Maggiano's - Hackensack Ratings and Reviews
It was the first time we had ever been there. The food was delicious and my husband was given cookies for his birthday. The manager came to check on our table and was very open to talking with us. I can't wait to go back and I am really excited to try their brunch menu!
The host was great and we were seated very quickly. The waitress we had was not good at all. From when we sat down to when we got our drink it took an hour. We actually received our drinks after we received our appetizers. It took another hour and fifteen minutes to get our entrees. We paid with gift cards so we waited for the food. Had we not I would have paid for the apps and left. The waitress stopped at her other tables several times. We had a table next to us who ordered paid and left all before we got our entree. We asked for our check when we had our dinner served because we were dying to get out. When we received our food it was way below our standard. We ended up not eating it. We paid the bill and left immediately. I would not go back. It might have been a Valentine’s Day flaw but the lack of attention/ Service from our waitress killed our experience.
Been a patron of Maggiano's for at least 18 years. Usually visit 2-3 times/year...but no more...this was my last time. Prices have gone way up...food quality & presentation have gone down...and service wasn't so great. Basically if I wanted to eat at Olive Garden...I would have gone to Olive Garden and paid 30%-35% less.
Sorry Maggiano's...you used to be a great place to dine for special occasion's and a nice regular night out. But you've lost the specialness that was once Maggiano's.
We came here for Valentine's Day because we had a coupon and Maggianos told us that we could use our coupon even though it was a holiday (I called ahead of time to find this out and I was very thrilled to be able to use it!). The food all came out in a timely fashion and our waitress was still very attentive even though it was super busy because it was Valentine's Day. I was very happy with our experience. This was not our first visit to Maggianos and it definitely wasn't our last.
First we were greeted by a hostess who had a mouth full of something. I waited patiently for her to finish chewing, which seemed to irritate her. I was being polite but finally got the hint to just give her our name. We had made this reservation pretty early for Valentine’s Day. We were taken to a table right by the service staff dumping ground for plates, etc next to a family with screaming children. The place is HUGE and there were many, many, many open tables available away from the hustle and bustle and more private to sit a couple who were there to celebrate. That was their first two outs. I asked if I could get my entree with their cream sauce on the side, it arrived as a cold slab of salmon with not only the cream sauce in a huge bowl but the lump crab meat, asparagus etc drowning in this vat of cream sauce. If that wasn’t bad enough, the waiter from the next table cleared his patrons’ dishes from their table and we were so close to the dumping area that he grazed my hair with their red pasta sauces. I was so taken back especially since there was no apology. The entire time we were eating we had to put up with hostesses and managers screaming into little microphones alerting the other staff table numbers and what courses they were up too. It was incredibly rude and disruptive. We wont be going back.
We celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary at the same Maggiano's where we had our wedding reception. Thanks to Josue Pabellon, who recognized our special event and provided a special dessert. We can always count on Maggiano's Hackensack to make our events memorable.
Had 6:00 reservation. Didn't sit until 6:15. Ordered lump crab cakes for 30.00+.
Received crab cakes with all shredded crab meat. Far from advertised "lump crab cake", very disappointing.
Chopped salad was average due to dressing taste. Chicken parmesan was good as well as the drinks.
Chicago-Schaumburg location was much better experience.
Open, dimly-lit dining room left me a little cold-feeling. The lighting made the place look like a grey day, not very warm or romantic. Our server was excellent, efficient, and made us feel very welcome (which made up for the strange lighting). Our food was good. Lasagne was solid, and you get a free pasta dish to take home, making it a pretty good deal. I would order again. My take-home pasta stayed perfectly al dente after re-heating on the stove. My husband's "Famous Rigatoni D" was bland. Bread was bland, saving me a few calories! Italian tossed salad was quite good - better than expected.
Great food ... service can be spotty... ordered items missed(luckily not included on check anyway), delay on service from bar, extra set up requested a few times, pasta to go missed. We go often - once very 6 weeks so the overall service/food makes up for the often spotty service.
Food, as always is very tasty. For this visit, service seemed to be a bit short-handed as our waitress seemed to be covering for someone else but was still pleasant. The brunch choices were very good as we haven't been for this before.
One word or warning about the suggested tip on the receipts, they calculate it including the tax amount which should be ignored because you don't tip including tax as tax is a built-in fee which has nothing to do with the service you get. It's a trick for those who aren't paying attention.
They did not honor our reservation. Waited 1/2 hour and we were the only people waiting. Then we waited another 1/2 hour to get our order placed. Had to go to the manager to get it straightened out. To his credit, things improved after that.
Food is ok and “family meals are a reasonable value.
I think the place is just too big. I won’t go back
First off - the place was freezing....told the waitress who said she told the manager, but it made no difference......Secondly, should have known when we arrived for brunch (which is on the menu) at 12:00 and they were open since 10:30 a.m. and no one was there. The fritata was not good at all - one would expect a fritata in an Italian restaurant would have been delicious....It was tasteless and didn't even look like a fritata....more like a small pizza with veggies thrown on top - tasteless..../.potatoes that accompanied it were just ordinary. Waitress never asked if we wanted dessert - just plopped the bill on the table. That being said, the people who ordered the pancakes and the waffles and chicken said they were very good. And the Italian food that was coming out to other diners looked delicious - so I wouldn't recommend this place for brunch - only lunch or dinner.
Waiters forgot to bring one of our appetizers. Specialty pasta "Rigatoni D" was so overcooked that the pasta was falling apart. After our entrees were served, the waiter forgot about us for a LONG time. Overall, it was disappointing, I will think twice before returning.
We usually come for an early dinner and take one On The House entrée home with us. Our waiter David recognized us and was able to anticipate our needs. We consider Maggiano's in Hackensack, NJ our local Italian restaurant and heartily recommend this location to family and friends. :-)
