10 yeas ago we went on our first dating anniversary here and had the best experience! We had one of the cozy booths and were treated to a free bottle of champagne. The server was so excited to serve us and really made us feel special. I even saved the receipt and included it in our wedding decoration a year ago. So when it came to where would we go to dinner for our first wedding anniversary, which was today, we decided to go back to where we had our first dating anniversary. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t even close to the same. Neither one of us are huge Italian food fans, so we really came for the experience. On our reservation I made sure to include we were here for our first wedding anniversary but not once was it mentioned, no one asked us why we were there, and we just overall felt like it was “just another day”. The service was fine, the food was fine, but nothing was special...not what we really wanted or thought we would receive for our first anniversary dinner. In fact, we went somewhere else for dessert (the Little Dipper in Durham) because we knew they would make us feel special, and they did. They even gave us a complimentary champagne toast. I certainly don’t expect anything for free, I was just expecting to have a more special experience. I’m attaching a photo of the shadow box that had the receipt from our dinner 10 years ago just so you don’t think I’m making this up :). Zoom in and you will see it on the left. Just wanted to let you know to hopefully make sure that those who choose to spend a special day at Maggianos feel like they are appreciated for choosing to spend their special day with you all.
Great ambiance, excellent service and meal was delicious! Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
My husband and I always love to go to Maggianos for our special occasion meals. We always go for our birthdays, anniversaries, mother and father's day. The ambiance is nice and the food is always excellent.
Server was very friendly. My daughter did not want meat balls on her spaghetti and staff was willing to fix the dish. She forgot to tell that she does not want them. But staff wanted to make her happy.
The food was delicious and the service even better! Our waitress was so professional and nice! Highly recommend!
Food was wonderful but there was a problem with the AC and very hot in there restaurant.
Party of 7 for a birthday $357 + $71 tip and No air!!!
Our server did a great job and the food was as always...exceptional!
Great food and prices, the take home food was just as good as the main meal.
There are flies in this location. We’ve dined here before and they had flies then, too
Great food! Service was great. Table size and noise level was perfect for out group.
Graduation Dinner. The service was poor right from the start. In spite of comping two thirds of the bill, the evening was a complete disappointment.
It was a good experience. We were at a table and the drinks we ordered from the bar took forever to get to our table. I walked over near the bar area and they were not busy. So I don't know where the fault lies. Our server seemed efficient, He was polite and other than the drink issue, which happened twice, I found everything to be up to expectations. Food was good and arrived warm. Value was good also.
Awesome lunch and dinner place one of our favorites, just not a great brunch spot, the chicken and waffles really disappointed my wife, the chicken were chicken patties instead of actual pieces of chicken and the waffles she said were like microwave waffles. Being in the South with so many other restaurants offering this it's imperative to insure it is able to compete, or at least not be utterly disappointing. Still highly recommend for lunch and dinner.
We had great service the food was great all od the souces are on site.
Good food however the service was slow never received bread and coke was refilled once. Over all service was ok food was great
The service was good but there was a long wait for the food. This was partly because of multiple large parties. My appetizer was cold but the waitress got it taken off the ticket. It was an ok experience. I won't dine there for awhile.
Maggiano's is a decent American Italian restaurant chain. The pasta portions are huge! It's a nice restaurant for large groups and families.
We enjoy coming here a couple times a year for special occasions. Always great food and a great experience overall.
Went there on June 9 for my wedding anniversary. My food was excellent as was my wife's and daughter's. My mom was somewhat disappointed in her lasagna. She said it was OK but it didn't blow her away like previous visits. Lots of conversation going on made it a little difficult to hear the chatting and my table but that was because it was crowded.
Overall, it was a fun experience and I will be back.
Meeting old friends
My wife and I dine out a lot. We have the freedom and access to visit numerous dining venues within 15 miles of our house, to include Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh--otherwise know at "The Triangle." Maggiano's in Durham--as it turns out--is the place we always go for Sunday brunch, and often on other days, too, but Sunday brunch (and they serve their full lunch menu as well) is just great. The food is always--yes, I said always--very good. Excellent quality and cooked like they know what they're doing. Portions are generous, and the price is not "pricey" at all. A great dining experience as well since the service is above average across the board. In fact, ask for a waitress named Philina and you'll get excellent service. For consistently high quality, great service and value for you your $, I think Maggiano's has it down pat.
The wait staff was very helpful. Would like to thank you all for helping us celebrate out grandson
Nice place, good for groups and special occasions. Staff was attentive and nice, they gave us good advise. Awesome pasta dishes...and the option eat one take one home was great.
Our server was great, the food was good, but this was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences we've had. We were seated right up against a large party and an odd corner which made it impossible to move our chairs after we sat down. There was always a fly buzzing around our table. It took and hour and 45 minutes for a table of 4 to have appetizers and dinner. And would it kill them to use more AC on a hot day? I sweated through the entire meal. It will be a long time before we will go back.
The food was great but our server could've been more attentive and focused.
Took our family here for dinner as we don't see them that often since we are from New Jersey. Most of then have not been here before and couldn't get over the family style menu which we order from. Every one absolutely loved it and commented that they would be coming back again in the near future.
It was great as always. We have been to Maggiano's all over the country. Love the food and welcoming feeling you get from the staff. Food and service was excellent as always. I could not believe how the hostess greeted us. Very short and acted liked she was annoyed with us. She did not speak clearly or directly to us. I am really disappointed because I love Maggianos so much. Every other person spoke and treated us great!! Just a bad first impression at th Durham location.
We had a great time. Was very crowded. We had 1900 reservations however we had to wait a bit longer, not the restaurant's fault. Several large parties took there time leaving. Our waiter was most awesome, friendly, and fun server. Our only negative experience is that we did not get one of our extra, free meals, that we asked for. no biggie. We will be back!!
I scheduled my table for 7pm. We arrived early since we were not sure how long it would take to pick up everyone from our party and get there on time. We arrived by 6:30 pm. I politely informed the restaurant that we were very early and if there was an opportunity to be seated early we would love to and if not the that was fine. I was in disbelief when we were seated a 1/2 hr after our reservation of 7pm. Our server (Wesley) was truly exceptional. Top shelf......above and beyond. Unfortunately our food was completely messed up in which this is no error to the waiter. He did an outstanding job. The food quality is not the best.
The only negative, I would ask for seating not near the prep section to restock the tables, too noisy. Also, I’m short so seating in a booth is not great for me. I’d preferred a table that I can get close to the table.
We were overall happy with the experience.
Great service & good food!
We always have a great dinner and a great time. Service is fantastic and staff treats you like family
Good as always. Will be back.
have always enjoyed Maggianos even thought it is a chain. I think it is the only chain I frequent
We enjoy dining at Maggiano's in several states.
This was our 2nd visit to the Durham location within a month. Each time we went at a slow time of the day. Each visit it took a very long time for our server to come to our table. The most recent visit it was so bad I thought our server had left. Other tables had more people, arrived after us, and were served their meals way before us. Our water glassed were left empty for so long while we were having our entrees that I was about to get up and get the water pitcher to refill our glasses myself.
The food is always delicious and we enjoy it. I'm not sure if we will return to the Durham location. Just not impressed with the quality of service.
We usually like Maggiano's tremendously. Our most recent visit was disappointing. We requested as part of our reservations (and we realize it was only a REQUEST) a table by the window. When our party of 4 was seated, we were one row in from the window at a table for 4, which would have normally been fine and completely understandable considering the crowd, etc. However there were two tables, each for 4 people, adjoining our table and directly along the windows. We immediately inquired about these tables, but were told we could not move. A group of 3 was seated about 4-5 minutes later at one of the tables, and the other table a group of 2 was seated a minute or so later. The principal reason for requesting a window table was to be out of the continuous traffic flow of people. As fate would have it, the entire evening brought customers and staff navigating past our table to reach the tables along the windows and some of the other tables one row in. I stopped counting after 10 the number of times my seat was bumped or kicked during our meal by those passing by. I had two wait staff actually put their hands on my shoulders as they scooted through the aisle to serve the other tables. And I ducked once to avoid being hit in the head with a plate of food being delivered to another table. Unfortunately not an enjoyable evening. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this particular experience at Maggiano's a 3 at best. Past experiences were at least a 7 and often an 8 or better.
Once we were seated, all was great! But the front desk staff was not very friendly, and almost dismissive. As the first point of contact for the restaurant, they are banking on people wanting to eat here so they'll put up with less than stellar service at the door.
Great atmosphere! The staff was great! The food was superb... My family consist of various types of eaters from Vegan, Gluten Free and Protein Base Diets....
