Maggiano's - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
This is the first time we've ever been disappointed in Maggianos. It was our sons 14th birthday and we made a reservation a while ago. When we arrived they gave us a beeper... 15 minutes later we checked in and they said we paged you... which never happened. We were seated and it was like a race... food kept coming out so fast.,, the entrees arrived while we were enjoying the salad and apps... there was no room for all the plates... it was so disappointing because we felt hurried and rushed.... half way through the meal they brought the basket of bread. The saddest part was when the dessert arrived... no sparkler for the birthday boy. We come here every year and this was the first time they didn't celebrate his birthday... even though our bill was almost $300. Come on Maggianos...you can do better than this!
Our service was not good. After we were all seated, we waited and finally had to ask if she would take our drink order. Some wanted coffee and she never came back to ask if they would like another cup. Someone in our party had a dinner size salad with chicken and had to ask for dressing. All and all, the service was very slow and not good.
Was disappointed that our request for a booth was not honored even though we reserved in advance. We were at a 4-top table, with 5 of us in attendance and tables were incredibly close together in the restaurant due to a large party that was there that night. Very busy for a Tuesday, but one whole section of the restaurant was closed, which led to the over-crowded center.
Food was good as usual, and the service was good as well. Just wish the seating arrangement could have been better.
It seemed those that made a reservation directly with the restaurant were seated before us. We go to Maggionos a lot in Oak Brook Illinois. We were visiting Indianapolis and new the food was good. We were disappointed in the service. Our salad and entree arrived at the same time. We had ordered wine and it arrived after our food arrived! Not the service we were used to.
Not all Maggiano's are equal and the one in Indy is bad. We were seated 20 min after our reservation time. The wait staff came and took our drink order which took 15 min to deliver to the table. We told her that we would like to order the bruschetta and would wait till it came before ordering the rest of our food. Another 15 min went by and another waitress came and asked to take our order. She said the bruschetta would be right out and she wouldn't put our main order in till then. You guessed it, salads came and bruschetta followed. Main course came and salad bowls were not cleared and runner just pushed them a side. My veal parm had to be sent back because it was cooked to a crisp and curled on the plate. Finally got m reorder and it was still over cooked. Have been to many Maggianos's around the the country but will not be back to this one
Once we were seated, our experience was great. Our waiter was kind and understood that the hostess put us in a major time crunch, and the chef personally came out to talk to my nephew about his food sensitivities. I do wonder, though, what the point of reservations are at Maggiano’s. We arrived at 2:30 for our 3pm reservation, were checked in at 2:45 with all members of our party present, and didn’t get seated until 3:20 or 3:25. There was absolutely no apology or explanation as to why there was such a delay to be seated. We were late getting to our event because of this delay. While we loved the food, I’m not sure we will be back to this location.
We were celebrating a birthday which I indicated in my reservation, and when we arrived the table had been decorated and the server was onboard the minute we arrived. It was excellent all the way around. And it was a very busy night due to the Indy marathon, but quality was still excellent.
We called because we running 10 minutes late because of traffic. No problems and we were seated immediately.
The waiter greeted us and we ordered drinks. He steered us to family style but we already knew the menu and what we wanted. He seemed frustrated we didn’t go with the more expensive option.
We waited for our drinks( 2 cocktails and a beer).
We waited for our bread.
Next our food came ( no drinks no bread).
It was obvious he wanted to turn the table quickly and get a larger tip opportunity.
Finally our drinks came.
A little later he placed a basket on our table without the traditional mixing of oil and cheese.
We did this on our own.
The food was fantastic as usual, but not the service.
We have been to many maggianos (Orlando, St. Louis, Chicago, and Minneapolis) and this was the first time we have felt not wanted. The waiter wasn’t interested in our business. Very disappointed in the service.
The food was just what I was looking for, in preparation for the Indy marathon the following day. The waitstaff was friendly, very courteous and helpful with my many requests. The larger wine pour by the glass was also a selling point for me, which you don't find everywhere. Overall, it was a very nice, comfortable environment for a spaghetti meal.
This was our third time at Maggiano's & was a rather disappointing visit. We were seated at a table squeezed in between 2 very large parties (15-20 each) in the dining room. We asked for quieter less claustrophobic location & were able to move to a table in the bar. Food was very good but service poor. Very busy for a Thursday night and appeared to be under-staffed. We'll try again sometime in the hopes that this was a one time disappointing visit.
Maggiano's has always and continues to be a family favorite for special occasions. Outstanding service, knowledgeable servers, and excellent food. My wife's lasagna came out warm but not hot, so they sent out a new one - this is only thing that seems to be common occurrence. We will continue going for birthdays and anniversary's.
Maggiano's has always been my favorite restaurant . I was disappointed this trip. I felt the hostess was rude, we didn't get the seating we asked for. The server was fine. The food was not hot and it seemed like we got less food than normal. I'm not sure if I will return to Maggiano's again, I'm so sad!!
I usually have a meal there whenever I am in Indianapolis visiting my sister at The Forum. All five of us who attended on the cited date are over 80 years of age. All relished their respective, and plentiful, meals so much so that take-home boxes were needed. Had my wife and I chosen the same meal, we would have ordered only one and split it between us.
With aging hearing, I usually request seating away from other guests. We're not that noisy, but sometimes they are!
Disappointing. Arrived for our reservation on time, but the attendant at the front told us we could not sit until all of the our party had arrived---no smile or explanation...and the restaurant had open tables at the time. Not only was this unwelcoming, it is a poor business strategy as it meant we were less likely to order an appetizer. Our server helpful and friendly, but the food was uninspiring for the price.
