Maggiano's - Hackensack Ratings and Reviews
Food was so salty that it was almost inedible. Used to like going here but will stay away from now on. Was not an isolated incident. The last 2 or 3 times we were there, the same thing with the salt. Guessing they changed the recipes as was not an issue before.
I asked four of my friends to join me for the Holiday Lunch Special. It was a Thursday at 1:00 so it wasn’t too crowded but there were two tables of larger groups, so it was a bit noisy. Appetizers were very good but stuffed mushrooms had very little flavor. We ordered the eggplant Parmesan because my one friend is vegan. When they brought it out, there were 4 pieces for 5 people, but they did bring us one more piece when asked. Ironically, none of us could eat it because it was so salty. The waitress told us they don’t add salt to the dishes but someone did! We were able to get a replacement of cheese ravioli, which was very good. We ordered the Parmesan encrusted tilapia. The tilapia that came was something totally different. It had tomatoes, spinach and capers, but no Parmesan crust. At that point we just ate it rather than ask for something different. The dessert of apple crostata and creme brûlée were excellent. We’ve been to Maggianos many times and this is the first time we were a little disappointed. Still enjoyed the leftovers the next day.
I had a very nice time with my family at Maggiano's, the food is delicious, and the service is always an A+
We are so glad that we chose to go there for my birthday.
The only inconvenience is the parking, in spite of that I can recommend it for any ocassion with family and friends.
Arrived on time for our 5:45 PM reservation to celebrate my wifes birthday. We met the hostess and she led us into a large dining room. There were only a few occupied tables, perhaps ten at most. We were seated next to a group of six women and one man. That group was obnoxiously loud and they all seemed drunk. Of all the empty tables in the room( 90%) we were seated right next to them. We could hardly talk to one another the group was so disruptive yelling at the top of their lungs. Ruined our visit to Maggianos. The waiter provided very good service, but we will not be returning due to the noise level. Two of our previous visits there turned out the same way. It seems people today have no manners.
I felt a little rushed today. I don't know if the wait staff is informed when a reservation is seated but today was not normal. First we waited longer than usual for our initial interaction. At that point, we were already being asked what we wanted to order. We have been here enough times to know, there are seasonal specials, etc. We did not get any of that. The restaurant was not even busy, so I don't understand. The only explanation I can come up with is my waitress had a table of eight right next to us. Either way some what of a letdown for a typically good restaurant.
Pleasantly surprised no wait, no crowds but it was after Thanksgiving. Our table of 4 was greeted and seated right away. Waitress was very informative about specials and her favorites. We ordered a side ceasar( my weakness) more than enough to share plus fried zucchini which used to come in strong form and now sliced but just as crispy and flavorful, 2 lasagnas to share and sausage and peppers. So full plus received 2 pasta to go plates was a steal 3 drinks and a coffee all on $105.00!
It was my birthday and our server was incredibly rude. The host came by to say happy birthday to me after he saw how rude our server was and even wrote a small note in my check saying thank you for coming. However the server really out me in a bad mood and made me regret chosing to eat there
Firstly i should say, my experience was likely not the norm at Maggiano's. I went for Thanksgiving dinner where there was a prix fixe menu. Had I known that it was not the regular menu, I problem would not have picked this restaurant. We had multiple waitresses great us and it went a bit down hill from there. Our party of 4 we ordered 2 of each of the items (as suggested on the menu). The menu choices were very nice, but not all items included descriptions which was tricky so we needed to ask about each of the salads (one of the people in the party is a pescatarian so we wanted to make sure she would be able to eat most of the dishes). We received two different types of bruschetta which was on the menu and both were quite tasty. The salads arrived but not what we ordered. The food runner seemed to not know what to do when we said this wasn't what we ordered. (How could the waitress write down the wrong salads, not sure.) The salads were delicious, though. Next came one dish of four and no sides. Odd. No one seemed to be coming to our table with more. The waitress noticed this and apologized but we sat for a few more minutes with no additional food. Finally all of the plates were brought out. Everything was tasty, but not great. The stuffing that was served with the turkey had huge cubes of bread with barely anything else. Our waitress checked on us a few times but when we had finished our food it was hard to find her. We finally found her and asked for our leftover food to be wrapped up and if we could get the desserts to go (at that time we had already been sitting in the restaurant almost 2 hours). It didn't seem like it was a problem, but ended up taking at least 15 minutes for the desserts to arrive.
I realize that it was a holiday, but if the restaurant can not be run efficiently, why be open? I was also shocked to see that when we arrived (at 5:30pm) almost every table was full.
We were here for the Thanksgiving family dinner since we had a good dinner there last year. The food was good, but our server, who told us he would take good care of us, did not make sure we had plates for the salad course, took over 30 minutes to bring a drink, and did not split our bill as we had requested. He split it as he felt it should be split. It really ruined an otherwise nice dinner.
I’ve only been to Maggiano’s 2 times and both have been on thanksgiving ..... the food is pretty decent however had complaints that on the turkey platter more than 1/2 was stuffing and only 5-6 of turkey for a party of 4.... and we did ask for more , by the time it came to the table we moved on to other food and they only bought a few slices .... we did eat them however .... the other complaint is that we waited some time between the salad and the rest of the food ... then everything came out together ... the waiter was pleasant and he did everything he could to Please us ...
Had an early 5:30pm reservation Saturday at Maggiano’s and the restaurant was already busy. I can certainly understand why, excellent fresh food at a great price. I started with the chopped salad, avocado, blue cheese, prosciutto, delicious, it is my favorite salad anywhere. I then had the chicken Marsala, large portion of 2 chicken cutlets and a tasty mushroom brown sauce, I would order it again. I chose the crispy Vesuvius potatoes to accompany the chicken, they were perfect, loved them. Finished with the apple crostata. Not only is the food delicious here but the service is top notch and the management excellent. This large busy restaurant runs so smoothly, it’s amazing.
Everything about our meal was very good. My cocktail was well-made, the salad very fresh, and my entree extremely satisfying. I especially liked how they offer a "lighter" version of traditional entrees. Having the calorie count on the menu makes for an easy decision. Good choice of appetizers as well. We didn't have dessert but I'm sure that's good as well. Service was attentive and there was not a long wait for anything. Family-friendly atmosphere, several large groups. Not super cozy in the dining area as least, as the lights are bright and ceilings high. Would eat here again.
Felicia behind the bar made us feel comfortable as we waited for the rest of our party. Once seated, the wait staff was attentive without being overbearing. Once drinks, apps and meals were ordered, they were brought out timely. Overall very satisfied with the service and quality of the food.
We had a wonderful date and we got the meal for two, which included salads, entrees, and a dessert to share. We also got two dinners to take home (included) and we are so happy this morning that we do not have to cook tonight. Well worth it. Excellent meal, excellent service. We’ll be back.
We were going to order a 9oz. Glass of wine nothing special... we just happened to look on wine list,a 9oz glass of wine was $18.00.!!! Really not in the best restaurants do I️ pay that for a house or close to it wine , more expansive then most of there entrées .!!!!!
It was my first time dining at Maggiano's.
The food was absolutely amazing! The Fried calamari was nice and tender, the pasta was perfectly al dente tossed in a delicious marinara sauce, the chicken Parmesan was cooked just perfect, providing that distinct Parmesan taste, and my
Favorite dish of all was the beef lasagna, the taste was out of this world, not too overwhelming despite the many different ingredients used; I would definitely recommend everyone to try it. And let's not forget about the warm apple crostata we had for dessert, it had to be one of The best apple crostatas I've ever had !
The staff was very attentive and polite, & we loved our waiter Matt ! Overall just great service, delicious food, & good drinks. Already Looking forward to our next dining experience, and will be recommending this restaurant to friends & family . Thank you !
