Maggiano's - San Jose Ratings and Reviews
I have been to your restaurant quite a few times over the past several years. Lunch and dinner with friends, celebrating birthdays, private parties. Food is outstanding and we look forward every time we go to eat at Maggianos. The waiters are all very pleasant and friendly.
Food is always good. Service is either satisfactory or not at all. Reception is not the greatest.
This particular receptionist, ISABEL, is the most unfriendly and discriminatory person in this place. We waited 10 minutes before our registered check in time to dine. Still waited another 15 minutes to sit down in a very uncomfortable spot so we requested to be move in to one of the many empty booths to dine. We were denied and told to wait for another 30 minutes if we want to. We have been dining in and out of this place for many years, on different occasions, and yet this place isn't satisfying most customers anymore. Please find ways to improve customer service starting from your receptionist!
Would I STILL recommend it to friends and co workers? Depends now!
The best part about this place was Adrian our server. He was knowledgable when it came to the menu and food in general. The food is ok, but it’s a chain so don’t expect anything amazing. I go out to eat and expect good service, most places have subpar service, but Adrian was a top notch server.
It was my friend's first visit to Maggiano's. I have been many times. She loved it and said she is definitely coming back. The waiter was attentive, informative, and courteous. We loved the crabcakes starter, and enjoyed our time there and were not rushed through our meal. Their bread is always delicious. Was a great time all around.
Open table was great. Very confused on why lady said no more reservations allowed or walk ins when Open table had several.
Very pricey for what you get. Food preparation very inconsistent after going there several times. Table setup is poor. Always missing utensils. Coffee is always delayed. Excuse that they run out of coffee. You would think that an establishment like them could figure out how much coffee to make. Ordered wine by the glass and consistently get dirty glass. Almost like dishwasher has left a soap film and particles.
However the banquets are wonderful. Food and service is excellent and definitely priced right. Definitely recommend it for large occasions
On the evening of January 12, 2018, my wife and I celebrated her 65th birthday with a card sent to us from the restaurant inviting us back. Our server did an absolute wonderful job and made us feel warm and special while serving our meal. The meal was great, however, the party across from our table was very disruptive to our experience as three children played non-stop video games with the screens facing our table even while dinner was served. Each of them had little kickstands on their phones so they could play, eat and make game comments at the same time. I briefly spoke to our server about this situation and asked her to bring this behavior up at their daily staff meeting. I’m sure she did and I thanked her for doing so. Is there any appropriate etiquette in restaurants for kids playing video games at their table instead of talking to parents and learning about manners?
Thank you for taking time to read this message and please give this circumstance your consideration as to restaurant operations.
This review was sent to the restaurant Manager & General Manager.
This is one of my favorite place to have a dinner with my loves ones, but this time the waitres was workless, she served me a half order and charge a full order, and I asked for a plate with veggies instead of meat and was a half order with no veggies, unesay lady, and aske d me a lot of times to paid the check, even in the middle of our dinner, very bad sevice of the waitress. still gave a her a tip
We had a bad experience with our bill and didn’t realize it until the next day. My brother paid the entire bill with his credit card. My son paid for his two beers with his credit card. The next day my son was checking his bank balance and noticed he was billed for both the food bill and his two beers, in two separate transactions. My brother said he was also charged the food bill on his credit card. My son and I had to go back to the restaurant the next day and the weather was bad, raining to talk to the manager. Manager was apologetic and knew right away what may have happened. He explained to us and we were satisfied with what he told us. He was going to call my son later but my son is yet to hear from him. Although we think it may have been a mistake the server made it would be nice to know. The charge is still pending on my sons card so we hope it will eventually not go through.
Food was pretty good. It was really the service the brought the ratings down. Despite the reservation, we still had to wait approximately 30 minutes to get seated and the service was pretty terrible. Missing orders, slow refills on refreshment, and just really slow response time on little request (like getting the bill).
What a horrible experience we had. Our waitress was terrible. We had a reservation at 5, and still ended up not leaving there until after 8 because she kept disappearing. My wife’s order was wrong, so she ended up eating by herself because it took so long to get her correct meal out to us.
We will not be going back there for a very long time.
We were greeted upon arrival by the host and seated immediately since we had a reservation. Ray was our server and he was amazing! He was very patient with our party and took his time. He answered all of our questions and kept coming back to check on us. We truly appreciate his great service. Thank you Ray!
Service was professional and quick to be seated for reservations. A little slow waiting between dishes, but with the right company it's not too bad. Dishes are huge and filling, not so tasty as to be a favorite but the atmosphere and decoration make it very worthwhile.
We were celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday with some of her friends and family. Joe was our server and when he had the time he was great (informative and helpful). Also we mentioned we had a food allergy and the chef came out and spoke to us about how the food is prepared in a separate kitchen when it is entered as "allergic" - that was really a nice touch! Joe basically didn't have enough bus help. Our waters we empty most of the time, the table was crowded with courses as they brought out the next one. The food and the portions were really good! Another miss was that we sent some of the first course back and asked it be packaged up for taking home but then we were told later it was likely discarded. Joe offered to make some fresh for us but we declined to avoid the wait and hassle. So would we go back? Yah I guess I probably would but my expectations for service will be lower - which is disappointing?
Bringing in family from out of town to experience what is normally good food and service and to have the opposite was not what i wanted them to experience. This visit was very disappointing.
We had a larger party of ten, ordered family style and were seated before five.
We love Maggiano’s and all of the food they offer, but the service on New Year’s Eve was very poor. We had to ask for EVERYTHING (butter, water, more water, our check) more than once, sometimes 3-4 times. Our waiter complained to us at least 5 times about how busy he was and how tired he was...he said two servers walked out that evening. Diners don’t need to hear that. I am very sympathetic when I see a server working hard, but he was just disappearing while others were working hard. We saw other tables waited on very well. He said they ran out of ice, but all the tables around us had ice and were being served drinks with ice even after he said that...and when he finally refilled our waters, we still didn’t get ice. I think he was just too lazy to get the ice. If you get Hector as your waiter, ask to be seated in a different section. That’s what I’ll do the next time I dine at Maggiano’s.
Had a reservation for four at 5pm New Year’s Eve; had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation to be seated. Service was very slow, our drinks came after our dinner, and we had to wait forever for a to go box and our check. Food was delicious though so that was the saving grace.
Everything was wonderful, food spectacular!! Ambiance little Italy which we loved. The only issue and needs to be corrected by management is the poor service at the bar when you walk through the front entrance! Male bartender seemed disinterested in helping us and more interested in what he was looking at behind the bar with his female coworker. After 10 min he took our order and only gave my husband his drink and walked away. We ordered two beers on draft that was right in front of us yet he never told us why he gave us only one beer. Then we asked the female bartender where my drink was and said oh sorry I will get it and Stella had nothing but foam coming out of tap and she said it’s just changed and poured the foam out and still filled glass with foam and beer which tasted horrible!!! Both bartenders disappeared after that. Had to look for them to pay tab since our table was ready. Horrible bar service!!!
The waiter Alex was superb and service in dining room excellent! This is what made it better experience!
Our reservation was at 5:15. I checked in with the hostess at 5:17 and she said seating us would be delayed because we were late. We didn't get seated for 20 more minutes. I won't be coming back to Maggiano's anytime soon. Too expensive to be packed in like sardines and have food that is not worth the price. Our waiter was great though and he brought us a special dessert for our anniversary.
