Maggiano's - Naperville Ratings and Reviews
One of my favorite restaurants for the best Italian food! I always love going back!
Portion sizes are great - I always have leftovers! The family style dinners for groups is a must!
Wait staff is very knowledgeable of wines with meals, meal limitations and giving options. The restaurant is always clean and feels like you are at home. LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant!
Did I say I love it!
Our server Nick (?) was so wonderful and attentive! I had a gift card from one of my students to use, as well as rewards from my loyalty card and birthday bonus money to spend. I also had an email coupon sent to me. I didn't think I would be able to use all of them but Nick let me use it all and our bill went from $72 down to $11. The food was wonderful, the time with my family was great and the value and service outstanding! Thanks - we have been and will always be loyal customers.
Sad and disappointing experience. Do not feel like returning to this place again. Our waitress was sweet but very sick and kept coughing, sneezing and clearing a runny nose throughout. Not entirely her fault; she should have been given a sick leave. We could not enjoy the food. The server had such a frown on his face when he brought the food. Overall, very unwelcoming and unpleasant experience. This was in celebration for my parents' anniversary and really ruined our moods.
We were seated even before our reservation time but then waited over 10 minutes to even be greeted or get water and that was the manager that must have been watching. Another 10 minutes and finally a waitress. Asked for lemons for our water and placed our order. Appetizer came, not really hot but OK. Meal was fine then the lemons came. Lots of apologies but kind of got old. Things have really gotten bad recently.
I ordered Shrimp Scampi. It is a simple, elegant dish - shrimp, garlic, lemon, olive oil, butter and parsley. (I cook this dish and order it frequently). What i was served was gummy shrimp, heavily doused with garlic powder, floating in a watery sauce with over cooked angle hair pasta and cherry tomatoes (?). I ate less then half.
Maggiano's - Naperville reminds me of a factory food operation - high volume, commissary quality. If you are looking for authentic Italian food, look elsewhere.
Fyi we are repeat customers. However this experience was disappointing. Sunday 10am breakfast reservations. Completely empty Seated immediately. Friendly front staff. We were the 1st patrons, then another party arrived. Management may consider turning up the "heat" thermostat well in advance before opening the restaurant. Air temp inside was extremely Cold. When the Food came to our table it too was Cold. Our waitress was nice but had to ask for refills of coffee. An hour later as we were leaving the restaurant only had 3 other tables occupied. Reached out to the manager, she apologized. Invited us back.
I have been going to Maggianos for decades, and have written nothing but positive, outstanding reviews. As always, the restaurant was packed, my daughter and granddaughter were pleased with their entrees and desserts. Our server, Kristen, took very good care of us. I left a 25 % tip. I ordered the "Jumbo Crab Cakes" which my wife and I have ordered before. If you have ever been to Shaws in Chicago, then you may know what jumbo size crabcakes I am talking about. Instead, I get three little crab cakes each of which would fill a little muffin baking tin. The only reason I didn't send them back was it would have embarassed my daughter and bewildered my 12 year old granddaughter. I brought one of them home I was so angry. $31.00 for three, plus the arugula. They tasted great, but $10.00 per little crab cake? Come on, man! Everything on the menu I have ordered in the past has been great, but I am not paying $31.00 again for crab cakes I need a Magnifying glass to see. The stuffed mushrooms were good as always.
Server was sick and should not have been working. She was not attentive, tired and coughing at tables.
The angel hair pasta was way over cooked and way to much sauce (was like a soup) in the shrimp scampi dish. Horrible.
They were also put of the first two drinks I attempted to order.
