend’s Birthday. We were immediately seated upon arrival at Maggiano’s and we were treated by our initial server. We had a change in servers but it was flawless and we had outstanding service. The service and atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable evening or dinning experience. Maggiano’s made sure that our friend had a special desert to celebrate his birthday. I would highly recommend Maggiano’s for all occasions.
It was a birthday dinner for my friend. I requested a booth and was accommodated. We were running late and I called ahead to let them know we would be delayed 15 min. Our table was ready within 10 min after our arrival. The waitress was very nice and did not rush us with our cocktails. I ordered the Filet Mignon. I did not realize that there was two different filet dishes on the menu. She brought me the wrong one with potatoes and asparagus spears. I brought it to her attention, and she said "Oh you wanted the other one". She let me keep my plate and brought me a side of the risotto, which was delicious. My friend ordered Chicken Francese and loved it! Our waitress also brought crescent shaped lemon cookies as a treat for my friends birthday! They were delicious!!
My filet was cooked to perfection. The asparagus spears were tasteless, barely cooked, tough and fibrous. The room we were in was quite noisy. I would recommend the bar area for a quieter meal. All in all we enjoyed the evening.
Our group from Merrill Gardens senior living in Huntington Beach went for a Christmas lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Some had walkers, one had a wheelchair. We were treated well, with high efficiency, and the food was delicious! We will be back soon because of this visit.
