Maggiano's - Old Orchard Ratings and Reviews
Being a chain Maggiano's the experience is always hit and miss but their food is always consistent. Saturday night was definitly a hit. Service was top notch and it really made for a great birthday for my mother-in-law. They even took care of the vegans in our party. Chef Sam took their orders table side and game up with a great App and meal. Overall a great experience.
Have been to Maggiano's many times. The food is good & plentiful. The service was a bit slow on the night we dined there, but not that bad. The menu is large and there are quite the variety of foods & drinks to order. All in all a good standy for dinner or lunch.
I made my reservation through open table. Arrived with my party on time. They handed me a pager and made us wait another 20 minutes. Not what I expect when I make a reservation. The food was good and plentiful, as usual, but the service, because it was so busy, I presume, was meh. We were also tucked in really tightly with several other tables so it was a bit claustrophobic as well. We'll keep our visits here confined to off hours.
The restaurant had a beautiful table set with stars for my mom and her special birthday. The service was a bit to be desired. Our waiter left the massive menu's on the table which had little room to spare with the large plates with us until after the appetizer. We ordered a ceaser salad for the table for 11.00 of which it was the same size as what the half portion was we saw being brought to other tables. I did question it but was told it was correct. It barely fed us. The riggatoni was no different than my lasagna. Both looked like a bowl of mush. I remember the lasagna being stacked tall with sauce on it. This had a Denny's skittle look to it. We had to ask twice to get parmasaign cheese for the table.
The waitress and cook got the orders mixed up, did not check on us throughout our meal, and was rude. We also wanted to split the check between friends and she refused to accommodate us. She told us to do it ourselves. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The fact that she refused to split the check and make it easier for us to pay was unbelievable. I can't believe that she told us to do it ourselves. How does she expect a party of 10 to break down what we each ordered and include tip? She complained that she could not because the drinks were too hard to calculate. The night turned out frustrating.
I dined with a group for lunch on Friday. The food and service was superb as always. As well, two of the young men were new NAVY graduates at Great Lakes RTC. Your staff went above and beyond in their service for us. They made the young men feel special and appreciated on a very important day in their lives. Thank you so much!
This is the second time we've been here. A non-pretentious friendly little Italy. It's usually busy and a little noisy. The food is simple, but extremely delicious.
Their Calamari Fritte as appetizer are as great as they are in Spain or Italy! It's a must dish! Chicken Francese and Shrimp Scampi we would definitely order again.
Red Sangria could be better, though.
We've been here many times, but this was the first time the service was lacking. The food was great, but our server was very slow and forgetful. Initially, she was busy so another server brought out some water and bread while we waited. When she came, she did apologize for the wait. I asked for butter for the bread, she also took our food order and left. Ten minutes later she passed our table, I asked about the butter and she said she had not been to the kitchen yet. The butter came with our salad. I asked for a straw for my water, it never came, so my husband gave me his from his tea. On her next visit I reminded her about the straw and then got it. These were only 2 examples. The pattern for the entire meal was ask and remind. New Server?
In the past year or so the service and food at Maggiano's had declined notably, but in my last several visits this seems to have been improved. Maybe I'm just learning what to order. We had the parmesan crusted tilapia, and it was well made and tasted delicious. We also had the Maggiano's chopped salad. That was just okay. Service has improved and we're not waiting a long time to see the servers. I hope they keep working on improvements.
Maggiano's Old Orchard is dependable: you can always get good food & good service. I have been there with one other person, & I have been there for large private parties. The quality is always the same. The bargain of the year is their basic pasta, which for me is 2 meals by itself. But then you get a complete second basic pasta to take home. The portion size on all of their entrees is generous.
Made reservations for lunch. Got a table that was in a very poor location. No one came by to offer a beverage, bread, etc. Hostess came over about 10 minutes later to offer a better table. We accepted and a pleasant lunch was in store. Great tasting food, attentive service, nice portions. Too stuffed to order dessert.
I took my bestfriend to Maggiano's to celebrate her 40th birthday. I made a reservation for 2 not knowing that she was going to bring her 2 kids, ages 12 & 10. When we arrived, they immediate adjusted the seating arragements and accomodated all of us (4 ppl). We were seating within a couple of minutes.
The server (sorry, I forgot her name) was VERY attentive and gave special attention to the kids.
After our meals, she came out with half-moon shaped lemon cookies arranged in a circle with a lit whimpsical candle for my friend to make a wish upon...truly very special!! They even had ice cream for the kids.
Maggiano's made the occassion very special!! :)
This is the worst experience we ever had at Maggiano. Service was sub par and the food took forever to arrive at our table. Several seated after us received food before us. We were a table of 4, ordered 2 appetizers and a salad. Not a huge order. Not sure of the server's name, but he couldn't be bothered with us.
The food was very good and our server was outstanding. I'm sorry that I did not get her name, but she was friendly, attentive and packed all our left overs neatly and pleasantly. The classic pasta menu with a free take-home entree is a great idea and makes the value unbeatable.
We had an incident where a bus-boy dropped some dishes right next to us splattering my clothes with sauce. The manager came over right away and offered to discount our bill and pay any dry cleaning costs. We did not have to ask, it was just done. This is the way a restaurant should be run, with a pro-active response to an issue.
The eveing was more than perfect. Not only was the food excellent and of large quanity, but the service was splendid with a waitress who had a radiant smile and a congenial flare about her, creating an additional enjoyment to the surroundings. The menu was unstoppable with a delicious variety of pastas, meats, and seafood. Although my friend and I had our stomachs inflating, the desserts were to enticing and one we did not overlook. We enjoyed the dinner and the superb job of the staff.
