Maggiano's - South Coast Plaza Ratings and Reviews
This was a dinner to celebrate a friend’s Birthday. We were immediately seated upon arrival at Maggiano’s and we were treated by our initial server. We had a change in servers but it was flawless and we had outstanding service. The service and atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable evening or dinning experience. Maggiano’s made sure that our friend had a special desert to celebrate his birthday. I would highly recommend Maggiano’s for all occasions.
It was a birthday dinner for my friend. I requested a booth and was accommodated. We were running late and I called ahead to let them know we would be delayed 15 min. Our table was ready within 10 min after our arrival. The waitress was very nice and did not rush us with our cocktails. I ordered the Filet Mignon. I did not realize that there was two different filet dishes on the menu. She brought me the wrong one with potatoes and asparagus spears. I brought it to her attention, and she said "Oh you wanted the other one". She let me keep my plate and brought me a side of the risotto, which was delicious. My friend ordered Chicken Francese and loved it! Our waitress also brought crescent shaped lemon cookies as a treat for my friends birthday! They were delicious!!
My filet was cooked to perfection. The asparagus spears were tasteless, barely cooked, tough and fibrous. The room we were in was quite noisy. I would recommend the bar area for a quieter meal. All in all we enjoyed the evening.
Our group from Merrill Gardens senior living in Huntington Beach went for a Christmas lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Some had walkers, one had a wheelchair. We were treated well, with high efficiency, and the food was delicious! We will be back soon because of this visit.
This is one of my favorite restaurants and I came here for my birthday and my reservation was not updated In their computer so me and my family waited about an hour and they ran out of butter cake which is my favorite. The manager did give me a 10 dollar card to come back but I believe she should of comp my birthday dinner since I had to wait an hour to be seated and I had a reservation and drove all the way from Victorville to Costa Mesa. Overall, I love this restaurant and will come back
I’m sad to see how Maggiano’s has steadily declined. We used to come frequently and dine because of the great atmosphere and food. However it is no longer enjoyable. Thankfully we have reservations for our dinner however they crammed everyone in to one tiny table and there were FAR to many tables in the floor. Three of our guests at dinner were rubbing elbows with three other tables!! We sat for for 15 minutes before our waiter hastily came by and still no orders for drinks or anything were taken. We finally had to ask for water and hostess after 30 min brought us bread. If we weren’t celebrating my twins birthday we would have left!!! We knew after our waiter didn’t take our drinks order the hope of a good bottle of wine flew out the window. We stuck with water because he had trouble handling just that. When our order was finally taken we were brought the wrong appetizers and he frantically rush over throw literally throw things down and vanish before we could ask for something. Food wasn’t that great the sauces lacked in quantity and flavor. When we finally were able to order dessert I asked for our bill knowing it was going to take forever to get because now we are TWO hours in. Not because we were taking our time but because our service was atrocious. Dessert was outstanding thankfully. Finally a manager walked by and saw me waiting with my card in hand and asked if she could get us something, I politely asked for my bill which I received immediately from her. When the waiter finally returned with my card and recipet to sign he hovered, yes literally hovered over my shoulder watching what I was going to tip. I just closed the bill till he finally left. The bathrooms were filthy they are over booked I don’t appreciate subpar service or food and you need to limit your bookings if you can’t serve everyone to Your once excellent standards. What a waste of what was suppose to be a lovely evening celebrating our children.
Location of this eatery is great when planning a dinner and a show date with my hubby. We went to see a play at the South Coast Repertory and ended the evening with a nice Italian dinner. Our server Tyler was superb and his recommendations were on point ! We decided on the Marcos dinner for two. We started with the fried zuchinni which was the best we ever had! For our entrees we selected the cheese ravioli and the beef paradelle, both were delicious! We ended the meal with the New York cheesecake which was the icing on the cake. In addition to our delectable three course meal we also chose two classic pasta meals to take home. A great deal for all we had ! Highly Recommend you make reservations as it can get very busy here.
The occasion was for my girlfriend's birthday. Wow, I was blown away by the service and ambiance. Ambiance is what you already expect. The service was great from our server to the chief to came to our table, and asked how was our meal and gave us goodies to take home. We felt very VIP here just by being a normal customer and we left feeling great. (We did the Marco's meal for 2, so we felt even more rewarded by their current deal)
We had reservations for 5 guests at 5pm on a Tuesday evening. Half of our party was 8 min. late(due to auto breakdown). A young woman came over to where we were waiting to be seated and asked if the remainder of our party had arrived. She was very congenial and made us feel welcome. However, our waiter seemed harried and took our order curtly. Alao, he did not return to our table to refill our water glasses or coffee cups. After he returned our credit cards, he said thank you and walked away hastily. Our party of 3 spent over $100 and left our waiter a 17% tip.
I left the restaurant feeling disappointed.
Food was great. Service was the worst I’ve had at Maggiano’s. My daughter spilled a full glass of water and they mopped it with towels but didn’t change the tablecloth, ate the entire meal with a wet tablecloth. They brought her a child’s cup with a lid. We asked for another one for her little friend and the waiter never brought it. Had to ask 4 times for ice since my iced tea did not have any ice in it.
Got there early 15mins early due to craziness and received an pager. 30 mins later i finally get paged while 4 other groups with out reservation and checked in after us. Seem like having a reservation was pointless. Our waiter was great but the people that are seating you was so disorganized and that they forgot about us. Very disappointed that we get skipped while having a reservation!
For an anniversary date, this restaurant was a good choice to go to. The dinner for 2 option gives you a salad each or appetizer, 2 entrees, a dessert, and your choice of a pasta to-go for each person. Sitting in a booth would be best because if you happen to sit at a table in the middle section by the aisle, there is a lot of guest and server foot traffic which can get a little annoying. Other than having to talk louder than we wanted to, everything else was good. Our server was super attentive and helped with any questions we had about the food. We were also checked on by the manager and given complimentary cookies because it was our 1st time dining there. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely dine there again.
On 11/23/2017-The service was crappy. We had a party of 6 and had to wait 20 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. She had low energy and talked very low. The sprite soda was flat...turns out the waitress said all of the soda machines for sprite we not functioning correctly. The brussetta was thrown on the plate, and the sauce wasn’t enough for a party of 6 people. The Maggianos Salad and Caersar Salad was wilted and had little to no dressing. The tilapia was cold, tasteless and not enough for a party of 6. The turkey was cold and very dry. The stuffing was cold and mushy. The spaghetti had 1 meatball for a party of 6. we talked to the kitchen manager on 2 occasions, and he just said yes shaking his head in agreeance. We tried to choke down the food but just couldn’t do it. The majority of the food and left it. The food nor the service changed. The quality of the food as well as the plating was terrible. We ended up paying over $300 for food and service that was below standard, and the worst I’ve ever experienced. Add insult to injury, the manager gave us a $50 gift card. We left and went to get food somewhere else. Will never recommend Maggianos at South Coast Mall.
Thanksgiving dinner at Maggiano's was over the top. We ate, they refilled the plates, we ate some more. Will definitely be back next year. We were a little disappointed that they ran out of desserts. Our reservation was at 7:30, restaurant closed at 8 and the kitchen closed at 9. They were out of all the desserts featured on the holiday menu and we ended up with zuccotto cake bites. Fabulous dessert by itself but we were a little surprised that our waitress hadn't put our order aside earlier.
