Maggiano's - Milwaukee Ratings and Reviews
Maggiano's is a regular go-to for family dinner with my adult children. It still will be but not during "prime time." The food was great, but the service was not. I think our server was young and inexperienced--which happens--but it was an important family event, so I was disappointed.
When the meal was served - one persons food was cold , returned to kitchen , while waiting she was offered a salad which she didn't accept. By the time she received her meal the three of us were more than half finished with our meal. They were very sorry and told us we would not be charged for her meal .
The service was outstanding. I had a reservation for a party of 16, and due to some tables taking a little longer we had to wait. The manager offered four free appetizers to compensate for the wait, and we didn’t even ask or complain about waiting. I appreciated that so much. The waitress split checks over 10 ways, which I would never expect a waitress to do. But she was glad to! Made ordering very easy for my friends. They were sensitive to a guests alergy. The servers were friendly. It was such a great experience. Would 100% have a gathering there again.
My husband and I came here for a date night. We ordered 2 different salmon dishes and both tasted wonderful. I can't leave an Italian restaurant without having tiramisu for dessert. It was quite a large portion so splitting 1 between my husband and I was more than enough.
We had a very good business dinner. The service was excellent and our waiter knew the menu well and made very good suggestions. My salmon was cooked perfectly, others had gnocchi and pasta dishes were very good. I would highly recommend Maggiano’s to anyone. We enjoyed our meal.
Oh where to start. First, Open Table providing a needed reservation just 2 1/2 hours before being seated at a usually very busy and popular restaurant. Second with the senior hostess that greeted us by name, not once but at least three times, who provided us with a prime booth 10 minutes early. Third, Cesar our waiter was very understanding when our other couple was 15 minutes late. We all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, with three of us getting their signature dishes that provided us with a pasta dish to enjoy for lunch and one perfectly prepared and chilled to take home. Cesar’s attention to us through out the meal was timely, and when his inquiries about dessert was declined, proceeded to bring us theses delightful lemon cookies that were light and delicious. Can only say we will be back and have made Maggiano’s a new favorite dining location. 👌👍
Service started good, but rapidly diminished. Nothing came together, two martinis, then 5 min passed, two wines came, a iced tea, then 3 min passed a ginger ale, then my mixed drink, and another 4min, the last drink!? A couple of Appetizer next very good, then a good 15 min, salads. But not all together? Entrees timing 10-15 minutes spread. Then dessert, coffee, and after drinks. 2 decafs came, the desserts came 10 min later. Then 1 reg coffee, but it was cold! Server said needed to make more coffee. The reg coffee finally came after 10 more min. But server forgot another coffee and an drambuie! Service too spread out for my liking.
We had a reservation for 6:45 and got seated about 6:50 or so. Not bad for a busy Friday night, and we got a booth, which we absolutely adore. I detest sitting at tables. Inevitably, someone smashes into your elbow. No worries with a booth.
My husband had the ribeye, which he very much enjoyed, except for the onions. He hates onions, so I ate them (this is frequently what we do). Balsamic caramelized - delicious!
I had the veal piccata. While good, there are other dishes I prefer. I did like the sauteed spinach that came with it.
We got salads to start. Love, love, love the chopped salad. Our waitress was attentive enough without hovering.
An enjoyable date night!
Best part was the happy hour prices for our cocktails and the tiramisu. The salad was not fresh and had very little dressing. Almost dry. Pasta primavera had huge carrots that were hard, along with zucchini. Cheap veggies vs asparagus, beans, etc. which is usually in the dish. The wait for our food was about 45 min. Almost walked out. Chef finally came out and apologized but never offered anything off the bill. Our ticket must have been lost. They gave us the free meals to take home before our orders. Would rather have good service and food than free items to take home. Won’t return for awhile.
Best first experience ever!!! Not only was my seating arrangements the best, the manager welcomed us, the waitress was respectful and helpful, the chef came and talked to us about sour food allergies and preferences and the hostess was pleasant!!! I really love this restaurant and I will be back!
The power went out before we were served but after we had ordered (which I understand may not be the restaurants fault). We sat in the dark with no updates for 20 minutes and were summarily told, "you'll have to leave now, we're closing" by a hostess. Not a word from the manager or our server. Very poor customer service.
It was a busy night there however that's no excuse for lack of service quality. Dinner was brought out and the servers had no idea who ordered what. We only had a table of 4. Food was mediocre quality. One of the people we were with had ordered well done steak and it came out red. Had to send it back. The brochetta was the only good part of the meal the rest was just ok. Then all of a sudden the lights went out and no one working there knew what to do. They were walking around with their flashlights on their phone and didn't say anything to the customers. After about 10 minutes in we decided to leave on our own fearing out safety. Management should have reassured the customers of the issue and that they were going to take care of it ASAP. I understand things like this happen but they should have communicated to us what to expect after the situation. The server said since the power is out she needed to go upstairs to get the credit card machine like are you kidding me?
Our food was good but we were served our meal literally 5 min after we placed our order. I definitely felt rushed and since we didn't order an appetizer or salad, they were going to try to turn the table as quickly as possible. I seriously couldn't believe when i looked up and saw our food being brought to us. It was just too quick and no chance to kick back and relax.
The food was excellent!...However the service wasn’t great. The waitress brought bread to the table and poured oil for dipping. When we grabbed plates for bread, the four that were on the table were dirty. Not just a spot here and there...the bottom plate had obviously been used previously and left stacked on the table. After she brought new plates, we didn’t see her again until we were finished with our entrees that someone else brought out.
On the way back to the table after I had used the restroom, I had to go back up the stairs and overheard a conversation between two servers. They were talking about another table in which the one told the other he was taking care of big Bertha.
Needless to say, the service sucked. If it weren’t for the fact I was seated upstairs and could actually hear my boyfriend, I would have scored everything with one star.
