Maggiano's - San Jose Ratings and Reviews
We arrived about 415. Receptionist informed no tables without reservation. She turned us away to the bar area. Using my smartphone, I immediately logged into open table and made reservation for 4:30. Then, we were seated. Why would the restaurant enforce a policy that turns customers away from available tables!?!?
Excellent food and value. Server very attentive but difficult to track down resulting in long wait time to order, long wait time to get leftovers wrapped, long wait time to get dessert and long wait time to get check. Dinner could have been completed 30 min sooner if it weren’t for all the waiting! Would like to visit again but will need to consider whether it will be worth the wasted time waiting!
The food was subpar. It is not expected from a restaurant rated this highly by other reviewers. Service was decent. The seating is a bit close together causing you to be involved in other peoples conversations. Much better restaurants to attend at this price point.
Our reservation and table were ready on time. We felt the server had too many tables as our table of 10 was too much for the waitress. She had trouble just taking our water order and had to come back three times to get the 1 beer, 3 sodas, 6 waters to the table. The appetizers came out one at a time, with the last one arriving at the same time the meal did. all of the tables around us got their food before us even though we sat first. Additionally there was almost a ten minute difference from first delivered to the last main dish to arrive. Finally, 1 person ordered a desert and she forgot to bring it so we had to stand by the bar as they had asked if we could vacate the table so they could clean it....We had to stand there waiting for the desert to be packaged to go. Food was great, everyone enjoyed the quality of the food.
Although the food was basically good, there was a2 1/2 inch piece of thick plastic in one of our entrees. My friend bit into it and nearly swallowed it. We mentioned this issue and gave the plastic piece to our server. The manager came to our table and apologized and implied that we would be compensated. When our server brought the bill, there was no discount of any kind.
This is unacceptable at any restaurant, but especially at Maggiano’s , which is expected to be a higher quality establishment.
Xmas party for office. Lunch
All like regular menu.
Felt like we were pushed to do party menu.
Should give option to either menu up front. Should not have to ask for regular menu.
Food was good. Ambience was very good. Service was very good except for initial presentation of party menu only. Did not see Veal dishes but may have missed them.
Our waiter was great! Food was good... It took an hour for us to get our food, and we got our appetizer after we finished our main course... We ended up staying there for 3 hours, since it took so long to get food and drinks (having only ordered lemonade and water). If you decide to go, make sure you have NOTHING planned around it. Expect to wait.
I love Maggiano’s. The food is delicious and the service is normally perfect. However, the server we had last night was uninterested and almost rude. Some of our food didn’t come out until others were already done with their entrees. There was zero apology. We were celebrating a birthday. The server delivered a plate of cookies and walked away.
We had our dinner family style celebrating two birthdays. The service was great. The portions were generous. Our server was great about making sure we had our fill of the items we ordered. Braised beef pappardelle was amazing, as well as the salmon. For dessert we had the creme brûlée and brownie sundae. So worth the 30 minute wait. Thank you for a great night!
I typically enjoy Maggiano’s for dinner with friends. Food is tasty, service is good and price can’t be beat. However, my group was seated along the wall of the kitchen and had to deal with continual banging that sounded like construction. Manager told us it was the dishwasher banging the trays and promised they would get it to stop - which didn’t happen. After putting up with the noise during our entire meal and complaining again, they did compensate us with a discount on our bill. Great place to eat usually, just don’t sit next to the kitchen!
This was our 4th time at this establishment. Unfortunately, it was also our worst. We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation and were told we could not be seated early. We had to send back a lasagna. Only 3 of the six dishes were tasty, of the other 3, 1 was sent back and the other 2 were just O.K. They were very busy so we cut them some slack, but we will definitely think twice before going back.
Occasion was a holiday party for 10. Service was excellent. We had family style meal. For all practical purposes, this is an all you can eat experience. The server will continue to bring courses out if you ask for more.
The overall quality of the food was excellent. We had Cesar salad, calamari, ziti, gnocchi, veal Marsala, beef medallions, cheese cake and tiramisu. Each course was delicious. The beef medallions were very tender and flavorful and were a crowd pleaser. That being said, none of the selections were a disappointment. Would definitely come back.
