Maggiano's - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
The occasion for the visit was my college graduation. Being a special occasion and first time visit at the restaurant I had the hopes of a better experience.
Inside was a little chaotic. There were people waiting and walking throughout the restaurant all clustered aimlessly. What was initially a messy first introduction to the restaurant became a fair experience because of our server.
Jules, our server was initially nice. Though she kept a level of professionalism in her service, there were parts of it that showed prejudice. The small details in her service showed that from the start. As a first example, other tables acquired their bread and were given plates to pair, we were not. We had to request plates from our server so that we could eat the bread with the condiments provided. Though it seems like a small detail it did not end there.
The second example was her responsiveness to our tables needs. Our refreshments were only topped off twice. Also, a request for a missing cup of water took 30 minutes to arrive. Upon arrival of the cup no sorry for the wait, it was just left there. Though it was busy night our server was not engaged with our table as much as the ones around us.
There was miscommunication error from both parties about a dish. After the mistake was rectified, thanks to the manager. Our server completely ignored our table. She simply just stopped engaging. She would collect our plates and offer the dessert menu as her last chore.
I think it’s fair to say we were not a disruptive group of people. We came to celebrate a special occasion with friends, family, and good food. I was left with a bad impression of the establishment thanks to our server. I don’t know what caused her to treat us differently than the other tables. I really hope it was not because we were a different race from everybody there at the establishment.
this was a great place to eat but they changed the menu and cut the portions and raised the price, the chicken dishes prices were raised you used to get 3 small breast now 2, the egg plant is like frozen and deep fried not pan fried nothing special anymore in the past would purchase several hundred dollars in gift cards now just using up what I have there are better restaurants in the area very sorry was a great spot not anymore
It was Edwin's 96th birthday. He is a WWll veteran who served his country in crisis in the U.S.A. Navy. He has struggled to survive a horrific war, continued his education when he came home and earned 3 college degrees, paying his own way through college. He helped his mother and father in their struggles to survive the great depression of 1929 and the aftermath. I felt the least Maggiano's could have done is comp a nice piece of chocolate cake with a candle in. Not the 6 little lemon cookies with a light in. In the past they have done so. Is Maggiano's going broke? We also felt the food was skimpier than the fabulous meals we have had in the past. Though we can't take a full meal as we age, what is going on in the kitchen? The taste was there but the hospitality was lacking. Our waitress was wonderful but she can't help what management tells her to do. We are going to think twice about celebrating again there. Food was great. Too noisy. Waitress went for bread. Came back 15 minutes later. She forgot to wrap my leftovers. Got the bill and extra pasta dinner. Asked where did she go with leftover lasagna. Came back about 10 minutes later with lasagna. I looked at it when I got home and it didn’t look like my leftovers. Threw it out. What a shame.
Another great meal and Maggiano's. I will say out of all the times I've been there, and then I've been many, Sam our server, was excellent. I've never been told all the things that she told us regarding the service, the meals ,things in general. I will be back and I will be asking to be seated in her section
My best friend and I had a reservation on Saturday, December 10, 2017 to celebrate our belated birthday together. We walked in having never been into the Oak Brook location and we were confused where we needed to check in. When I finally asked someone we were then seated by the hostess at a table in the middle of the restaurant with very large parties seated beside us. My friend asked if we could have a booth so we could actually have a conversation and enjoy our lunch. We were told we could sit in the booth in the lounge area and the bartender would also be our waitress, it was NOT busy. There was a few people at the bar but it was very quiet at that time. We felt like we were a bother to her from the start. She was unfriendly and rushed us through ordering. It was my friend’s first time there. Usually a new patron would receive a few suggestions. Nothing was explained to us. We quickly got our orders, we were never asked how our meal was. We waited for 15 minutes at least for a drink refill. She rushed us out, didn’t have conversation with us at all, boxed our leftovers faster than we received our drink refill and given our check while she stood there while I filled out the credit information on the receipt. I could definitely understand if it was during a huge rush and people were lined up outside but that wasn’t even the case. It was a little after noon so she wasn’t getting off her shift shortly. It was ridiculous how awful it was. We also came out to Oak Brook from New Lenox, IL which is 45 minutes to an hour away as I thought she would have a great experience there for our day out. I’ve never had to write such an awful review but I don’t want another special event to become a disappointment. We ended up leaving Oak Brook and coming back to a local restaurant we knew would have excellent service.
After waiting 30 minutes for a table, even though we made reservations, we were seated at a table on the pathway to the kitchen on one side and practically on top of the people at the next table on the other side. Then we had horrible service. Our waiter was awful. My steak was raw although I ordered it medium rare. My asparagus was not cooked. This was the anniversary of our first date. We had met there one year before. It should have been a special night but it was horrible.
Dinner was superb along with the service. Our waitress answered all our questions in regards to menu, was very polite, talkative and made sure our food and service was the best!
I would come back just on her merits alone but our meals were awesome as well!
I wish I remembered her name because our visit was that much better because of her!
Maggianos's will never disappoint. They have a great deal where you buy one to eat in restaurant and you get one free to take home. These are not little portions either. You can really get four meals from two. pasta choices are great and the food is tasty to say the least. Service is always friendly and attentive. Love going there really. A favorite of mine!!!!
Our server was very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. He made recommendations for wine & food. He was attentive without being over-bearing.
The food we ordered was very good. I would absolutely have the clams and linguine again. My husband had the spaghetti w meat sauce, which had a little too much tomato paste in the sauce making it heavy.
We had the house salad w vinigarette which was excellent! We ate every bit of this salad.
It could be just a little warmer in the restaurant, when it’s winter in Illinois! Tables are spaced far enough apart, for privacy, but still seems fun filled!
The food was delicious, the waitress was wonderful, very available and friendly. Did not like our seating. With 9 people we felt very crowded and noise level was high, difficult to really enjoy the company. Next time will request different seating. Loved the ease of making reservations online.
Maggiano's NEVER disappoints! My best friend and I were celebrating 49 years of friendship and our birthdays. The food and service was fabulous as always. Maggiano's is by far my favorite restaurant and the place that I choose for an intimate dinner or for a family celebration for 20.
